I just bought tickets to see The Allman Brothers at the Beacon in NYC.  I've seen them there probably about five times in the past and another five times in Jersey venues and have spent about $30 per ticket.  Fast track to 2009 and it's now $500 for two floor seats at the Beacon.  Stupid me actually just paid that because if you've ever seen them play there then you know why.  When did it become so expensive to see certain bands?
Gregg better not drop dead...

they're all doing that now.  the money is out there and people are willing to pay it.  it's just not right to charge that much.  remember the days of parties in the park when the good bands would play and it didn't cost your firstborn to have a little fun?

I agree. Fleetwood Mac is playing in Ottawa in March and the tickets range from $89-$105 CDN. I love Fleetwood but not enough to pay that price!

I saw them in Cedar Rapids once... they were incredible. A little younger then but still, I'd pay that. Who's all in, is Stevie Nicks performing? I say GO, you won't regret it!

Yes Stevie is playing with them though I haven't heard who they got to replace Christine McVie.

Hahaha.  Poor Gregg has to sit the whole time.  He still plays his ass off.

And yeah...some bands are just worth it to see them at whatever cost.

PT  Barnum used to say, "there is a sucker born every minute"--as long as people  are willing pay to it, shills will demand it.

How does spending money for entertainment equate with being a sucker?

I don't know.  It's not like I got duped.  I knew what I was paying and had a choice.
I was just wondering when they got so expensive.

They keep asking outrages prices for the same performance delivered for less years ago--and people pay it---what would you call it?

As Gregg gets closer to death his stock value goes up.

They did have cheaper seats.  I've just gotten to a point in my life where I can afford better than last row.

Tis been a while since I have been to a concert and I feel that I am not missing much.  Radiowaves are still free and good to listen to when cleaning house or getting ready for a session...

Shahar, who paid over $300us for Crosby Stills Nash and Young 6 years ago.
