ORIGINAL: physcsdrk I don't like it when people have that type of attitude, so I said "I only submit to those I have chosen to submit too" she said "it's just a matter of respect." which is fine. I will respect you as long as you will show the same degree of respect for me. so i put "I will be more then happy to follow your wishes and call you m'am, if you will do the same for me and call me princess." lol she got pissed and stopped talking to me. Well, the capitalisation is something I have always done, because in the online community to which I belong it is a universal convention. Yes, I see it as a matter of respect - but not respect for the individual but for their station. To lowercase 'sub' is to me as much as matter of respect as to uppercase 'Dom/ina' (thanks, FelinePersuasion). I see it as a courtesy more than anything else, and a courtesy is something that makes social interactions flow the smoother. I think it's possible to overdo it, mind you. If I wrote in this way I would feel it would reflect badly on Me, making My Sentences difficult to read and ultimately affecting My Communications with A/all others. But Dom/ina, sub, Master, slave, seems to me to be a useful convention, acknowledging our respective stations within the community.
