Islam is a religion not a race....your argument is based on a flawed premise....
His father was African, Kenyan for all we know he might have changed to Islam
much as Cassius Clay became Muhammad Ali or Lew Alcindor became Kareem Abdul Jabar.
The Islamic religion is practiced by Asians, Arabs, AMERICANS, white Europeans....
A rather narrow view on your part.

Did'nt the British try to kill George Washington before he became president??  Why start with Obama. This stuff was going on before we even had a president.

LET's Delete this thread.   It serves no purpose to discuss such a thing but maybe stir up some radical thinking.     If that isn't a good enough reason let's consider that the discussion of such things is illegal and I assume therefore against the terms of service here.
I agree completely Jax, and wish we could delete it.   Alas we cannot, and people love drama; if it's not happening, we have to create it... The darker, the better.   M

Perhaps you and Jax could get together and make a list of subjects you find interesting and worth discussing. Then CM could post it in the tos section and anyone talking about anything else can be banned.

We've the right to find this one useless and tasteless and say so here, so no need to go to a different section at all. *shrugs*   M

Ok I'm all for this idea above....

Do you really think that anyone who is gonna get near the presidency hasnt had their asses checked out thoroughly. TO get security clearance  the CIA FBI NSA INS etc etc etc ad nauseum hasnt buried themselves so far up his rear end that they know what colour his rhoids are at any given time of the day?
but I spose its another conspiracy theory that will play out in time...

Fortunately Obama is THIN, wearing a kevlar chest plate would not be too obvious under his suits in public. I don't think the Secret Service however wants to lose another President on their watch, they will be hyper-vigilant, especially since it could tear this nation apart should something happen to him. Obama has inspired Hope in the hearts of millions of people like no other president since Kennedy, to lose him would grieve and enrage a world, at least until he has had a chance to prove himself just another politician.

You do understand he was elected president, not supreme being, right? Let's just say you are correct about his "Muslimness".  Exactly how is he going to do anything without it going through Congress?  You know, through all of those Christians?  And Jews?  And those sympathetic to the gay community?  It's not like he's Pharoah...."So it be written, so it be done."

I was born to two Catholic parents.  Am I automatically a  Catholic as a consequence of their union?

I voted for neither McCain or Obama.  But you know what?  He won convincingly, and he deserves a chance, and certainly congratulations for a well run campaign.  I'm willing to give any elected official, my candidate or not, a fair shake, especially in their first term.  If I feel that their time governing isn't serving the people, then I do what we have the right to do in this country, vote against them at the end of their term.

He will succeed or fail based on many factors, no different than any other president. I don't think it will have anything to do with his religious beliefs or the color of his skin.

Ok this is an interesting question. And again I'm not saying Obama is this guy - I'm asking IS IT POSSIBLE.

If someone runs for president who has known ties to a terrorist group - How exactly would these goverment police groups let the American people know. Elected positions are elected position and where does it say that someone can be barred from an office because of their real believes or actions. Provided of course they haven't done anything that would keep them out - like commit a felony in the US.

I think even if the CIA knew something - they wouldn't have the ability to say a dang thing about it.

Your right there are real limits to what any President can do. No single person in this country can pass laws outlawing Christians - or making Women property. There is a real limit to it.

But a President does have control of the military. A spy in the oval office would be a huge blow to our nations security. The ability to send troops in to ambushes and the ability to distract miliary and armed forces from real threats entering this country. Further the secrets that could be given away.

Rahm Emanuel being appointed as Obama's chief of staff is a good sign that he isn't the guy I've been describing.

Interesting enough..if you want to work for the Secret Service, you cannot have any affiliation with terrorist organizations. Go figure.

Miss in Lincolns time everyday people could go in and out of the white house any time they wanted to. They even picnicked on  the white house grounds. The presidents use to walk all over the place by themselves. There was a recent president that used to sneak out of the whitehouse to bowl or get himself a burger.

I don't know misst - I do believe that if we had a black pm that it is less likely that there would be an attempt.  We simply don't have the conspiracy and religious bias here in the UK.

What I find intriguing is throughout these threads where this has been mentioned, that people keep mentioning that the threads should be pulled because they may add fuel or stir up radical thinking???  I mean seriously???  Do you also believe people should not carry arms because they might stir up radical shootings?  No video games for children because they might become violent?  That slasher and horror films encourage murders?(Don't mean to hijack your post misst, but I had to mention it seeing some of the responses you have).

Presidents Abraham Lincoln, James A. Garfield, William McKinley, and John F. Kennedy were assassinated in office, and unsuccessful attempts were made against Presidents Andrew Jackson, Harry S. Truman, Gerald Ford, and Ronald Reagan. Attempts were made against Lincoln and Franklin D. Roosevelt when they were Presidents-elect.

In fact, the secret service did not begin protecting presidents until 1901. Even then, it was it's second tier mission. It's first was to combat the counterfeiting of US currency.

from the US History Encyclopedia: Secret Service
On 5 July 1865, the Secret Service was established as a division of the Department of the Treasury to combat the widespread counterfeiting of United States currency. At the time, a loosely organized monetary system contributed greatly to the instability of the nation's currency. State governments issued their own bank notes through private banks. During the early 1860s, more than 1,600 of these banks designed and printed their own bills. Efforts to adopt a national currency were also hampered by counterfeiters. The result was that during the Civil War, as much as one-third of American currency was counterfeit.

With the appointment of William P. Wood as its first chief, the Treasury Department's Secret Service used organized investigative efforts that produced a considerable impact in suppressing counterfeiting. The Secret Service also was asked to investigate other crimes that, in time, would be tasked to other government agencies. These included mail fraud, armed robberies, Ku Klux Klan activities, drug smuggling, naturalization scams, peonage cases, fraud involving land and oil reserves, and counter-espionage during the Spanish-American War and World Wars I and II.

After President William McKinley was assassinated in 1901, presidential protection of Theodore Roosevelt became part of the Secret Service mission. In 1906, Congress passed legislation that officially delegated the Secret Service to provide Presidential protection. This was extended to the President-elect in 1913, and for members of the President's immediate family beginning in 1917. In that same year, Congress enacted legislation making it a crime to threaten the President by mail or by any other manner.

The Secret Service is now authorized to protect the president, vice president, president-elect, vice president-elect; the immediate families of these individuals; former presidents and their spouses (presidents taking office after 1996 receive protection for ten years following the end of their term); children of former presidents until age sixteen; visiting heads of foreign state or governments and their spouses; major presidential and vice presidential candidates; and other individuals as directed by the president.

The United States Secret Service Uniformed Division assists in the organization's protective mission. Its mission includes providing protection at the White House and surrounding buildings; numerous embassies and missions in the Washington, D.C., area; and the vice president's residence. This is accomplished through a series of fixed posts, vehicular and foot patrols, and specialized support units.
