My Lady Constanze, i am impressed, most guys dont have two words of irish and thats irish guys, ask them to say anything in irish and they would look you as if you had two heads, despite the fact that they spent 14 years learning the language, yet You, a non Irish person, have knowledge of the language. thats impressive

Speaking as an Irish Chicken, Bird or Honey.   If any man addressed me in that way, I would take him down, and not in a way that he would enjoy.    I have never been called any of those names, so either Waterford men are different from Dubs'  or I am one scary Irish lass.

makes a note to try this with toblerone in hand

muhahahahahahah

Darias,
Shush,   I don't want folks thinking that I can be bought with a cheap chocolate bar,  you do know I meant  the giant toblerone right?

its not a cheap choclate bar ... its got honey and some other stuff in it ... plus its a triangle shape which makes it posh ... and if your hinting at those footlong toblerones .... Darlin You best be putting out on the first date :P

Well, you could also offer to slap/beat/whip him until he pronounces "Tá mo bhríste trí" the right way or figures out what it means ;)
Got everything but the last word Constanze ...  im guessing its either ... yeah never mind not mentioning my guesses in public :P

anyways for those who dont speak Irish the translation would be .. "My Pants are ?????"

and since when would slap/beat/whip be something that id want to stop ?

Wouldn't that be, "speaks Gaelic"?  I had an Irish roommate for a while and he could speak it.  And he HATED to be asked to say, "They're always after me lucky charms."  LOL  (No, I never asked him to.  I just made him read me Gaelic poetry.)

I wish I had 1000 good things (sorry, my Gaelic is absolutely rusty, I assume that was what you meant), I just remember a few phrases. One of my degrees is from Trinity, hence I'm a bit familiar with Ireland (at least Dublin and no, couldn't afford to live in D4), I always considered it simply polite to at least try to learn the language of any country I lived in, at the time I considered Gaelic the most difficult language, then I lived a while in Wales and apart, from a few phrases never really got anywhere. That darned LL sound is just really weird.

Actually you are not in the way that they are all Celtic languages and somewhat related, but Irish and Scottish Gaelic are fairly close while Welsh and Cornish seem to have hardly anything in common with Irish or Scottish Gaelic. I remember vaguely that Welsh and Cornish (and Cumbric I think) are Brythonic languages. It's been a few years so I'm not 100% sure.

Darias -> RE: Is it disrespectful to address a Domme as Honey , Chicken, Bird etc (11/16/2008 1:48:51 PM)

ha! so i was only wrong about being wrong that one time

its hard work being this perfect yanno

BTW You never did tell us what  the last word in your little sentance meant. infortunitly im at my apartment  rather than visiting mother the teachers house so there is no irish/englosh dictionary in sight.. and ive yet to find an accurate irish translation site online

LadyConstanze -> RE: Is it disrespectful to address a Domme as Honey , Chicken, Bird etc (11/16/2008 2:03:26 PM)

Oh if I spelled it right it would mean FIRE, as in "Your pants are on fire"

FullfigRIMaam -> RE: Is it disrespectful to address a Domme as Honey , Chicken, Bird etc (11/16/2008 2:09:28 PM)

Definitely learned something new about Ireland today, yikes!
Ah yeah, it is considered disrespectful to behave in an excessively familiar way with strangers.    You don't walk up to a stranger in grab her butt, and if you're really couth, you don't call a lady honey, unless she is your lady, and likes that term of endearment.   M

well fucktoy , longhorn are a bit crude. Sweetcheeks is not too bad but it could be termed patronising by the Lady in question. Bird , chicken, is accepted by some but not all Women as a greeting, the safest is to call her by Her name
kevin

longhorn???  LMAO !!  That's excellent - now I have to clean my monitor again...

Just trying out Kevin's theory to music.. Now if the Archies were from Dublin their 1969 hit 'Sugar Sugar' might be...

Ostrich
Oh chicken, chicken
You are my fancied bird
And you got me wanting you

Seagull
Oh chicken, chicken
You are my fancied bird
And you got me wanting you

I just can't believe the loveliness of loving you
I just can't believe it's true
I just can't believe the wonder of this feeling too
I just can't believe it's true

Ostrich
Oh chicken, chicken
You are my fancied bird
And you got me wanting you

Oh seagull
Oh chicken, chicken
You are my fancied bird
And you got me wanting you

When I kissed you bird I knew how sweet a kiss could be
I know how sweet a kiss could be
Like summer sunshine pour your sweetness over me
Pour your sweetness over me

Oh pour a little chicken on me seagull
Pour a little chicken on me parrot
Gonna make love so sweet
Yeah yeah yeah
Pour a little chicken on me oh yeah
Pour a little chicken on me seagull
Pour a little chicken on me parrot
I'm gonna make love so sweet
Yeah yeah yeah pour a little chicken on me seagull

Ostrich
Oh chicken, chicken
You are my fancied bird
And you got me wanting you

Seagull
Oh chicken, chicken
You are my fancied bird
And you got me wanting you

Hmm.....
