there is no law that allows anyone to defend property with deadly force.  if you shot one of the protestors for burning your vehicle you would be arrested.

Actually...in Colorado there is.  It is sometimes referred to in a somewhat snarky manner by the bleeding hearts as the "Make My Day" law.   Tis one reason I live in Colorado.  [&:]

There is in Texas. Google "Castle Law."

Since I live in a state that also has that law...see my post above...I am going to answer this.

I am not one of those who believes in the idea of "even if it saves only one life, isn't it worth it?"  My answer to that is not only No but HELL No if it makes no economic or moral sense.

My property, such as my motorcycles or hot rods, is just that...mine.  I worked for them, I earned them, I bought them after I made sure all other obligations were met.  It is not the property of the scum trying to steal it and I'd be damned if I'd let him just take it while wringing my hands and relying on the police...ineffectual in most of these instances...to get it back.

To put it frankly...fuck that.

Ok folks, that's enough.  If you want to discuss gun laws, take it to one of the threads already discussing those topics.

Now the truth for the flame comes out. Figures. *rolls eyes* Bet every hater on this thread had some bad experience with a law enforcement officer and now pisses on them all. Although, at least this hater gave us the history of his reason, unlike many other cowards. I swear people, take some accountability for yourselves and own up to what you do...

I never said I hated police officers.  I just don't agree with some on here that shall remain nameless, that you are required to submit to their abuse.  I also don't go along with the notion forwarded by a few here that I should cooperate when a police officer is abusing his/her power.  I don't have to do that, I have rights.  You push me, and I'll push you back.  I don't give a damn who you are.  Police officers are no more special than any other citizen.  I don't sympathize with police officers' sob stories or excuses for their behavior.  It's a voluntary job, if you don't like the way the public views you, than quit.

Amen!

Walk in the cops shoes before you damn them.
Do a police ride along program. I did when I was 16, gave me a GREAT appreciation for them.

We already know Obama has ideas for Brown shirts of his own. He might settle for Blackwater instead.
First i'm hearing of it....Any sound proof...like not from a blog, or The Onion?  i would be intersted to see it.

Ask Obama yourself. He knows what his ideas are. Anyway this tactic has been done before. If it works once, why not again?
So no proof? Right? Is that what you're saying?  i have a problem with someone saying "we already know..." something, when in fact, we don't know.  As far as me asking Obama himself...not bloody likely, but a girl can dream![:D]

Punishing the stupid cop isn't going to bring the dead man back to life. I completely understand that people are so fucking fed up with the abuse of power of the police and other representatives of the state, that they would conduct a riot. It's sad, but authorities frequently ignore petitions and other forms of peaceful protest, and pay a lot of attention to violence. Gandhi's success was exceptional.

But rioting, looting, and destroying your own neighborhood will bring the corpse back?

bestbabync -> RE: Policeman Murders Citizen. (anyone surprised?) (1/8/2009 5:15:57 PM)

apparently throwing a public babyfit (cause most of the shit they are destroying is there own!)will raise the dead....go figure!

(had to clarify babyfit)

lronitulstahp -> RE: Policeman Murders Citizen. (anyone surprised?) (1/8/2009 5:22:12 PM)

i don't supposrt looting and destroying one's own neighborhood as a means of protest, but i understand the frustration that causes such a reaction.

i'm pretty sure dressing up like Indians and throwing crates of tea into the harbor wasn't the easiest way to grab King George's attention, either....but i understand how being taxed without fair and  equal representation might have pushed some former British subjects to such lengths...

bestbabync -> RE: Policeman Murders Citizen. (anyone surprised?) (1/8/2009 5:29:26 PM)

yes the Boston Tea Party was a great statement!  but to victimize your neighbor by destroying there only means of transportation to get to work to earn the damn mininum wage so the poor smuk can  buy baby milk is wrong!

lronitulstahp -> RE: Policeman Murders Citizen. (anyone surprised?) (1/8/2009 5:46:31 PM)

One man's tea party is another man's looting spree... Today, people feel the outcome was desirable for one, historically speaking. (though were you to ask the British crown at the time whether they were pleased with the outcome, not so sure it'd be all "thumbs up") There's a possibility that 400 years from now, someone might be commending the looters and rioters of today.

Change that we to an I. That inauguration is the last place you will want to be. It's going to be a nightmare with all those extra people.

[image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m21.gif[/image]i believe we give the system a chance to work before rioting.  if the officer is found guilty of committing the crime he shall be punished.  if this crime goes unpunished then we have a whole different scenario.

hahaha...if a jury of his peers convicts him ok...otherwise we'll destroy property and commit violence.

*That* sentiment is the exact reason every non felon man and woman should carry a firearm.

Obama has said we need a civil defence force equal in size to the current military. Or in other words, he doesn't trust the military to carry out his orders on US soil. If he did trust them, there would be no need for his "CDF". Personally, I prefer to trust the 18yr old with the M-16, real world combat experience and drill instructor instilled values than the false messiah.

i am totally against any protest that includes violence and destruction of property.

*NO* It's not. Nobody personally benefited from the tea thrown overboard. Or in other words, they didn't break into the local tv store and cart off a plasma tv. They didn't destroy the business people's mean of commerce either, they didn't burn the ships down. Or in other words, they didn't burn the tv store down after they looted it.

I'm disgusted anyone thinks these are morally equivalent.
