The word slut is usually used to keep a woman's sexuality in check. Only recently have men been called 'sluts' as well (i'm talking about mainstream vernacular), but the implications and derogatory meaning are not the same. It's used in dirty talk because it still connotes a taboo... the taboo of promiscuity and openness. I don't use it and cringe when people use it during play/sex, thinking it'll turn me on or make me feel 'like a bad girl.'

The only time I will use 'slut' is in humor, with a modifier before it. (moto-slut, shoe slut, purse slut, etc... meant in the way of 'major lover of X')

SND,

I promise I will never call you a slut! that being said, why does the word get associated with "dirty" talk?

CP

Cause us sluts love it when you whisper it in our ear!

*bends over slowly and with moist lips whispers dirty slut into the ear of lucious! / slips away with a smile!

before i was kinky - slut was a bad word. being raised in a staunch Catholic and Baptist surroundings, i was raised to be chaste.

after kinky - it's still a bad word however depending on who's saying it. if it's Daddy calling me a slut, it's a term of endearment.  if it's someone else, get ready for a tongue lashing.

edited to add: my pet loves being called slut ...it's a form of degradation he enjoys along with other words such as sissy, pathetic human, whore

lilgirl,

damn I am confused by the edit! who is who?

I have been away from the boards for awhile due to business travel and as I normally attempt to keep up with the mix of new folks coming on to the CM path I causually review the profiles of newcomes. Upon doing so I read a profile of a lady that presented a thome on being a "slut" from many angles.
Since I use the term in my profile, it brought to mind the chance that over the last few years the meaning has morphed into an new understanding.

Marc,

Phew!
Reaching for a dictionary!!! A very complete educational paragraph tho.

CP

Whats your thoughts on the interpretation be ye "D" or "s"?

"Slut" is a word that has undergone a considerable amount of social revision and invention over the centuries. While its ultimate origins seem a little unclear, it's generally clear that today "slut" is a moral term, though it changes flavor depending upon which sex is using it and why. I generally understand the term to mean a female who mates with other males far less discriminately than her peers or the established norm for female standards in these matters—of course opening up a discussion of semantics, subjectivity and relativity. The word is often derogatory in use, but modern female-positive sexual politics often seems to fashion it as a woman (usually) who is liberated in her debauchery—sexual or otherwise.

Funny how one word can cause such disagreement and strong feelings...

I am with LA on this one:  a slut is a woman or a man who is open about their sexuality and celebrates it and readily admits that they enjoy the exploration of their sexuality...whether it be with one partner, several or many.

I'll even go a bit further and state this:  just because someone is a slut does NOT mean they will have sex with anyone.  Celebrating your sexuality and wanting to embrace it with those you are attracted to and that wish to embrace their own sexuality with you while NOT wanting to embrace it with just anyone who comes along makes you a discriminating slut.  They are still a slut but a slut who's sexuality...including the choice as to who to share it with...remains with them or, with consent, their Master/Mistress.

I always thought SLUT meant ... Sexually Liberated Uninhibited Temptress?!?!?!!!

I am, and i like it!

For me and in my homnr, a slus of both a tearm of endearment and a destription of what a girl does in mych the same way as we use the term whore.

SLUT: A girl who will strip off her clothes as far as she is ordered by her Master and will do so when, where and before whom according to my wishes. She will wear her clother more sexually provocably manner then is the custome of other slaves and may if I so desire allow selected gurets to explore or handle her intimately to a level I predetermine (eg handle her breasts). She will also be prepared to service me sexually on demand and if I desire so, in public or before others.

WHORE: is first of all a slut and will be prepared to sexually service both males and females I designate from complete sexual acts to giving head either in private or in public or before an audience. Traditionally, those using the girl for sexual pleasure would have negotiated a price (cash or other) with me in advance and thus the girl would be "a coin girl"..

marie2 -> RE: Slut What does it denote for you? (11/14/2008 4:57:29 PM)

There are certain circumstances under which I might feel ok with being called a slut (or a whore) but it's a rare frame of mind for me.  It also doesn't bother me when it's used (or I use it) in humor.

