Try the balloons they use for making balloon animals Gwyn..they work fine and are not so obvious. Tighter seal as well.

I didnt have any ballons on hand at the time.. but since the condoms proved to be useless.. ( um.. I got pregnant) I figured at least they would be a good use for them. *snickers*

Somehow I feel that may win the "Most Appropriate Pirate Name" competition , before it really got started.

Also, I do like Woodchuck brand.

My favourite is PEAR cider!  Totally THUD worthy!

Any Idea if they do a DRY one ? , I've heard they make it from "Granny Smiths" (not one of Missts recipes , just in case anyone asks) which I've not found , their "Amber" is a bit sweet (I get the idea cider is sweetened artificialy here).

Woodchuck has been bought by Bulmers , who make many ciders in England , "Strongbow" and "Bulmers Original" being their main brands , and I know Strongbow can be bought here (somewhere).

Guessing from your comment about Perry (you call it "pear cider) it sounds like your taste is sweeter than mine.

Any suggestions welcome.

I'd like to thank my Norwegian family for the ethnic name that they gave me that produced such a wondrous Pirate name.  It is appropriate, isn't it??  [8D]

Farmhouse (REAL) cider is my favourite
I recommend Ben Crossmans and Black Rat but the BEST CIDER ON THIS PLANET is made by Roger Wilkins at Lands End Farm , Mudgley , Near Wedmore in Somerset , England. (Trust me , theres none worthy of note I've not tried in all England and only England has the right apples as well as climate and technique to make such stuff) (you see ...... there is SOMETHING I credit England for ! )

Green Goblin ,Thatchers Gold ,Sheppy's Bullfinch, are all very good as packaged/bottled goes

Over the bar (so long as there's none of the above ilk , I'll settle for Strongbow , Scrumpy Jack , Stowford etc if it's well kept.

Just in case you hadn't noticed yet ..... I am something of a cider expert when it comes to our local islands.

As far as the Magners , they changed the recipe shortly after they re-branded it as Magners it lost something special and whilst it's a fine drink of cider , it's not "special" anymore)

Here endeth the Sermon

Ohh sorry I am not an expert I like lots and lots of bubblyness in my cider. My friends bloke makes cider at home I havent risked it yet as its apparently very very stong.

Have you been to the pub in bath? You pay something on the door and then can drink as much cider as you like while you are there (no seats or anything though) I totally cant remember the name

piratecommander -> RE: February 6th, 2009 (1/30/2009 2:02:47 PM)

No but I've heard of it happening , maybe its the same place.

The chap I mention , Roger , has regular Pig Roasts at his barn (he has excellent cheese too) . You pay in and you can eat as much as you want and drink as much cider as you want it's good value as you get a band too.(two if you drink enough cider .... you end up seeing double)
It's off the beaten track but he gets good bands (some well known people are cider drinkers) I will give only one example as a couple of celebs who "might" live nearby would not thank me for mentioning them
For many years Rogers barn was a popular haunt of Joe Strummer.

Tips for drinking real cider ..... beware the sugar and yeast content of your stomach and in what you otherwise consume whilst ascending to heaven ..... ignorance of this is why most people who can't deal with real cider can't.
