Status: offline 		Why is this so important to a Dom/Domme? Same question can be applied to HWP?

Status: offline 		Probably for the same reason it is important to people in vanilla relationships.  If a relationship is going to work long term, the majority of the time it must have some sort of physical chemistry.

Status: offline 		it's the same as in any sort of relationship. hopefully people will take the time to get to know you, but appearance is the initial "eye-catching" factor =p no pun intended

Certainly what is on the inside is important. However...if that was the only factor, then you are disallowing us our preferance for height, hair color, etc. There are certain types each of us are attracted to. It is human nature.

Status: offline 		Every time i hear 'its on the inside the counts' i think of my 7th grade bio class, i remember the teacher saying that an animal picks people for the genes they have... most of the time the innicial converstation comes from looks first. at that point the animal starts to ruffle up some feathers, stand really tall, and/or look really confident to get the other animals attention and then its all about the mating call, the thought behind the conversation. The person then decides if ones personallity meshes well with its own (since humans tend to want lifetime partner/s) time is spent.

However, it all starts with a little bit of physical attraction.

Status: offline 		I admit that I am initially attracted to what a person looks like eg. nice eyes, nice smile however it is what is on the inside that keeps me attracted in the long term

Yeah we do but its a kinda bollocks phrase. If the person I am with isnt physically pleasing to me then im not going to be happy, no you cant have a relationship where looks are the only thing going for it but it does have to be a base of the formation.

Status: offline 		I have a question, you don't have any preferences for physical characteristics that make you swoon? I think we all do, and it's not a matter of not having any, it's a matter of can you deal with what a person looks like, will there be chemistry and that is a hard thing to put into words. Chemistry isn't exactly appearance, although it does have a certain amount of that quality. So I would say, it's Chemistry, then what's on the inside, Chemistry is what separates us from friendship, if not you'd be dating them. LOL

  Like what some have said, i don't rely entirely on physical appearance. The main physical thing that i look for is the smile and the eyes. And for me, and i know it's different for everyone, i like a person when they are taller than me and a few extra pounds is what i go for. Thank you greeneyedreamer for your chemistry analysis. And i do agree that chemistry does play a big role in whether someone is compatiable with another person or not.

Status: offline 		Appearance is important to everyone.  Some people have higher "squick thresholds" than others, and what constitutes attractiveness is also different for everyone, but appearance does matter, in one form or another.

It *may* not matter to a Top, for whom a bottom is simply a means to an end (or for a bottom seeking a Top for that matter).  But as many have said previously, it's unrealistic not to expect appearance to matter to anyone seeking a relationship regardless of their lifestyle.

Status: offline 		A man could be the smartest, sweetest funny guy in the world, but if I have to plug my nose, wipe his chin or look at eye buggers... I won't want to see what might be hiding in his pants.  A person has to have 'something' and in some cases... anything(!)  because they don't try to make themselves appealing to someone else.  I have met people that some thought were ugly, but I found something attractive about them and I would have done them.  (Or did.)

If the 'what's in the heart' means an excuse to not take care of yourself, eat like a pig and somehow seem as though you don't care about yourself... it may be harder to find someone and I am not interested for sure.

Status: offline 		It matters but it's not the end all and be all to me....personality matters much more in the long run.  If I can't relate to their personality, they could be absolutely gorgeous and it wouldn't matter....

I have known as well as be involved with people who were very attractive as far as apperance goes but on the inside...venomous and toxic...and very...shallow...
 
Over time and with experience...people like that are not the kind of people I will allow into my home...
