I asked a version of this question to the submissive side and almost universally received a politically correct answer. Now it is turn for the Master half to contribute: Hypothetical question. You are sending your slave to a weekend slave training workshop. What subjects would you like her exposed to?

I would choose from the list of workshops offered. If you want wishful thinking, I'd have her attend the "Where To Find Ten Million Dollars In Unmarked Bills Buried In The Backyard". John

I wouldn't. I can think of no useful training that would include her and not me. I might be interested in a couples class on the following: - Role adoption & Behaviorial Theory - Possibly some technical how-to's for whips and chains

I wouldn't send a girl to have someone else train her to do something. What in the world could someone else be better at teacher her how to do for my pleasure then me? I am serious I have asked thie question myself a few times. How Lazy do you have to be to not train your own slave? and beyond that what slave would want a Dom who was unable to train her how to do something for him? Maybe I am just not understanding the kinds of things that get taught at these things but last I checked I was more than able to teach my slave how I like things in my house so how can anyone do that better than me and not have even lived in my house? As well as classes on - How to create a positive environment for transparency - Rules of Thumb for Safe Adaptations for Mounting Bondage equiptment (Like How to find a Stud or Best way to Mount a Sex Swing) Or one that I thought about doing if I could find it -Relating to your Partners Role. Helping the other understand what it is like for them I like the couples ideas better. Steel

Yeah, it's hard to imagine what use training either myself or her would be -- we are, after all, a couple and in our native environment we operate as a team. Anything "trained" to her she'd just need to then train me on. It'd be way easier to just do it as a team. And I love your idea on transparency. I could probably add a few more thinking about the various things we stumbled over in the past or are stumbling over now.

One thing we try sometimes is to give me a "head start." Once I'm asleep, I tend to be pretty deep and easily go back. YMMV

Hmmmmm..... I don't know if I would buy into the "Slave Training Workshop" for reasons already listed. I would however buy into (pun intended) classes for my slave. Cooking, first-aid, language, etiquette, candle making and leather care classes would top the list. In this case she would be learning new things that would benefit the relationship as a whole.

He might like it if I could learn some basic car repair stuff. Although maybe not, he doesn't like me doing the dirty jobs. But I can't imagine him objecting to me taking a belly dancing class though. However the first thing he taught me was how he likes his tea, which isn't something anyone else could have explained.

Fast Reply to no one in particular... I don't think you can dismiss slave training workshops out of hand. Sure, I don't believe anyone else can train my girl to serve me in any personal way. But that's not all that can be trained. Our annual event here in Pittsburgh (WoodsStocks) had a workshop on folding laundry for slaves. Nice touch if you want your slave to learn how to fold those awful fitted sheets. I sure as heck can't teach her. Someone had an interest recently on becoming a geisha, and no one had a problem suggesting that she be sent off to a geisha school. Well, how about learning how to serve a proper tea service? Might be a nice skill for her to have, and no, I can't teach it to her. Believe me, I am the biggest detractor of "trainers" in general. Read anything I write on the topic and you'd know that. But training for a specific skill set can be valuable. John

Well, that went well! People, you don’t necessarily have the skills to teach your slave to serve you. Cooking for instance: You would love a great meal every night, and your slave cannot boil water…. Either can you. ow, you can support McDonalds or get help and change your environment. Even have a GOOD massage after a hard day out? Have you ever had a professional massage, something beyond a backrub? It is a skill, guys. The skill can take several hundred hours of practice to master. If you would like your slave to give you a great massage at the end of the day, fork out the thousand dollars and send her to massage school. I thought of shaving today. The submissives I know are terrified of trying to shave a Dom. I suppose this is something you could do yourself. Have you? Got a straightedge? LOL Formal service: I am not speaking precisely of protocol here, but basic food service (I.e., serve from the left, pick up from the right, anticipate the needs of a guest, keep water glasses full, know WHEN to pick up dishes). If you have worked as a waiter, by all means train her. There are books on the subject as well. Point here is that I am not talking about training someone to give better head or to take a harder spanking. Slaves serve, Some actually want to learn these basic skills before acquiring a collar (I’ve done training in both massage and formal dining). Cooking is next. Baking, YES! I was hoping that some here would be able to indeed address this as a hypothetical issue and provide constructive suggestions. You see, my own imagination is somewhat limited.

As I mentioned in the other thread there are many how-to classes and I don’t see it any more enlightening to call it slave training than to learn skills through community education. And there is an easy answer to the fitted sheet folding problem. Only buy one set. Wash, dry, re-make the bed. Replace with new ones as needed.[:D]

In the past I have arranged formal training in cooking, house keeping and house management, dance lessons, music lessons, physical training (exercise & weight loss), first aid & CPR, and formal etiquette. Among my personal library I have purchased several books intended for use in my own slave training. They include books on etiquette, cooking, house keeping and one for personal assistants / secretaries.
