Good morning all you morning people.  I am going to have to start getting up in the morning to go to work.  I began preparing for this by going to bed at 7:45pm last night.  This caused me to wake up at 3:45 this morning.  I tried to go back to sleep, but the critters thought it was very cool that I was awake & had to fawn all over me till I was completely awake & decided to get up.

I have been a night person my entire long life, so I'm kinda lost about what one does when one wakes up so early in the day.  It was dark when I got up & so I thought I would get to watch the sunrise, but it just sort of got lighter & then it was daytime.

I need suggestions so that I don't get bored completely out of my skull.  Bear in mind that I'm fairly crippled today & I live where there is winter comin on.  I need to be entertained enough that I don't just go back to bed.  Friday is my first shift that starts at 6am!  I wasn't really aware that there was a 6 in the am.

If all else fails you can always get up and read all the post on here.
What a better thing to do to pass the time.

Linea.. try going to bed about 9pm. If you're the type that normally sleeps 8hrs that should be good for you (depending, of course, on your 'getting ready' and travel time).

As far as what to do, personally, I just hang out online (*GASP*), or read.  Sometimes, if I'm feeling motivated (which is rare, these days), I'll use the time to do something productive (cleaning, laundry, etc).

I still cling to my *night person * card so I am kinda clueless outside of doing all the chores that can be done without waking anyone else in the house up ....

I have been thinking that it would be funning to go one morning ( like a sunday or saturday morning ) to a waffle house or whereever  people go in your town after the parties end and people watch ... but ... haven't done it yet ...
you could go watch the sunrise  and then in the evening watch the sun set and be thankful you got to see BOTH most do not
you can be chipper when all the night people wake up and are grumpy ..
you can play with your critters and celebrate the moments with em ( they are great aren't they ?)
like kristileigh shared come on the boards and spend a few moments .. heavens how about writing in your journal or start a journal ....
 just some ideas

Well, let's see. I get up at 4:30 - 5:30AM every day of the week.

Upon rising I immediate put on whatever clothes I will need to brave the outside elements, (right now it is the beginning of....many layers) to run dogs then feed horses. After my first trip outside, I start my coffee and make the dogs breakfast. I turn the computer on to see what the weather is supposed to be like, fix a cuppa, and head off to the shower.

At 6:00amish (Monday - Friday), I open the door to the bedroom of the other occupant here so that the dogs can tell him to wake up. Finish my stuff in the bathroom, makeup, hair, etc. Then I feed the dogs and get dressed for the day.

Weekends are slightly different in that I usually wait to shower until the end of the day and I don't worry about makeup and hair here on the farm. I also tend to have another cuppa while catching up on online reading. I also am either working out in the gardens or, if the day is going to be really hot, take an early morning ride.  In cold weather months like now, I start putzing the kitchen on the weekend mornings.

Wow, LaT, so you actually are able to dress yourself & find outdoors *before* coffee?  That is impressive.

So far this is like reading about another culture.

Speaking as a person more likely to be up this late, than up this early, your thread's title made me laugh.  Yes, morning people, tell us of your ways.  And take us to your leader.

I once had a Dr who was so fascinated by my being such a night person that he wanted to study me.  LOL  I love staying up all night, then sleeping in the daytime in the sun.  Never needed blackout curtains or eyemask.  In fact sometimes I leave a light on at night so that I can sleep better when I'm required to sleep at night.

*ever so gently hugglesnugglemolesticates all the NON morning folk*
….lol ... I'm one of those chirpy happy "morn'n folk ... been that way ALL my life!!!
I just posted a typical morning over in "I love it when ..."

I'm honestly awake by 4:00 a.m. EVERY morning .. Have a cup or 2 of coffee … by 5:00 I’m out with the horses … feed / water.. clean stalls, come back in … shower, have some breakfast.
Then go to my office (in the house) … get on line to check/read/respond to various personal email addys ... then check "on line" business reports / schedule appropriate changes / update daily business / go through my day planner / start calling my business associates and my personal workout partner … we talk about what’s current, what our days will include and we usually challenge one another for specific “personal” business goals
If my morning schedule allows … I go check out a couple of other “on line” forums I have memberships with … then I come here
Ohh and MSN a bit here n there where I have time
( when I spend my day at home / working ... I get to be in n out of CM all day

I'm beginning to see a theme here.  In order to be a morning person, one must own horses.  That must be why I've been a night person since I was a child.  Horses dislike me.

...nahhhhh ... it's not the horses that make me an early riser ... it's just me ... and that I have Sooo freak'n MUCH to do in a day I need the extra "morning" hours

Awwwwwwww Linnaea ...
it's ok if YOU don't care for horses ... they're not everyone's cuppa tea ... but I don't believe for a moment that horses "dislike" You .. if You've had bad encounters with particular horses, ... I'm betting the fault lays in the circumstance

No, really.  I like horses.  I would love to be around them more, but most take a dislike to me & they're bigger than me & weigh more.  I did have a pretty good relationship with an old Shetland Pony once.  The Welsh was just plain mean, though.

Being a morning person runs in my family. My dad is always up around 4AM. It's nothing for him to call me at 6AM or for my brother to stop by on Saturday or Sunday morning around 5:30 or 6 for some coffee and chat.

uhhh huh ... I can understand that LaTigresse .. *nodding*
I start getting calls at 6:00 a.m. from all the other "early morning folk"
The ones that know me well (family, the vet, friends) call earlier because they know they can
And I LOVE it when we have time to arrange early morning breakfasts meetings

Hmmmm....this morning thing is beginning to sound more & more fun.  Where does one find other morning people to go to early breakfasts with?  Are there support groups?
