Personally I'd be impressed at his know-how and a little concerned that he didn't have enough to do that he could have enough time to listen to my phone calls (which I don't usually have and tend to plan around his schedule anyway).

the other day an elderly woman stopped by the house.  she walked up the driveway and called Master's daughter by name...saying that she found the house by driving around and looking for someone washing the car in the driveway.

about 5 minutes earlier, Master had been on the phone telling someone that His daughter(calling her by name) was washing her car in the driveway.

she explained that she doesn't have a portable phone, only a landline, yet she can hear our conversations...and even our phone ringing on her phone...and has been for some time, she just never knew which house to approach until those clues were heard.  she lives around the corner, on another street from us and told us she would be contacting the phone company.

totally wierd...and totally unintentional.

Have you actually asked him how he knows the details of private phone conversations?

I wondered this, also.

I only use my cell phone.  Not sure he could tap that.  If he did, I'd be impressed at his skills, and I'd likely be gone.  My former owner had my webcam/mic up on my computer 24/7 and could stealthily "peek in" and watch/listen any time he could, and often did. But I knew he was doing that, which made a difference to me.  Had I discovered later, I'd be walking around paranoid of my own thoughts.  No thanks.  It's just sneaky behavior, and I am turned off by sneaky behavior.  Play "007" on your own time, thank you very much!

Sorry didnt read through the whole thread so I am probably a day late and a doller short.  Yes you can purchase bug detectors from places like radio shack. A little red light comes on when your bugged. Now... if the dom used something like a clothes pin with wire wraped around it to pick up the EM instead of a direct tap then there is no way to detect it.  However... that kind of tap usually requires a pre-amp with batteries so not many use that type because the bats go dead and its somewhat large.  You usually have to broadcast it with a transmiter to a seperate recorder or you can mod some of the internet hardware to direct it through the internet but again there are size limitiations that they have to work with.

What dom?

If he actually is listening in on her private conversations without her consent, he has security issues, truth issues, and erm...domliness issues.
(oh, and creeeeepiness issues...)

Are you his slave? If not, well...

Yes I have had it tapped, as well as mail monitored in and outgoing (old snail maile). All telephone calls were monitored to my family and friends.

In this day and time, being older and wiser I wouldn't tolerate it, what you do is your business.  If you decide that it is an invasion of privacy then notify him or others that it must stop, if not, then tell him you do not like it.

Notify him of your discomfort first, not us.  If all fails, call authorities because it is downright illegal.

Sorry this stuff does not work for phone wire taps. It can work to detect an open receiver source, but that is all.

"
Are there products I can buy to find out if my phone is tapped?
No. Devices can be purchased which claim to detect phone taps. Let the buyer beware. Experts say there are no devices that can reliably detect any current wiretapping technology.

To be successful, a "tap detector" must detect a change in the electrical characteristics of a telephone line, such as a voltage drop, or a change in the characteristics of signals that are transmitted over a telephone line. Most of the wiretapping techniques used today, whether authorized for law enforcement use or conducted illegally, do not produce changes in line or signal characteristics.

"Tap detectors" may be able to detect someone "listening in" by picking up an extension phone, and may be able to detect someone cutting a telephone line.  However, neither of these occurrences may be considered a "wiretap," strictly speaking, and neither of these occurrences is necessary in order for someone to connect a wiretap to your line.  Those with experience in telephone technology advise consumers to disregard the claims of companies that sell "tap detectors." hmmmmmm...this reminds me of the late 60's and early 70's with all this talk about phone tapping. Then wasn't boyfriends, etc. Anyone who would want to tap my phone today would not have a chance to answer any questions from me. I would be out the door. That is totally untolerated by me, no way.

That i stotally creepy, and more than a little wierd.  Sounds to me that this "dom" has major trust issues.  I would think lomg and hard about staying with him.  It is a very large waving red flag.

You know, there's groovy posessiveness and then there's creepy stalkiness.  Each unto their own but I must say, tapping my phone would have me in war mode!
You mentioned not wanting the person to get in trouble but I'd be somewhat concerned about your overall and long-term safety in dealing with this individual.  I think I'd feelinclined to make a report of this and look into it with depth even if you did nothing further in case something more happens somewhere down the road.  I am not necessarily trying to freak you out but I am saying that this sort of behavior would freak meout, piss me off, and cause me to get that person away from me and mine, including changing the locks, possibly changing my number, etc.  It just seems not okay.

I have a receiver that will pickup cordless phone calls and cell phones within a serveral block area.  Not sure if they sell them anymore.

I would not confront a man that was doing this.  I would be preparing to protect myself and anyone he knows and finding a professional to find what is there.  It might be hard to prove he did it, but the professional can prove it was there and would help in any legal setting. (protective orders)  But I would be gone.  Why take a chance?  If he believes he has a right to do this and he does it... what kind of mind or emotions are you dealing with?  You don't want to get legal?  Well that is always an option, but if you confront him and he knows it is illegal and he is caught or thinks he is... that is when things can get real interesting and... dangerous.

This isn't kink and if someone claims it is... it isn't with her permission or agreement.  That is criminal and dangerous.  If you don't believe me... google some domestic abuse data and how many die every day.  That isn't a nosy dominant...

I had a um monitor that picked up what was happening three houses away.  I could hear their radio and everything they said.

In the USA this is illegal. Not sure about other laws. If he did this to me I might well be pissed enough to file charges. But even if I didn't, the relationship would still be over. I have to say that if someone distrusts their partner that much, then the relationship is over, just not yet buried.

If I was involved with a Dominant that did something that I considered to be illegal or immoral, I'm not sure how I would feel about putting myself in a position where i would have to trust them.  I want to have nothing but good feeling when I'm restrained.

I'm going against the tide on this one.  It wouldn't bother me in the least, though I would consider it a huge waste of his time and effort.  Then again, we live together and there's nothing I'd share with anyone else that I wouldn't share with him.

I can see where you might be upset by it, but you have to decide if your dynamic gives him that right.

I agree with Treasure. What and why hide things from a supposed Master.  If you give control of your life, then it is just that...control of one's life. Not half the time, not a quarter of the time, ALL the time.
Some don't mind the loss of privacy.  If it disturbs you, by all means put your foot down about it.

I was videotaped without permission by an ex. Since it was only on his property, the surveillance tapes were completely legal.
The same ex monitored my phone without permission - he paid a service to alert him of incoming texts and calls containing certain key words. They could only pick up messages from the public domain (so it was legal), which means they would have to be from friends with different mobile carriers - anything sent to me from someone with my service would never enter the public domain. It was all legal so I couldn't press charges, which was so frustrating. I was able to get a restraining order. Very, very creepy!!!
