IronBear -> Are there any words of phrases which are banned in your relationship? If so why? (11/9/2008 12:36:51 AM)

This question was prompted by another thread on this board, "punishment".

For both Dominants and sub/slaves. Are there any words of phrases which are banned in your relationship? If so why?

For my part, few things are universally banned in Bruin Cottage or in my presence. They are:
  • "What ever!"  People using it usually are displaying a lack of both vocabulary or the ability to form a proper responce. Alternatively, they are just lazy and if so they demonstrate a complete of respect for people they make that somment to.
  • "Going to go!" This is gramatically so incorrectg that it makes my teeth gring when I hear it. You are either going, will be going or have gone.
  • "Unique" is a word defining something or some one as a one of a kind and yet people apparently do not understand the meaning of the word and add to it by stating "Very Unique" and so on.
  • Not a wong word but so badly mispronounced in the USA and coppied by the untillegent youth here in Australia. Congratulations mispronounced as Con-grash-ulations instrad of the correct Con-grat-ulations. In some cases I watch such mispronounciations occuring when people are determined to talk through closed teeth instead of opening their mouths and enounciate words properly which also leads to much mispelling.
Slaves of Bear Cottage may not be the accedemic stars or members of mensa but by jove, they are able to hold intelligent and understandable conversations with guests from all walks of life and no theyare not allowed to talk or even beg with their mouths full. [;)]

Jealousy.  I was told early on that this word is forbidden since my Master is poly.

Not so much words or phrases (my grasp of language is pretty darn good) but I am not allowed to put myself down or say that I can't do things because I'm not good enough. Thankfully neither of us use phrases like 'whatever', that happens to be one of my pet peeves and usually leaves me blinking.

Well, there's "no"...last night,  He thought i was telling Him "no" about something He asked me to do, and the quiet way He asked, "Did you just tell Me "no"????  Scary.....

"i don't know",  though not forbidden, means some research will be required until i do know...

And i've been put on a restriction from using curses in our conversations....that is the hardest mother---err....i mean darned thing for me to do....

Other than the fact that my property must phrase things in a request or not in an imperative manner, she is forbidden to call herself stupid, dumb, or retarded. She may say she did a dumb thing, but not call herself such.

Never heard anyone in the U.S say congrashulations, and i have lived in 17 states and/or traveled in 49 of them.

Yes, I am never allowed to put myself down, it's referred to as "Princess Bashing" I am constantly reminded: There is no princess bashing.

I guess I'd only want to argue about "very unique."

"Random" is a word I pretty much never allow to be used.  If people started using it correctly I might change my mind.

Difference between education and intelligence. So did you have anything to add to the OP, other than to be a member of the spelling police?

Ma'am. It just makes me feel old and that I'm still at work mostly the still at work part. Otherwise I pretty much don't care. I don't like back talk that's more tone based.

I have a friend where I'm not allowed to call him boy, if I do so he calls me ma'am. It's totally based on how the terms make us feel about our ages.

kiwisub12 -> RE: Are there any words of phrases which are banned in your relationship? If so why? (11/9/2008 7:10:39 AM)

I am not allowed to say "No". I can however say "If it pleases you Sir"  - which is the same as saying "hell no, i don't want to do that!!!", but without the dreaded N word. lol.

He is not permitted to put himself down. So the words: loser, dumb ass, dumb fuck, stupid etc are not to be used.

Well don't ever git yurself a slave from the southern U.S. Iron Bear, cuz we sutherners are notorious for "fixin'" to do all sorts of things.

"I'm fixin' to go to Walmart."

"I'm fixin' to mow the grass."

"I'm fixin' to whup your butt if you don't behave!"

LOL! [:D]

IrishMist -> RE: Are there any words of phrases which are banned in your relationship? If so why? (11/9/2008 8:01:33 AM)

When I was in a relationship there was only one word that was guaranteed to get me kicked out
NO

Phrases guaranteed to get me a swift kick, slap, or punch
I refuse
I won't do it
Fuck you
Go to hell
Go fuck yourself

You get the idea [8D]

The difference between saying no and saying I refuse/won't do it was that the word no was seen as a dismissal of our agreement, in which the only solution was for me to walk out the door and never return. I refuse/won't do it was instead seen as 'acting out due to frustration', in which a different solution was employed.

SadysticJester -> RE: Are there any words of phrases which are banned in your relationship? If so why? (11/9/2008 8:03:17 AM)

words like never,no-way,,such words that infer to something negative in any way is discouraged, and sometimes punished for. there are myriad of other things that can and or will fall under this category.

manxcat -> RE: Are there any words of phrases which are banned in your relationship? If so why? (11/9/2008 8:04:45 AM)

Spelling is important as is punctuation, as they can change the meaning of what you are saying.  Misuse of words can also change the meaning, as can mispronunciation.  All have an effect at how a person is perceived.  F.E. Our president mispronounces the word nuclear.  It (among other things, of course) has made him look even more of an idiot. Language and words are powerful, and one can totally lose the message by any and all of the above.
Many times, someone elses definition of a word can change the whole tenor of a conversation, if one does not realize they are using a word in a different context.  Women speak differently from men, and people from different countries speak differently from each other.  It is difficult enough with all of these differences to ensure clear communication, so it would seem to me that one would a least make the effort not to add in any other errors which could cause confusion.

HEY, you stole the words right out of my mouth!  I was going to say if "going to go" gets you worked up then "fixin' to go" would push you over the edge.  It's allowed in His house and He even says it too[:D].

As to the OP's question......I never call Him by His given name and I'm also not permitted to put myself down in regards to my appearance.  We can discuss something that I may need to work on but using put-downs about myself in any manner is not accepted.  He doesn't accept trash-talkin' about the valuables He owns[:)]..................luci

hmm, and since when did you become the speaker for the spelling police? Like Mister Orion, I am curious whether you have anything of intelligence to add to the actual OP.

From both your responses, I would have to say no.
