I'll put the pedal down if I'm on the freeway and I need to put a lot of miles behind me. However, there is nothing deliberately aggressive about my driving, even when I am in a hurry; I tend to view my car as a potentially lethal force and I am not interested in killing a person I have ever met over a vehicular ego tussle. I slow to a relative crawl in the rain and poor weather conditions, I do not ride other people's bumpers, yadda yadda--not because I am particularly mild-mannered, but because I am not interested in being at fault in an accident, and personal experience has taught exactly how fast most cars CANNOT stop if the car ahead of you slams on the brakes.

Take into account, of course, that I am nearly 40 and have learned to control and manage my aggressions in various ways. I cringe to think of the way I drove as a teenager, in much the same way that I cringe to think of the people I hurt in fights that I could have avoided. *shrug* C'est la vie, I guess.

If you say you are a good driver or honest or anything... why do people say you must not be because you said you were?  So everyone who says something about themselves, you consider them to be lying.  Wow! Somebody got burned and jaded!  To assume they lie... even worse... to point it out... well... do we assume you really didn't mean it?

People go too far sometimes... I mean really!  Oh shit... did I just say what I meant or what someone will assume I meant?

I think this is great.  I have driven all over the United States in both cars, trucks and 18 Wheelers.  I must say the worst state to drive in is New York.  Followed closely by Florida.  Of course you can not forget California.  LA, New York City and Atlanta some of the worst cities.
However, most drivers are courteous.  Driving fast and being cautious is good.  Lady H, don't worry about what someone else thinks...It is just not worth it.  Thanks all for answering.
I think we can safely say the dominant women like to put their foot down and go!

I only drive agressively on the track....

It is a known fact that male drivers are the more aggressive.  However, I was wondering if female dominants are aggressive drivers or just fast drivers?  And if there is any connection between a female dominant, her occupation and how she drives.
I know a lot of female real estate agents and they all seem to drive fast.  Same applies to female attorneys.  I know several accountants and they are not fast drivers.
Any thoughts?

Actually, Beeble, I am not overestimating my skills in the slightest.   Thanks for making that charming assumption, though!

You try driving here in Richmond, BC and see just how long you last without a few scratches on your vehicle. Guarnatee. if they hit, it will be you buying them a new Mercedes and paying their son to go to UBC because you crippled them from whiplash.
The year girl stopped driving, was when driving a 1-ton special fully loaded, miata cut me off and girl had to drop it in reverse or girl would have made road pizza of the miata and of course right on my bumper some old guy sitting on my bumper, of course only cracked the shell of his bumper, but he wanted a whole new front end because it didn't look brand new any more.
Girl drove 7 years, within 2 years, just said that's it, girl can not afford to drive here, my ass burned for a week.

I drove a car that used to beg me to go fast because it was so smooth, but after a couple of stops, I no longer did that.   I can be an aggressive driver on occasion, when I'm feeling impatient; but most days, I go the speed and am a safe/defensive driver who watches out for speeding people who can't drive around me.    M

How I drive depends. Which vehicle I am driving, am I alone in the car, what the traffic is like, what road am I on, what is the condition of the road annnnnnnd last but not least, what music am I listening to and what is my frame of mind.

A me too post
I do drive faster when alone in my car, without passengers.

I am more cautious when driving with passengers or heavy traffic.  When out on a highway at night with few cars around I pick up the pace but do not go for broke.  You never know where the CHP speed trap might be hiding.

In the UK, if you drive into the back of somebody you were following, it's more-or-less automatically your fault for driving too close.  He'd have been paying for the repairs to his car and any damage he did to the back of yours..

Excuse me but I didn't say that.  First, I said that people usually over-estimate their competence.  Second, my statement was restricted to judgements about one's own competence.  Third, a genuinely-held belief, even if mistaken, is not a lie.

I drive like a granny.  But then, I drive crappy old cars with no get up and go in a small city where there is no reason to get in a hurry.

Back when I lived in Atlanta, I learned to drive very aggressively out of self defense.  Back then, I had a little Chevette with a crunched front fender.  (That was my ex-husband's fault, not mine!)  It was very good for changing lanes.  All I did was turn the blinker on and stick that crushed fender in front of an expensive car.  They ALWAYS yielded because it jolly well looked like I had already hit someone and obviously had no insurance or money to fix it.

Driving... YUCK. The "why" its a "yuck" for me isn't something I feel like sharing right now but it is. I drive only when I must and I try to do it when there is little traffic and early in the morning when I'm most fully awake.

I feel far more dominant when I sit next to the driver or in the back seat and just tell him where to go. I tend to be the navigator to new places. Now I'm totally spoiled because my husband is one of these people who not only can learn how to drive somewhere from driving once but has this amazing direction sense so if the way is blocked or something he can figure out a new path within minutes. Sadly neither my slave nor I can do that.

I have to drive!  Besides a tendency toward carsickness (Love that Meniere's!) I have one of those perfect directional senses, too.  I am not timid, ice, fog, and snow do not frighten me (and I understand pesky things like stopping distance), and I just adore driving.

Variable. When I'm by myself, I'm the classic Boston driver- stubborn as hell and disinclined to give way to anything other than emergency vehicles. I only speed a little, though.

The minute someone else is in the car I become the picture of law-abiding driving, mostly because I'll take all kinds of chances with my own safety but I won't risk my passenger no matter what the hurry may be.

I drive an SUV in self-defense as East Coast highways are infested with non-driving loons. While I admit to being a 'deliberate' driver, I'm not an aggressive one - or a leadfoot. Being in a bigger vehicle just means I can slide farther if things get out of control. That's not to say I havent driven over a sidewalk or two to avoid a problem caused by an indecisive driver.

I'm a project manager - which means I tend to consider possible outcomes before I commit to a course of action. "If I drive over that stupid little econobox in front of me, I'll probably be late for the meeting AND have a tacky looking little car stuck in my axle'
