subintrainingnc -> not knowing what he looks like (11/10/2008 1:04:09 PM)

How long would you go without knowing what someone looks like? has anyone ever met someone sight unseen? or the guy really thinks it is exciting the thought to meet without knowing what he looks like..

DesFIP -> RE: not knowing what he looks like (11/10/2008 1:06:07 PM)

We talked for about a month before meeting. Neither of us had a web cam or had a picture up.
I just told him I'd be in jeans, high heel sandals, and a red shirt that zipped up. He told me what shirt he would be wearing. That was enough to identify each other.

In a very public place , right ?

slaveluci -> RE: not knowing what he looks like (11/10/2008 1:23:28 PM)

I'm sure I was in love with Master before I ever saw Him.  We chatted online and by phone for a few weeks before pictures were ever exchanged.  At that point, I knew it was right regardless of what His appearance was.  He told me He felt the same way.  Fortunately for us both, however, we were each well pleased with the others' appearance when we finally did exchange pix[;)]...........................luci

Not every one belives first meets have to be in public or in very public places you know. And that's their right to believe that.

I would never meet a woman I hadn't seen a picture of but I have met women who haven't seen me.  That said, I think it is pretty stupid for a woman to do it with anyone else as there are some crazy fucking people out there.

Am I the only one that thinks this is potentially VERY manipulative or even dangerous?
+1 on a very public place, if you decide to go through with this. I would never contemplate meeting someone without knowing what they look like. Not only is there a very great chance you will not be attracted to him or that he is hiding something (age, weight, other body issues), he is already getting you to do something with which expressing discomfort and uncertainty.

SageFemmexx -> RE: not knowing what he looks like (11/10/2008 1:35:56 PM)

I had a guy who kept emailing me saying he was coming into OKC. I let him string along, wondering when he was going to figure out I was not stupid enough to drive 30 miles to meet someone who was too paranoid about his job to even send a picture. So, it happens, you get guys arrogant enough to think any sub is going to rush out to meet them sight unseen in some hotel room. Not me.

Sage.

Madame4a -> RE: not knowing what he looks like (11/10/2008 1:37:54 PM)

For me, and note I like to pretend no one else is like me *grin*, exchanging pictures is part of a progression -- also attraction is important to me and a small part of that is physical.. from my experience for men a large part of that is visual/physical and I wouldn't meet anyone without at least sending them a picture -- I'd so hate to read the huge disappointment in someone's face if they suddenly didn't like my appearance... which still may happen -- pictures don't necessarily mean a lot...

Alighierisquest -> RE: not knowing what he looks like (11/10/2008 1:45:39 PM)

I think exchanging pics is more common than not.  Appearance is a part of physical chemistry.  That said for years I wouldn't post pics to any newtworking sites but the simple truth is if you don't have a readily available pic you profile will get quickly overlooked, at least for men.  A certain amount of purple prose can get a conversation started with new people but I've found that despite some people saying out right they want to make friends or value intellectual discourse they have an easier time carrying on emails with someone they can visualize.

Maybe I'm having an off day, but I'm not following the logic.  What does a picture prove?  That someone is not crazy?  That it's a pic of the person you're actually going to meet?

I often meet sight unseen. Looks count for little in my world. Its whats inside counts.

How does having a visual of an individual (or not) have any bearing on how psycho they may be?

thishereboi -> RE: not knowing what he looks like (11/10/2008 2:08:03 PM)

I've met 3 people from online. I waited about 1 week and didn't know what they looked like until I saw them. It was always in a public setting.

I should read through responses before responding at risk of echoing an already provided sentiment.

I like to see pictures of a face, so I can do mom's "mean eyes" test.  (Why, when I consistently IGNORE the results of said test?)  I met my former slave H without seeing him in a picture.  It's only a picture.  I guess they can fish it off your hard drive after your body is found, eh? [8|]

You know, Zero, if you're going to ride my coattails, at least snug up closer to my ass.  In that good slutty way that I like, of course.

No You're not the only one, hence my previous post and for the same reasons you have saved me from outlining.

I initially met MasterK after about 2 weeks of email/IM with no exchange of pix. Neither of us was disappointed, and 3+ years later things are going wonderfully.
