i know that is the most horrible punishment i could ever receive, being told i disappointed Him and how unacceptable i am.  It would crush me and make much more of an impression than humiliation or temporary physical pain.

The worst punishment is no spanking, no torture, no debasing kissing of feet… no… nothing.

But it's much, much better not to arrive at such an impasse.

The difference between play and punishment should be markedly clear. i am under orders to ask if i think i am being punished for something and am not sure. It would be really hard to confuse the two though, due to His protocols concerning punishment.

If He is spanking me because He just wants to, i know that is why... if i want a spanking, i need only let Him know, i don't have to act up to get one. He doesn't punish me for the fun or it, or set me up to fail so that He can. He doesn't need to.

i know a girl who is a pain slut. she has had paddles broken on her more than once (one time by my Master). she seems as though she barely feels even the hardest whack. But if she is punished, one medium swat with a paddle is all it takes to move her tears. The intent of the paddling, the emotional view of it, the feeling of having disappointed -- the entire mindset is different and it would be a pretty obtuse girl who couldn't tell the difference.

If you're having to do tons if disciplinary work, and are always disciplining them,  because they're always misbehaving, or have behavioral problems, I feel, either you're mishandling the relationship, or they're just not that serious about being in the relationship.

     I don't have a punishment/reward dynamic with my slave. "Funishment" yes, but that's a completely different subject...

   My slave is not willfully disobedient to me, because I have no use for a such a slave. A pattern of willful disobedience over time would be cause for release, so I was  careful to choose a slaveboy who is very comfortable and happy being obedient to me.

A few times I've had him write me a paragraph or two, when he's made an honest mistake. The assignment is to write about what he did wrong and why, and what he can do (he can also suggest things I might do to help) to avoid making the same mistake in the future.

My preferred form of "punishment" is to ignore her... I offer a masochist pain as a reward, not punishment

Favorite? I don't enjoy punishing any more than the one punished. However, the most effective is a disapproving look or a shake of my head. The emotional bond a Pet has allows that to be devastating.

The one I truly despise having to go to - and have had to use only twice.... the water box.

Even the catergories listed on the site each have a very broad insight depending on the person I've come to find out. Everyone here has different ideas on it all and I am just moseying on through and learning what I can.

So you have read all the variations on answers to your question and question as revised. I understand you are here learning, but something draws you here to begin with and you have had some reaction to the wide range of answers offered.

What sense do you make of all these answers, for yourself, and for who you are, where you are now in your learning and experience? Consider this an optional question that you needn't answer here if you are not ready to do so; I just felt a sense it needed to be posed to you.

     The waterbox is designed as a fear tool. Constrained while it is flooded, it causes massive fear, especially when the person administering the punishment is out of sight and often thought to be out of the area (though I would never leave, merely give the impression of it.)

     The reason I despise it is manyfold - first because its almost the end "punishment" - if I have to go much farther its a dismissal, second because I have to use it outside. The first time I used it, it was inside and when the Pet could take no more and I had to get the water out fast - it went all over the concrete floor and there is not a drain there. Forgot to look ahead on that one LOL.

Punishment: For me punishing a slave means to teach through discipline, to cause real discomfort. If he likes Bondage or spankings than that would not be punishment. Perhaps a good whipping would be. It depends on the person and the relationship you have built.

What a slave really craves is attention, the ability to serve and give pleasure to their Master. I can think of nothing harder on a slave than being denied that. Maybe corner or couch time turned to the wall.  Being left to his thoughts for awhile. Things like edging and chastity are not punishment either,  they are pleasurable pain.

I'm interested in what other Master's use as real punishment when you are displeased or angry.

Gage, I'm not going to start in on what makes a dominant 'real' or 'very real' but a good and competent dominant doesn't punish while angry. Because while angry you are likely to overreact causing long lasting damage to the submissive's trust in you and destroying the relationship. Additionally, since most mistakes are caused by miscommunication, and you then afterwards discover that you harshly punished someone because of your inability to express yourself properly, there is no way for you to make up for what you've done.

Good dominants calm down first and discover what happened and why. For instance, he could order me to change the oil in the car all he wants and beat me bloody and he'll still not have it happen. Since I don't know how to do it. A good dominant would find out how to teach the submissive what it is he wants, make sure that he or she can do it, and that it won't cause them damage. Demanding a lawyer show up in court wearing a see through blouse is something that would damage her career permanently. Being angry because she properly refused to do that would prove you an ass.

Discovering that she had to go into work unexpectedly when she thought she had the day off and could wander around the house scantily dressed would add to your trust factor when you rescinded the order. Or when you found out afterward she didn't do as you asked, and you calmed down and asked why not first.

Moreover, a dominant who has earned the trust and submission of the sub is one who isn't going to be disobeyed without reason. If you have to enforce your will with constant force, then you aren't very competent as a dominant.

I don't enjoy punishing anyone...but if forced to the punishment I do the most is caning their feet. It stings like HELL and then as it diminishes they feel it for several days when they walk until it's completely gone. It also doesn't make marks.

Of course, now they'll be 15 pages of criticism about how bad this is, what an awful Master and person I must be, etc, etc. And I'll also get at least 5 messages filled with expletives so bad that I can't repeat them anywhere.

Well, YEAH. I mean, I'm not going to say any of those things to you - I would not say the 'bad Master' part, anyway -
But, I am thinking, if I were yours, and you punished me this way, I'd probably say a few things you couldn't repeat anywhere.
As I do to Himself, when he choses to start in on my feet, rather this way or tickling. (Okay, what I usually say is 'His. His. His.' But what I WANT to say, can't be repeated here. ::chuckle:: )

Well gosh, I do think its bad, but I like to be polite. My concern is that there are a lot of little bones in feet, and therefore a lot of opportunity to cause harm. How can you make sure that you won't break anything?

I didn't see it, but if I missed it, I'll repeat it....buttplug covered in bengay. I used this a few times once on each slave (had 3 girls under one roof)...this was, for them, the ultimate punishment because for them, well seasoned girls, they never felt anything so discomforting before. It works well and I never had to punish them again for anything.

Punishment is not something I take lightly, and all my girls were very well behaved. However, when they stepped out of line, I fit the punishment to the crime and never exceeded that punishment. Plus, if one applies the right form of punishment, the girl learns the effects both mental and physical it plays on her owner.
