My father wanted to give me the middle name of Shoena (prob. spelled wrong but kinda pronounced Shy-na - almost). fortunately, before it was official, my folks realized that if they had named me that I would have gone through life with the initials A.S.S.

Mom wanted to name me Emily Elizabeth, which i don't have any problems with.  It's a very pretty name, imho.

My dad's mother wanted to name me 'Cookie'. [>:]

No idea what Dad wanted to name me.

Ok, I confess.  The name on my original birth certificate was Beatrice Louise.  There was a smallpox scare in Seattle the year I was born & nobody was allowed to visit my mom in the hospital.  I was born 6 weeks early, so I guess they hadn't figured out a name for me yet.  When the vital statistics person came to ask my mother what my name was, she came up with that.  When she brought me home 10 days later & told her family what she had named me everyone had hissy fits & came up with Linea Christine.  When I changed my name after the divorce, I dropped the Christine because she always would scream the 2 names when she was pissed at me.

But my sister's vote for my new name after the divorce was an ancestor's name:  Jamima Alvira Darling.  I let her believe she actually had a vote & overruled her.

Family folklore has it that my mom originally wanted to name me Ramona.  Thank God Dad stopped her.

My first name is Shylah.

A kinda funny story.. I had a foster mother when I was 13 who couldn't remember my name, and asked me if I had any nicknames. I told her my mother used to call me "Lizzy" (no idea on that one, as my middle name is Kay.) From then on, she called me Liz, and when she was mad, I was Elizabeth.

Heather....pretty common among the younger generations but when I was growing up it
was not a very common name....My dad wanted to name me Susie so he could call me SusieQ...Mom wouldn't
so became Heather Susan...so dad could me Susieq if he wanted...

I was named Thomas, after my paternal grandfather who died about the time I was born. But I am called a lot of things, some friends know me as Tom while some others call me Thomas.

When I was about three I tried to learn to write my name while looking at it in the mirror for some unknowable reason, and of course it came out moT and I thought that was how I spelled my name, and I wrote it on things all over the house.

Needless to say I still hear about that sometimes.

Shut up GT!  When Sweets and I have a Daughter, Her name is going to be Porsche Lynn.  There was a reason behind it.  My dad wanted to name me that because he said "That is the only way I will be able to afford a Porsche"  Cute right??  Well, my mom wouldn't have it... So I am going to name her that for my dad.  Because God knows I would never name a child Larry.... Not like that's a nickname for Lawrence or anything.  On His birth Certificate, it says Larry... YUCK!!

Fannie, Porsche is one thing.. but Porsche Carrera??  Can you imagine the teasing you'd have gotten as a kid?
