ehlovindom -> RE: How did You decide on a Bdsm name~?? (2/13/2005 11:08:30 AM)

Being a proud Canuck with a warped (some would say lame) sense of humour, I thought I would write a simple and slang description of myself, loving (no g required), a dom, but instead of "a", use the wonderful Canadian expression known throughout the world, "eh"?

I have been asked though about why my name doesn't contain any capital letters to indicate top, bottom, sub, master etc. I figure that if capital letters are that important to a person, chances are we would not get along so those who take the time to read about me, are those I would want to spend my time getting to know, eh?

domtimothy46176 -> RE: How did You decide on a Bdsm name~?? (2/13/2005 7:33:18 PM)

Mine is what I consider practical. I'm dominant, my real name is Timothy and I live in the 46176 zip code. I figure putting it all together makes it easy for anyone who comes across me and I don't have to answer that "are you dom or sub" or "where are you from".

Well, I took up the sport of fencing (very fun and a great workout! Everyone should try it once, you'll get hooked) right about the same time I came into this lifestyle. I'm my Master's little pet (next to his adorable kitties), and I'm 19. Simple as that. [:D]

ProtagonistLily -> RE: How did You decide on a Bdsm name~?? (2/15/2005 5:45:14 AM)

What's in a name....

Like Thorns stated up at the top of this thread, Protagonist Lily is my online name only. I use a totally differant name in the actual scene, which then differs from my given name.

Protagonist:A leading or principal figure. The leader of a cause; a champion

I've always had an internal sense of justice as part of my over all character. I would like to say that I spent a long time thinking about this and decided after days of struggle and ponderance to go with Protagonist. This of course, would be a lie ~grin~. I mused for 30 seconds, the word popped into my head, and voila...we have the beginning of my handle.

Lily: Any of various plants of the genus Lilium, having variously colored, often trumpet-shaped flowers. Any of various similar or related plants, such as the day lily or the water lily. The flower of any of these plants

Yes, I was actually a florist once and yes I like flowers, but ProtagonistBuffaloSabresFan just didnt' sound right [8|]

So, although there is something self revealing about the Protagonist part, it's really just one of those things that popped into my head one day that made me go "Oh...yeah, that'll work." [:D]

littlebuttercup -> RE: How did You decide on a Bdsm name~?? (3/13/2005 8:27:08 AM)

well, buttercup is my puppy name from my Daddy. taken from the popular cartoon The Powerpuff Girls. the character Buttercup on that show is a four year old girl who fights crime and is somewhat grumpy which enhances her cuteness. she attempts to be tough and that is also very cute.

Daddy felt i emulated these qualities.

the little is because the nick buttercup is often already taken so i needed to add something to it.

FistyMcfist -> RE: How did You decide on a Bdsm name~?? (4/4/2005 1:12:10 AM)

Mine came from the first time I posted a BDSM profile. It started out "Hi, I'm looking for a nice girl to stick her hand up my ass!"
Then I found, that the people who found it funny could put up with the other silly shit I say.

Youtalkingtome -> RE: How did You decide on a Bdsm name~?? (4/4/2005 8:46:58 AM)

Long before the phrase you talking to me was used in a movie I used it when standing in line at a store in Florida.Another cashier opened a new line and My then wife now ex-wife and I were told by the cashier to move over into her line.About that time another couple came up and thought that the cashier was talking to them.So while we were in line the guy behind us starts talking and getting louder and louder.And I turned around and said to him,are youtalking to me?The cashier said we were first inline and the other couple stormed out of the store.I am always Dominant no matter what the situation is.Always have been and always will be.

siamsa24 -> RE: How did You decide on a Bdsm name~?? (4/4/2005 9:25:28 AM)

I have had my screen name for many years and it has nothing to do with BDSM. The word "siamsa" is Gaelic (a dead language that was spoken at one time by the Celts). There is no exact translation for it, but it roughly means "to have a good time with good friends and neighbors" and would be used to describe a large festival or celebration, generally involving feasting, dancing and just having fun outside.

I have gotten several nick-names in relationships though. My most recent is "crocodile bird" because I hang around and pick fuzzies and lint off of people's clothing (it has to do with my OCD) and "owl" because I make what has been described as "hooting and cooing noises" when I'm happy. I don't understand it entirely, but I take it all as compliments anyway[:D]

Siamsa does indeed mean entertainment and is usually linked to music, it can also mean pleasant diversion or amusement.
Gaelic is not quite dead yet, it is spoken as the first language in some parts of Ireland still and taught in schools. Scotland also have Gaelic speakers too.
The signature at end of my posts is in Gaelic with a transalation.

