They have those nifty alarm clocks now that can fly around the room. They let you hit snooze one time then if you try to shut it off or hit snooze again it starts flying up at the ceiling going off until you catch it and shut it off. By then you are too wide awake to go back to sleep, or so the theory goes.

So, if I just let it fly around the room would it start dive-bombing me or strafing??  Unless it's doing that, I don't think I'd much care where it flew to.  The kittens might enjoy chasing it though.

Please 'splain to me how calling & singing cheery little wake up songs to non early rising friends can be considered Love & the Bestest of Intentions???  Hmmmmmm????  I did start this thread so I could try to study the habits of the wily morning creature, so I would be interested in knowing the answer to this question.

To answer your question, please see previous post re: what won't wake me up.  And allow me to add here that one time I slept great all night long in my truck parked across the drive from a tire shop that was open & changing trailer tires all night long.  It's gonna take a lot more than a ringing phone or a flying alarm clock!

lol, I am a drafted morning person. Seven years ago I was enrolled in morning classes all summer long. I learned to get up at 5:30 and out the door because I HATE to be late to anything.

Now, several degrees later, I wake up around six and let the dogs put their paws on the side of the bed to say hello and "gotta go pee" in doggietalk. If I don't get up, it's looking for the mop---sooooooo.....

I make some coffee, turn on TV and rock for awhile. It makes for a nice, calm morning. Then, I figure out the rest of my day.

Sage.

I usually am up by 5 or 6am on the days I open at work. If I am not up by 6 the monster wakes me up with a wet nose.  The monster is a 2yr old 115lb puppy.

We(puppy and me) get up, let puppy outside, check the weather, make coffee, shower, let puppy back in, wash a load of clothes, do hair, makeup get clothes ready for work. As hard as I try I am just not organized enough to get my clothes ready the night before. Have second cup of coffee and check email, read the news online and am out the door at 8:30. I cannot be rushed, it ruins my day.

My other half is a night person. He is usually going to bed when I get up. Sometimes we attack each other as we cross paths and then I'm rushing to get ready. At those times I don't seem to get bent out shape about rushing I just flit around humming and smiling. Spankings and orgasms are wonderful things.

Good luck with your new job and with your mornings !!

"OOhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, it's nice to get up in the morning,
It's nice to get up in the morning!
It's nice to get up in the morningggggggggg!!

But it's nicer to stay in bed!!!!!!!"

My grandma used to sing that to us usually followed by a pitcher of ice water in the face if we didn't get up early enough to suit her - usually for fishing trips. Early morning rising can be a genetic thing.......

We sing bright and cheerful songs, watch the sun rise, do chores, annoy the hell outta nightowls, read quietly, pepper the boards with posts, all sorts of fun things! Wanna join in?

Before the little one was born I was a die hard night owl.  I still am if he's staying at his Grandparents for a night or two.
On the occasions that he's not here I have the server wake me by turning on the light, cranking the volume up to the full 240 Watts and playing Thin Lizzy at me!  Of course, before the UPS was in place I'd sleep through until 3pm after a power cut.

Nowadays my alarm clock is 2'6" and will scream blue murder if I'm not up when he is.

Linneae, if you want some advice setting up your machine to wake you just let me know.

Aren't there laws to protect children from such abuse???  My offspring is a morning person, but she must get that from the other side of her gene pool.

There are laws to protect morning people from being annoyed by night people, but no laws to protect me from you people.  I cry discrimination!!   Although, when I worked nights & slept days, I finally got fed up with the neighbor who consistently mowed his lawn in the middle of the day.  Inconsiderate boho!!  One night, I waited till his lights went out, turned on the floodlights in the back yard, cranked up the mower & gleefully mowed my lawn!!!
