Well, I'm not from here, but the race was pretty nasty. We had the choice between her and a guy who is basically a crook with very questionable ethics who got into the race really late without much money. This state has a history of splitting, so a vote for president, generally, results in the split for the opposite party for the local and state stuff. Coleman will probably get the nod and Paulson was declared winner as well.. all solid republicans.

At this early hour it looks like the people has spoken, yes Obama will be our next president,I am not happy with the results , no but this is Now a nation of change so I will go along for the ride..
I watch a little special on late night TV, its was how TOM Dachel and Others in the Democrat party noticed Obama potential and how he and others from the party started to groom him to become the next grate democracy leader.the Democrats were looking for a sweetheart, a silver bullet.Looks like they found one, Hes goes into office a free agent, not owing allegiance to the party, wall street,. so lets see how he fares...Bounty

the people have spoken? apparently I'm not a part of the 'people' as I don't particularly want a leader (especially not obama or mccain)...

What a great nation we are that assassinating our black president is such a likely possibility~

the actions of one assassin reflect the values of an entire nation?

I think you may have made a leap in logic.

Leave it to you to bring joy, good will, and positive wishes to the thread. [sm=cute.gif]   And you wonder why it never changes for yourself.   Ever hear that say by a great man "be the change you want to see..."    M

GOD BLESS AMERICA.

The Associated Press reports that with the election settled, the stock market should become calmer.

um...are you under the impression that the stock market is an indication of economic well-being?

congratulations to those who voted Obama.
When does he start to work?

He gets sworn in on Jan 20, 2009 at noon. They'll have an inaugural ball that night and he'll start work the next day.

Any excuse for a party. [;)]

It does...  But not being the woman who tries to beat a sense of balance into you, I can't show it to you.

don't know...january 21st I think.

when bush was elected last term I was upset...but he was a predictably bad president and I knew what to expect. with obama, I have no idea what to expect...but I know it will be bad. I'm just scared we'll have a second fdr on our hands...

FullfigRIMaam -> RE: THE PEOPLE HAS SPOKEN (11/4/2008 11:40:47 PM)

*hugs variation, rubs his head, and assures him everything will be okay.*   [sm=skiprope.gif]  I'm too hyper...  I've got to calm down and go to bed.    It's a fantastic night y'all, mostly because we showed up to prove we're not just a collection of red states and blue states...    M

The amount of melanin in his DNA is incidental. That said to believe it's not significant for a variety of historical reasons is a bit naive. In my opinion, we got to kill two birds with one stone .. put the best man into office with the tremendous side benefit of finally showing the world and ourselves that we are, at least, color-blind enough to realize there's a whole lotta shit more important than the color of a man's skin. We've been stupid in that area for a very long time .. tonight, we're a little less stupid. We have a long way to go. One day the best man for the job will be a woman .. someone who's gay, someone who's Pagen and so on and so forth. Each of those will also be significant in its own right until we get to always voting for the best person for the job and nothing else will matter.

isn't that what we just proved? I mean we have 140+ million americans who are going to be 'led' by someone who they fudementally disagree with. the same would obviously apply if mccain won.

and I can't sleep yet as I have a research proposal due tomorrow and I just can't bring myself to do it as I've lost my motivation for trying to suceed and be wealthy.

He'll likely sign a bunch of executive orders undoing a raft of stuff Bush was having the government do or not do based on other executive orders the afternoon of the 20th.

I never said all the people were enlightened. *grins*    As an alleged  democracy, that's how it works babe.  You who did not ellect him will have to grin and bear it, because the majority has said he's the best man for the job.
As for your lack of motivation, I suggest literature relating to a to spiritual enlightenment, a good psychologist, or antidepressants.  [sm=dance.gif] M

if the majority of people voted for someone who made it illegal to question the government's actions (woodrow wilson)...should we just grin and bear it?

just give me a reward for doing well (and let me keep it) and the motivation will begin to reappear.

thank you for answering my question all.
Do you think he has enough time in those 4 years to change all he wants?
