How about having long lists of deal breakers?

YourhandMyAss -> RE: What are your biggest deal breakers? (1/8/2009 8:27:55 AM)

Bear I am not the one you were asking but since cars having a liscence and being able to drive is a biggy for me, also, I will answer you.

I don't drive, I never have had a license and with me personally I think I am doing society a favor, infact I think it'd be out right dangerous sometimes to put me in charge of a moving vehicle.

Since I don't drive it's important to me that THEY DO drive, since other wise two non drivers makes it a very complicated thing to get about town, yeah, sure there's buses and cabs, and bumming a ride, but I just simply have no desire to deal with those hassles,  especially when we want to go 2 or three hours into the city for kinky play, so he'd better have a license and his own car.

I just want to know what's wrong with not being licensed to drive and therefore not owning a car?

Rainfire -> RE: What are your biggest deal breakers? (1/8/2009 8:28:18 AM)

[sm=dunno.gif]  Smoking was a big "NO" for me but then I fell in love with Daddy before I knew He smoked. So with much thought and soul-searching, I figured I loved the man as He was, smoking and all. Thankfully, He quit in July but I would love Him no matter what.

(We've also learned how much the smoking affected me so he would have smoked outdoors if needed. In fact, friends now respectfully step out for a smoko, which I really appreciate!)

Deal breakers for me:
1- They are recently deceased (well, maybe not if the body is still warm).
2- They aren’t in the right age bracket.  Old or young enough to reproduce.
3- . . . and as a human if they can’t do all of the following; “change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently or die gallantly. Because specialization is for insects."

Thanks to Robert A. Heinlein for that list BTW.

*sigh

I'm not on your list.

beargonewild -> RE: What are your biggest deal breakers? (1/8/2009 8:33:14 AM)

YHMA, lol I was just asking posters in general, as many listed a man not having a car/license as a deal breaker! I've never had one for the sole reason that driving was never a high priority for me and I am not prepared to take on that type of added financial burden.

eta: the smoking part I understand and it's a topic I will not discuss  : )

Hell even I have never butchered a hog. But, I am always willing to take a stab at it. LOL

T1981 -> RE: What are your biggest deal breakers? (1/8/2009 9:02:10 AM)

I smoke up to a pack and a half a day, so I guess a deal breaker would be someone who couldn't handle that, though I very much understand why some people can't. And, since my husband nor my cats smoke, I do smoke outside. But if it was just for a play partner, I could probably put down the nicotine for a few hours.......

In all honesty, I have often wondered how it is that non-smokers can date us smokers. I love smoking, but if I were to quit, I think I'd find kissing a smoker kind of, well, gross.

How DO you folks do that, anyhow? We smokers love you for that, absolutely, but I do wonder....

Sounds like you are looking for a domme.[:D] And, yes have done all (well sailboat not ship, but it can't be all that different) except the (physically) dying part.  Have occasionally thought it might be worth switching for you.[:)] But  then my reality kicks in, and i realize you would likely have me mopping floors instead of doing all the fun stuff.

I also aside from the health issues of a smoker, wouldn't deal w/ith the waste of money I consider buying cigarettes to be.

My dad used to be a smoker, and yeah he said people who smoke smell way worse to him now as an x smoker, than they did before he ever smoked or dureing his smoking days.

Thing is, People who smoke generally still tend to smell like smoke, since it permeates EVERYTHING, specially if you smoke in doors.  And honestly more than the health risks, the biggest offense to me is the pure  horrendous stink of the smell of  it, stake cig smoke stink is also way worse than fresh almost. As I can attest to personally, since when ever Daddy takes his mom anywhere the car REEKS for weeks, cause she smokes tons of ciggies and then leaves them in the ash tray and he doesn't clean them out for quite sometime sometimes.

And the few times I am around my aunt, I can smell the smoke on her too, even if she hasn't smoked in a while, it's all over her clothing and  her hair. When I rode a cab to therapy and Kenny smoked, even though I had a bath just 2 hours earlier, I REEKED of his cigarettes just cause I was in the cab for 25 minutes while he puffed away.
I remember one time I went to go get my eyebrows and lip waxed and the lady had just come back from smoking and her hands smelled kinda nasty and I felt it'd be rude to say anything so I just put up with her  stinky hands in my face.

Oy Oy Luscious, a big hug from this absentee x

As for deal breakers, when I was on the hunt I had a set list of 'no can do's', which included:

Smokers
No Jobbers
Short men
Nose Pickers
People who were incapable of stringing a coherent sentence together, or failed to enunciate clearly enough for me to deal with them without the aide of an interpreter
Racists
Addicts of any description but especially alcohol dependence and substance abusers
People that chewed with their mouths open, making that vile smacking noise and letting all and sundry gain a visual of their masticated horror
People that were only interested in what I could do for them, afterall, it's supposed to be teamwork
People that do not like animals - I once gave a person a good kicking for pushing one of my cats harshly off the end of my bed while uttering "Get the fuck off"... Well, I got off on giving him a good kicking, then showing him the front door. I'm only 5'3 but I aimed that boot perfectly.

When I met Reality he didn't have a job, but was highly intelligent (has a genius IQ) and spoke beautifully. I'm glad to say that I relented on one of the deal breakers b/c we'll celebrate our third anniversary in May and he now has a fabulous career.

That's it exactly - all of this is very true. Which is why it bowls me over that non-smokers can date us!

CarrieO -> RE: What are your biggest deal breakers? (1/8/2009 11:07:35 AM)

Just a few select ones....there are more. This list seems to grow and change as I get older.[;)]

1- Lying and any kind of misrepresentation of themselves or their circumstances (lying about marital/living status)
2- No job/lack of income
3- Poor hygiene
4- Lack of common sense
5- Disrespectful of themselves and others (addiction falls under this category)
6- Lack of manners and social graces and being unwilling to learn
7- Self-centered and egotistical
8- No sense of humor
9- Drug or alcohol issues
10- Unwilling to grow personally/professionally/spiritually

Only one - I have no tolerance for a hypocrite; under any of its definitions.

'ya know like an ex-smoker who has smoking as a 'hard limit'?

Better yet - cowardly selective censorship.

I'm not on your list.

Me either.  I've never been much of a cook.  I can bake pretty good, but cooking's never been a major thing with me.