To me, the word slut brings to mind a female who is promiscuous and who will fuck anything that moves for nothing more than the sake of fucking.  I realize a lot of women feel that the term slut simply means that they are uninhibited enough to enjoy sex without guilt or shame.  But I don't process the word that way.

Pretty much any woman i know, kinky or otherwise, has read that book.  it's actually pretty widely known.
------------------------------------------------
As far as slut goes, i'm pro-slut.  i love to be called "slut". i love to do slutty things, and to be taken and used as a slut, whore, filthy thing.  For me, during about 80% of sexual activities, it's the frame of mind i enjoy most.  And when i am being slutty....the lines become blurry, reality seems more dreamlike, all those things that make me at times pretentious and guarded....they fall away, and i become just a sexual being.  And it is freeing, and amazing...and not possible for me without the slut mentality.

Aynne88 -> RE: Slut What does it denote for you? (11/14/2008 5:14:52 PM)

What an odd thought candy. Erica Jong is one of the reigning writers on women and sexuality and "Fear of Flying" is probably one of the most well known books for decades now, why would you assume that most of "us" have not read it? I read it ohh I guess fifteen years ago and I believe the majority of my girlfriends and most women I know have too.

Anyway, as to the OP, I do not like the word slut, I hate when used by women to demean women, and if anyone besides Master ever called me that I would rip their eyes out. Just sayin' [;)] Oh and even when He says it it starts with a "My"and usually a fistful of hair. That of course is incrediby hot.

I find the tv show 'Sex and the City' to be the same.  Four women, with differing attitudes about sex, exploring the wide, wide world.  If you haven't seen it, you might like it.

I suppose the word 'slut' could be a woman's way of reclaiming her right to act as she chooses in the sexual realm.  One of these days I'll have to read The Ethical Slut

Lordandmaster -> RE: Slut What does it denote for you? (11/14/2008 5:21:41 PM)

In high school the definition was simple: A slut is a girl who will let you fuck her even if you already have a girlfriend.

Fortunately we're not in high school anymore.

Scheherazade -> RE: Slut What does it denote for you? (11/14/2008 5:29:27 PM)

This also helped me in that I realize so many people (women especially) find it hard to be “a slut.” They can embrace being “someone’s slut” or being a loved slut, but find it difficult to be bald-facedly an open slut. So by keeping things to a personal attitude level, it doesn’t matter HOW the person acts as a slut…simply that they embrace their slut attitude.

In short:
slut- someone who has an active interest in sex, sexuality and celebrates it openly (does not imply any ACTUAL sex, or any AMOUNT of sex)

Daddy told me that he believes that most not all, but most women have that 'inner-slut' inside of them that can come out but with the right man, or woman. Once felt with that person, it can and should be a real pleasure.

loveandlight87 -> RE: Slut What does it denote for you? (11/14/2008 5:58:31 PM)

CelticPrince - You are most welcome.  And thank you!

candystripper - I actually just finished reading "The Ethical Slut".  Could hardly put it down.  But, like you surmised, I haven't heard of "Fear of Flying".  It's going on my 'to read' list!

Slut can be a very wonderful name or an extremely bad name.  All depends upon the context and how it's used.  :-P

elfette -> RE: Slut What does it denote for you? (11/14/2008 8:17:15 PM)

Personal slut definition, for the one I serve I am his slut, to please and play in any matter wished with complete abandon, free to experience all, nothing forbidden, nothing beyond reason if it is pleasing.to him

They should be so lucky, they could use a bit of creativity in their ... um ... art. However, I think, talking and actually acting (well) is not really the point.

slavegirljoy -> RE: Slut What does it denote for you? (11/14/2008 8:50:41 PM)

What slut means to me:

SLUT is my alter ego. It’s being sexually uninhibited and having unlimited enjoyment of all things sexual, without having any negative feelings associated with it.  Because my Master requires me to be His slut, my alter ego is set free and i am able to be sexually uninhibited with Him and with anyone He chooses.

With my master, i am a:
Shameless
Lustful
Unabashed
Tart

joy
Master David's voluntary erotic-domestic slave

I process it as I stated above (highlighted red).  In other words, that's my association with the word slut.  It reflects off my brain as a pejorative term.
