I think George R. R. Martin is the best fantasy writer right now. Have you read _A Feast For Crows_ yet?

Yup, I'm planning on having a STAR WARS Theme Wedding. Pet could be dressed like Lea and I would be in a Darth Vador like Tuxedo. We would have a midget priest dress and talk as Master Yoda to perform the ceramony. My groomsmen would be in Emperial Trooper/Guard apperal. To bad this is only a fantasy of mine.

_Starship Troopers_ is my favorite Heinlein novel. I really didn't think that movie did it justice.

I am a Space Odessy ( sp?) geek...not to mention all the Star Wars movies I never read the books for star wars, but I did for Space Odessey ( still trying to figure out the flippin spelling)...but then I never saw the movie for this one either lol. Dune is another good one Yes, I know, these are all older movies, I just have not found any that compare to them yet, or that hold my interest long enough to read or watch.

i like most anything having to do with the future and also magic. a big fan of Star Trek and Star Wars. i think i was born a century too early.

started reading sci-fi when i was 11. Heinlein....read every single book he wrote Asimov......ditto Arthur C Clarke.......ditto Ray Bradbury.......ditto EEDocSmith....pretty much all his books read Greg Bear.....read most Ben Bova...read most Orson Scott Card ( his name should be "Awesome" Scott card LOL)...read/reading all Julian May...read all Anne McCaffrey....read all Piers Anthony....read all but the latest and heaps more.....lol..........but then, i used to read 10 -12 books a week ( and work graveyard shift 4 nights a week too lol)

I really enjoy Julian Mays writing as well. I particularly enjoy her colorful characters like Aiken drum & Marc Remillard.

If you like Vampire novels I must recommend Nancy Collins. She has a particularly good vampire series. She is a great writer.

NO!!!! I meant to go to the bookstore as soon as I heard it was out, but time and circumstance have foiled my plans. If it's not under the tree, I'm going the next day to get it.

Orson Scott Card is probably my all time favorite. I first read Ender's Game my senior year of high school. I picked it up one day, and could not put it down until I had finished it. The sequels to it seemed to have lost much of the flavor of the original... That's why I liked it when he wrote the parallel series featuring Bean... I also like: Star Wars John Ringo Mercedes Lackey Douglas Adams David Weber and a whole host of others

It didn't have the flash of a big budget pic and it wasn't completely faithful to the book but I thought it was pretty good. But then, I LIKE B movies. I'm very fond of any of his books with Lazarus Long. Time Enough For Love and Friday are real favorites. Stranger in a Strange Land I read when I was very young and I have to admit that it (and Lazarus Long) had a significant impact on my developing ideology and morals. It was like "YEah! This is the way relationships are SUPPOSED to be!" You could say I grokked (in fullness).

I confess I loved the movie Starship Troopers. I have the freakin DVD. I like just about anything Sci Fi/ Fantasy whether book or movie.

I read Starship Troopers twice and saw the movie as well. I found little in the movie that really matched up with the book but still enjoyed it somewhat. The love relationships between the three main characters isn't in the book at all (there were no female soldiers if I remember correctly) and the story is more like the diary of a grunt as he gets his first taste of battle on an alien planet. There's also a third race of beings (the "Skinnies"); tall, thin creatures that are sometimes allied with the terrans, sometimes not. What I liked most was the armored suits the terrans wore in battle. It made the wearer super human. This is what I was expecting to see when I saw the announcement that the movie was coming out. I also like David Brin ("Startide Rising" and "Earth" come to mind). Ursula K. Le Guin ("The Left Hand of Darkness") is another good scifi author. anthrosub

I read some of the Jerry Pournelle and Larry Niven books; liked them Read lots of Asimov too I'll plug Kurt Vonnegut in the sci-fi category too, and I've read lots of his stuff too. Sirens of Titan really warped my perceptions of reality Guess they're my faves becuse I read many of theirs, but just sampled one or two of other authors such as Heinlein, bradbury, and Card.