SInce you seem to be knoweldgable about these things, I'm gonna ask. What's the difference between Irish and Gaelic? I know they're 2 seperate languages, but I'm not sure how it works.

I'd been told that Gaelic is the older language and Irish arose from it and is more widely spoken, but I don't think that's correct. The only thing I know for sure is that they're 2 different languages and Irish isn't spoken in Scottland, while Gaelic is.

siamsa24 -> RE: How did You decide on a Bdsm name~?? (4/4/2005 12:20:07 PM)

Oh, thank you. All the research that I have found says what I had originally stated.
I stand corrected.

joecool -> RE: How did You decide on a Bdsm name~?? (4/4/2005 12:32:56 PM)

Joe Cool is one of Snoopy's alter-egos. He had a little section in one of the TV specials with his own song, and he was tring to show off and act cool, but he ended up messing up somehow. I remember the time he tried to ride around in a shopping cart in a parking lot, he was doing fine until the cart he was in hit the cart in front of it, and he ended up trapped inside.

Sorry, didnt mean to seem like I was having a go but I had noticed your nic on the boards and wondered if it was linked to Irish.
I am no expert perverseangelic but I think if want to be technical Irish would equal Gaeilge and the Scottish is Gaelic. I wouldnt have called them totally seperate languages but dialects of the one.

My apologies for hijacking the thread.

Not a problem, I like to learn new things. I only feel like a fool now because I have been giving incorrect information.
Thanks for setting me straight.

Masterspetal -> RE: How did You decide on a Bdsm name~?? (4/4/2005 3:51:59 PM)

my name was picked out for me by my Master. i was trying to figure out a handle for being online, and a comment i had made in my journal about how hard it is to come up with a handle because everyone has all the ones i had thought of. Master made an entry that it wasn't as hard as it seemed, as i was His petal. As soft as a rose petal.. His rose petal. Thus i have become, Master's petal.

MissMerlot -> RE: How did You decide on a Bdsm name~?? (4/11/2005 10:42:08 PM)

Mine was given to me by a former Master, and Mistress. They said I taste good with chocolate, like Merlot does with chocolate.

Padriag -> RE: How did You decide on a Bdsm name~?? (4/12/2005 8:55:51 AM)

Most places online I go by BardicHeart, which is also the domain name of my web site and a few other things. The story behind that goes something like this...

Late one night a group of artist friends and I were sitting around discussing, not surprisingly, art and sharing some music and poetry and other creative type stuff. Things had gone on like this for hours and it had gotten into the wee hours of the morning. It came around to me to read or quote some poetry as I'm known to do and after the last few rounds we'd gotten a little competitive. I've never been one to do things by halves and when I get competitive I usually go all out. So to bring down the house I began quoting, from memory, Edgar Allen Poe's poem the Raven complete with dramatic voices and a bit of acting out the parts. The made a pretty good impression and on we went with our bit of fun. Later, I was talking about my then nascent web site which I was going to move to a commercial web host and I needed to register a domain name but I couldn't think of anything that sounded suitable to me. A friend said it should be something poetic since I had the heart of a poet... and another friend suggest maybe something Irish since my Irish heritage is something near an dear to my heart. Then a third friend suggested very quietly... bardicheart... it almost went unnoticed. I came back to it cause I liked the sound of it. An Irish poet is a bard... more or less... so... poetic heart become bardic... heart... BardicHeart... and its stuck ever since. I've had that domainame registered for more than 5 years now and have prepaid it for quite a few more. The web site has grown and the domain name has become something of a nick name online.

I thought about using it here... but instead chose something simpler...

My given first name...

MasterofNeed -> RE: How did You decide on a Bdsm name~?? (4/28/2005 2:22:21 PM)

My particular name has a couple of meanings for Me. I met My submissive in 2000 when she still chatted online. Her nick at the time was needygirl. I collared her and the name became MasterofNeed. I am also a counselor by trade and a student of the human psyche and have often felt that I have a good grasp of the needs of others. When one is proficient in something they are often called 'master' as in a master craftsman. So once again the name reflects and understanding of Myself.
