ORIGINAL: BbwCanaDomme A lot of concerts have become more advanced from a technical standpoint- bigger road crews, pyrotechnics, etc. Those things aren't cheap. Plus as artists get older, theres less of a chance of them doing another tour. I don't see the problem, if you don't want to pay the ticket prices, just don't go. However you were willing to pay the ticket prices, and I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time :) Me, I could give a flying fuck about pyrotechnics or super-duper laser shows. Now, back in the day, light shows were cool, but they were part of the experience; they weren't gratuitous. I've seen a lot of shows over the years, and, as far as I'm concerned, the best sound quality of any show I ever saw was the Dead's "Wall of Sound" put together by the Bear. I've exchanged e-mails not long ago with Bear; he lives in Australia now, and makes some very cool jewelry. He's also almost stone-cold deaf. 10 tabs of Purple Haze if you know who Bear is. Not long after that, everyone started miking their amps and sending the signal thru the PA. What a sucky sound. No spatoal localization. No dynamics. No individual tonal control. Just shitty sound. But, hey, for people who think iPods are hi-fidelity, it's good enough.
