TexasMaam -> oh goody, it's Christmas........ (12/14/2008 11:44:51 AM)

The stress and hype of Christmas Commerce has taken it's toll.

I find Myself wishing it were Dec 26th and wanting Christmas to be over and done with.

I'm not a 'bah humbug' sort, I have enjoyed some wonderful Christmas memories and have always held to the belief that the Holidays are what you make of them.

This year, though, I'm completely devoid of that old fashioned Christmas Spirit.  I don't have the interest, or the energy, to even tie a bow.  I am looking forward to cooking on Christmas day, but beyond that I can't wait for the season to be over.

And as far as WIITWD is concerned, I don't have the energy to hold a whip.

I wish I could fly away to a warm tropical beach and tie a red ribbon on a palm tree, swing in a hammock and watch the surf roll in.

Any other Dommes out there feeling a little disconnected this year?

LadyPact -> RE: oh goody, it's Christmas........ (12/14/2008 12:00:14 PM)

I'm sorry the Christmas spirit hasn't quite made it's way to your doorstep.

I have to admit, I'm kind of middle of the road here.  Due to some contributing factors these past few months, I'm probably not feeling the season as much as I usually do.  There have been some issues that contribute to that, which I won't go into here.  It's sufficient to say that not everything is going perfectly in the Pact world.

Along with this, I have to say that My focus is much more centralized on the fact that I am counting down the single digit days to My husband returning home on leave from Korea.  In My mind, that has little to do with Christmas.  It just happens to be coincidence and I care much more about one than the other.  Christmas will only last a day.  My husband's leave will last for a month.

I probably won't see clip on time for Christmas, but the three of us are hoping that, sometime during the month before My husband returns overseas, the three of us will have the opportunity to spend time as a family again.  Already being so grateful that one of them will be home, I almost think having both of them here is too much to ask.  If for some reason the stars align and the heavens open up and someone smiles on Me, you folks probably won't hear the end of it.

Of course, that just means you'll all have to listen to Me bitch and whine come January when we're all scattered to different places on the globe again.  I'm proud of them both beyond belief, but one of these days, I'm kicking Mistress Military's ass.

Personally - I cant wait and am dreading christmas all in one.

I cant wait because this is the first year my lil one is in-tune to Santa and excited. Shes bubbling with excitement over the christmas tree, decorations, presents and Santa.

I am dreading it as my brother (who I am closest to in my family) is leaving for Australia two days later. God only knows when we will see each other again.

So a roller coaster happy and sad for me.

I tend to ignore the the whole commercialism part, it's not always easy, but it's doable.  And I found other reasons to live for this time of year. :)

After all, what is cuter than a kitten, or naked sub laying under the christmas tree? [:D]

youngsubgeoff -> RE: oh goody, it's Christmas........ (12/14/2008 2:44:43 PM)

Bah fuckin humbug [:D]

No snow, no hockey, no tackling old ladies and pretending I slipped on the ice [>:]

However, I have Mistress and a little 4 month old beagle named lucy here, so al is well [:D]

Ugh!  My back hurts.  Spent all afternoon baking.  If my friend MsMinx811 had not come down to help, I probably would have sat down and played a video game instead... but I DID need to make some oatmeal raisin cookies for my boy who is sending me a rather large gift.  He deserves something really nice.  And home made cookies are about the best thing I can think of at the moment.

Vendaval -> RE: oh goody, it's Christmas........ (12/14/2008 6:19:59 PM)

You just described my typical mood for this time of the year.  Just add in some cabana boys and girls serving tropical cocktails with little umbrellas in them and scuba and snorkling adventures and it's all good.

Well, it IS true that the family is spending the 20th-25th on the beach in Ft Lauderdale...  though whether it will be *warm* is debatable.  I've only had a few tropical xmases, and half of them involved winter coats!

LaMistressa -> RE: oh goody, it's Christmas........ (12/14/2008 6:35:45 PM)

On one hand, I'm not doing a tree this year (and I love having a live tree) and the maid and I are cutting back on presents to keep to a budget. On the other hand, I'm excited that I am flying to see family for a week - I haven't seen them in a year. So, I'm a little bit blue about the lack of Christmas at home, but I know it will get better once I leave town.

aidan -> RE: oh goody, it's Christmas........ (12/14/2008 6:53:23 PM)

I know I'm not a Domme, but...

