**Eta, on the morings I workout I don't have time to make coffee when I get home so I purchased these http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/nolterpharma/javarush.html
They provide a very subtle awakening. No sudden bursts of energy & sudden crashes like sugar does. I highly recommend these if you have a hard time getting started in the mornings.

OMG, I think I love you!!  When I was on the road I found a product called STOK, which is like a shot of espresso in one of those little plastic creamer-type containers.  I ended up buying a case of them because I couldn't find them everywhere.  I refuse to drink bad coffee, so they're great for getting the caffeine when the good coffee wasn't available.  I'm Norwegian & my grandparents gave me coffee when I was little.  That was some serious coffee, too.  Boiled in a stockpot & kept simmering on the back of the stove all day.

These are just tablets that disolve in your mouth. It takes about 2 minutes to disolve completely. I can send you a couple to try out 1st if you'd like.

How much sleep do you need, Lin??  Going to bed at 8pm seems a bit too early for me. I've gotten to the point I can go to bed at 11-11:30pm & still get up for my workouts. Not w/o some initial grumbling but it's doable.

Unfortunately, if I don't get my 8-9 hours' sleep every night, I'm fairly worthless & even will get physically ill.  I can get by on less for a day or two, but I feel awful.  Also there's that thing of waking up at 8pm no matter how tired I am before that & not being able to get to sleep till midnight or later then.

I work 2nd shift, 4 P.M. to atleast midnight, lots of mandatory overtime. My bodyclock seems to be set on those hours. I avoid the morning people rush hour drive to work and back. It is nearly impossible to get up early when I have to. I do get up, but I will walking sideways for a day.

Ahhhh, gotcha. Then by all means go to bed at 8pm. I definitely don't want you getting ill.

LinnaeaBorealis when I do have to get up early, I make sure I dont eat anything heavy before going to sleep, it will just churn in your stomach, I eat yogurt, it is light and I sleep well. I do alot of walking several hours before sleeptime, so I am good and tired and ready for sleep at sleeptime. I am the same way on needing a good 8 to 9 hours sleep. If I get a second wind at bedtime and stay up, I am in trouble. It will be a tossing a turning night for sure.
