Oh! Thanks GT!

Mine is Jane - seemed a natural change from the previous one James; no idea where that one came from but my previous first name (which was close to my first name now as well) came by way of a friendship my parents had with the bass player of a local rock group - nothing like 60s parents for picking out names for spurious or mysterious reasons eh?

LOL E.. true story:  when I was a kid in Philadelpia, some friends of my mom had two kids a wee bit older than me. The boys name was Moonbeam, the girls name was Sunbeam.

*shakes head*

Almost makes the initials of A.S.S. seem good!!

When I was in Poland and working as a TEFL teacher I worked with someone called John Thomas, and also a guy from California called Roger Rodgers. My favourite however is a policeman called Robin Holmes.

oops wrong thread - a very loonnnnnnnnnnnng night

i have a funny name which my brother use to call me "gettiecateen" (pronounced like get the car teen). my parents would use my full name when in anger however my brother being small at the time couldn't say my name right ...so he would say what it sounded like to his little ears.

to this day - my relatives esp my cousins tease me constantly about this.

My senior year in high school, I was the T.A. for a junior english class that contained a kid named Rusty Brown.  My best friend worked in a day care, run by a woman named Holly Woods.  And of course, when I ran a learning seminar at the cookie store I used to work at, I had the pleasure of meeting 2 kids with lovely names.  1 being Dayne Knight, and a little girl named Aquafina.

When my best friends was thinking about names for their baby before they knew the sex, she wanted to name the baby if it was a boy Peter. The problem was their last name is Pullin  So Peter Pullin was definently out.

Well, GT, when I was in highschool (you know, those whole long 4 and 1/2 years ago.. lol), we used to write of course "I <3" and then the initials of the person that we "heart-ed" lol  and to see someone writing "I <3 ASS" that would have been freaking AWESOME!!! lmao!!   {Doesn't take much to ammuse me.. lol}

We had a cop in my town for a few years with the last name of Bacon.... no freaking lie.. he pulled my mom over once... seriously.... If your last name is Bacon, WTF would make you want to be a cop?!?!?!   Like he didn't get called a pig enough right?

I won't mention his first name, but a kid I went to school with had the last name: Dick.
He was a pretty tough kid.

we had a kid in high school we called "ditto", his first and last names were the same.  didn't help that he was a recent immigrant, i suppose it wouldn't have been a big deal back where he was from, i'm sure there are kids named similarly, something like "muhammad muhammad" wouldn't be that odd.  but here he was "ditto".
