How many pounds of pills have you swallowed in a lifetime??? I take so many pills I rattle. But, then, I am a brittle diabetic. The real reason for my weight is a decade of undiagnoised, out of control diabettes. The Amish do everything 'wrong' when it comes to eating healthy - they eat huge meals, heavy on the meat, high in fat, and finish off everything with a big ole hunk of pie. And, yet, they are some of the healthiest people in this country. Mostly, it is just proof that my youngest sons, the least health concise of any of my sons, attitude towards diet and nutrition works. He is a Marine. He says, 'Eat whatever you want, and burn it off'. There is some evidence that this might indeed be thehealthiest approach. The problem with Fat people being the paraihs that they are is people use it as an excuse to try to regulate the food industry. Everyone seems to have a distinct opinion on EXACTLY what others should eat. Well, spread your opinion around through education and - here it comes, bet you didn't see this coming - let the free market take care of it. I don't need anyone telling me I can't have my steak rare - one person telling me to eat only raw foods and another telling me to never eat anything white and someone else telling me to live on fried eggs and bacon but for G-d sakes don't eat a bannanna! Nutrition is really a lot simpler than that - most people who are focused on their nutrition do pretty well, even though they may all have differant systems. I noticed as an active member in a UU church, where about half the members are on restircitive diets for other than weight loss - for general health, spirtual reasons, political reasons, whatever - there were a lot of differant diets - vegitarian, metabolic, only organic, raw food, ect. But one thing all these people had in common - they all swore up and down that anytime they broke their diet, they felt like crap - just absolutely sick. I came to an opinion. I don't think that they are gettin sick when they eat the unhealthy food. I think the rest of us learn to put up with a low level of 'feeling sick' all the time, with poision cursing through our veins. People who make active decisions about what they eat, slowly get so healthy that they don't feel like that anymore. They used to, but they were used to it and didn't notice it. Then they get used to feeling healthy, and they eat a little crap, and, basicly, they feel like the used to feel all the time, but now they are no longer used to it. I believe this. And I believe it says something about what the food we eat does to our bodies. Has anyone seen the u-tube of the 6 year old happy meal?
