you are friggin nuts!  the police are citizens and taxpayers too!  there are bad cops, yes!  these bad cops, do not equal a police state!  if you see or witness a corrupt cop, file a complaint!  that is the right of every citizen.

I'm not nuts, I'm informed.  I bet you everything I own you haven't done your research on this topic and you're just firing off random insults based on your own uneducated opinion.

Besides, I never said these cops equal a police state.  I said we're living in a police state.

As for making complaints against the police, guess who investigates the complaints?  The police.  Guess what is almost always the outcome?  Nothing.  Not even when they taser someone to death right in front of you for being agitated and confused because they assumed he was being belligerent.

Evility -> RE: Policeman Murders Citizen. (anyone surprised?) (1/8/2009 2:45:42 AM)

This is the same logic that dictates that we remove guns from the possession of law abiding gun owners because one abusive husband shoots and kills his wife in a fit of rage. The same logic that would make us all pedestrians because one drunk driver hits and kills someone. Let's disarm all the policeman in America because of this one cop.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

NormalOutside -> RE: Policeman Murders Citizen. (anyone surprised?) (1/8/2009 2:48:25 AM)

@bestbabync Wow, that kind of childish internet posturing hasn't been popular since the mid to late nineties.  You really ARE oldschool!
Aside from that, not much to say, since your post didn't contain anything.

@E2Sweet I agree with your post 100%.

No it isn't, because in this case, there are hundreds of police shootings of unarmed citizens on youtube right now.  Murders caught on tape in the last couple years.  Our side of the argument is saying THAT is why continually giving the police more and more power and privilege is dangerous.  This, coupled with the rights of the people stripped and the powers of the government boosted in the last decade or two, has many people remembering the atrocities committed during times like ours for previous world superpowers.

I've argued with coppers, and I've been charged with disorderly conduct twice.  Both of those instances were with the same cop, who was a little, prick I went to high school with.  He was only about 5'6", and he had always had a Napoleon complex.  He fucked with me everytime he saw me out.  He was a weak, little man when we were growing up.  I told him so, everytime I encountered him.  He had the audacity to mess with me in a book store during his off-duty hours once.  I was with my girlfriend at the time, so I yelled out loudly, "Look man, she doesn't want to see you anymore...Leave us alone!"  I grabbed her arm, and we exited the store.  I had to bite my tongue to keep from laughing, as I left him there with this 'deer in the headlights' look.  [:D]  Needless to say, he and I weren't pals.

Once I plead, no contest to and paid the fine.  I had other things to do, and I really didn't want to mess with it.  The other one got dropped along with some other misdemeanor charges that were outright lies.  I did call him a cocksucker, but that doesn't rise to the level of disorderly conduct in state law.

The dumbass didn't show up to court, and they had to call him and get him out of bed to come down there.  [:D].  He was so pissed off when he got to court, I just sat there and smiled at him.  I was prepared that time, I had witnesses and I hired a lawyer.  The lawyer cost me more than the fines would have, but I wanted to embarrass his ass.  It's exactly what I did.  After the court case, my lawyer talked to the chief of police and indicated a civil suit would be filed if I experienced any harrassment afterwards.  Mysteriously, I stopped getting pulled over and screwed with.

You absolutely do not have to tolerate bullshit from police officers.  When you decide to stand up for yourself, you just have to play it smart.  You need witnesses, either actual persons or electronic recordings.

Yeah - GreedyTop is right.

Disrespect one of them, especially the wrong one, and see what they do to your poor sorry ass. Then try to resist and be the star of your own video... so long as you're lucky enough that someone nearby is brave enough and sneaky enough to capture the results on cell phone video.

Lucylastic -> RE: Policeman Murders Citizen. (anyone surprised?) (1/8/2009 4:22:34 AM)

just a thought, but why do you think you can trust the citizenry handling guns and being responsible when the
police  arent to be trusted??
Ive known good cops, Ive known bad cops, but I wouldnt want their job in a million years, do I trust them? about as much as I trust some of those on here to not blast the hell out of someone they "thought"  was a threat.
Yes I abhor police brutality and this one looks from the vid to be a definite bad cop. I dont have answers, but some of the answers Ive seen here are obviously not to be taken seriously.
My dad used to get asked if he was in the police force... My grandfather used to say, "he isnt qualified, his parents were married"..... my grandfather was a cop. He would be turning in his grave right about now.

Nope, one must roll over and take whatever abuse a cop(s) hands out.

And should certainly never complain either. You might get beat down or some`tin.

Can`t piss off the cops,it`s dangerous.

That question, with just a little bit of thought on your part, will easily answer itself.

First i'm hearing of it....Any sound proof...like not from a blog, or The Onion?  i would be intersted to see it.

Ask Obama yourself. He knows what his ideas are. Anyway this tactic has been done before. If it works once, why not again?

Sanity -> RE: Policeman Murders Citizen. (anyone surprised?) (1/8/2009 7:45:20 AM)

Being responsible enough to take care of oneself isn't some "mentality". That's the way things have always been up until very recently.

The only "mentality" (if there even is one) is the idea that some nanny state should come running to hold everyone's hand whenever anything goes wrong.

MissMorrigan -> RE: Policeman Murders Citizen. (anyone surprised?) (1/8/2009 7:57:20 AM)

A person can only ever take care of their own actions, they in no way can have full control over another's. There will always be someone faster, smarter, meaner and more desperate than yourself in any given situation. People can take care of themselves up to a point and the same cannot be said for the fail, infirm and underage who rely on the rest of society and its laws to protect them.

You don't know what the fuck you are talking about. You weren't there, little girl.

-Don't 'little girl' me. It's pet peeve.

You said a greaser got out of a car and threatened you. Big deal. Why didn't you just say a cop waved a knife at you...

-Owner59, we weren't saying that you should 'take abuse' although from the way it sounds, some of you might thing being pulleed over for going 80 in a school zone to be 'O NOES abusive'.

I drink with cops, I party with cops, and I don't pull a bullshit 'poor me' attitude around them. I have yet to be 'abused' although I have run into one or two with a gnarly attitude. Does it bother me? N, because they're people... I brush them off like I do everyone else with a poor attitude.

-As far as the 'police are minutes away...' line... it really doesn't make sense to me. Yes... the cops might not be holding your hand when you stumble your drunk ass down an alley and get mugged... and it might take them a while to get to you. No kidding.

Now the truth for the flame comes out. Figures. *rolls eyes* Bet every hater on this thread had some bad experience with a law enforcement officer and now pisses on them all. Although, at least this hater gave us the history of his reason, unlike many other cowards. I swear people, take some accountability for yourselves and own up to what you do...

Stay safe, play nice, & share your toys w/ others...