Nope. No problems here. I'm a little upset that Mistress will be away for a few days, but she gets back right as my vacation starts, I finally have money to buy presents this year, and I'm going to be making an awesome Christmas Eve dinner.

Even with no tree, no snow and very few presents I'm loving the hell out of this Christmas.

MasterFireMaam -> RE: oh goody, it's Christmas........ (12/14/2008 10:39:06 PM)

I'm looking forward to it, but mainly because we're going to have a game night with some friends on my birthday (very close to Christmas). I have no money to shop, so I don't have to worry about that! It's rather freeing, actually. I'll be spending the day with my girlfriend and another friend. They'll be cooking, I'll probably be writing on the laptop in the kitchen or something equally nice. My girl and her husband are going to their inlaws (I was invited, but turned it down), but we're going to do something fun for my brithday (although I don't know what). All in all, it sounds like a nice time.

AlexandraLynch -> RE: oh goody, it's Christmas........ (12/14/2008 11:01:14 PM)

I am, and I'm not.

Not: I have borne three children. I will see none of them. I don't want to discuss that further. The loss is wearing very heavily on my husband.

Am: I've worked out what symbols and rituals really matter to me, and to my husband, and am making them happen. And knowing that I'm doing what matters to me helps. I cannot make the Christmas happen that my heart longs for. But I also cannot be eight again and go to my grandparents' house. Given the realities of life, I am going to have an entirely satisfactory Christmas. And that is all right.

MsStarlett -> RE: oh goody, it's Christmas........ (12/15/2008 4:29:19 AM)

For those who like to get creative in the kitchen... I just posted my Chocolate Orgasm recipe in the Off Topic section.  Those normally get everyone in the mood for something.

**Warning!  Chocolate Orgasms are dangerous to diabetics and heart patients.  Just reading the ingredients could cause coma or cardiac arrest.

put some mango's, some sunscreen, fresh seafood and beer in that scene and you have what some aussies consider the perfect christmas!

a game of beach cricket sometimes optional, sometimes mandatory [:D]

Lashra -> RE: oh goody, it's Christmas........ (12/15/2008 4:56:32 AM)

I usually love the xmas holiday but this year I could really care less. I would not have bothered with a tree if my daughter had not said something about it. I just do not seem to have the xmas spirit and I think its because of the turbulent times that many of us are going through right now.

So yeah, bah humbug.

MsStarlett -> RE: oh goody, it's Christmas........ (12/15/2008 5:01:13 AM)

I was hoping to finish decorating the tree while I did my Christmas baking yesterday... however, my husband decided to use that time to clean out an extremely cluttered corner and set up a display of all his Christmas Town toys.  (You know, Rudolf, the elf that wanted to be a dentist, the misfit toys and the Bumble.)  That blocked the entire living room so I couldn't even get to the couch to sit down!  *eye roll*  I really should beat my husband.  He often deserves it.

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: oh goody, it's Christmas........ (12/15/2008 5:34:14 AM)

sometimes i still do dread the approaching holidays from shopping at the crowded stores for presents people will only appreciate for 2 seconds to annoying Christmas songs re-played over and over again until my head aches. in the past, i've threatened to cancel Christmas because of the commercialism that overshadows the religious significance of the season.

however, i do my best to enjoy it for my girls even if it means wearing a fake smile.

housesub4you -> RE: oh goody, it's Christmas........ (12/15/2008 5:52:56 AM)

This year I did all my shopping online.  No crowds and everything was delivered without being broke.

We put up a Xmas Tree and the cats are taking it down peice by piece.

We are not going anywhere this, last year we just stayed home and sat by the fireplace next to the tree and enjoyed the quiet of the moment.  Was the best dam Xmas ever.  We are hoping to repeat that this year.

I'll bake some sweets (chocolate orgasms recipe has been printed and added to stack) then just watch the time drift by.

That is until the child wakes up.

I'm rather indifferent to the holidays. I keep my household calm and quiet and hold out for Jan 2 when most people stop acting like they've lost their minds.

In the words of Kenny Chesney, 'All I want for Christmas is a real good tan' LOL
