I was thinking you could maybe you could blend broccoli into ground hamburger and make hamburgers,  However would the broccoli make the hamburger taste funny?

Made a banna strawberry smoothie this morning an got curious and put a small head of broccolie in there and now the smoothie is kind of bitter tasting and un appealing lol.

I'll still drink it though, it's not so gross it's un drinkable.

Also how could you make vegitable smoothies that are tasty? And what would you mix say, carrots with to make it creamy like you'd think a smoothy is.,

I'd try googling some recipes, but I've never seen a smoothie recipe with veggies in it.  Blech to the broccoli!!!  urgh...

I did see an ad today for V8 juices - they've come out with a new line that sounded really good.

I found one called All day carrots, it's carrots, and cucumbers  and nuts and seeds and and apples and  stuff, it sounds pretty good, really.

V8 never appealed to me, all though their new commercials where people are bopping others on the forhead and saying oculd of had a V8 are pretty amusing.

The new V8s are called V8 Fusion and they taste really good, like a fruit juice... and have tons of veggies if I remember correctly. They have a TON of sugar, though, which is why I stopped drinking it.

i thought you didn't cook?

Rather than "sneaking" the veggies in, why don't you look for a few recipies for a pot roast and stews?

aravain, that's the problem with store bought stuff, I'm trying to get healthy and keep the most popular forms of  sugar out of my life, in forms you can easily get it the most like juices and ice creams and cookies and shit. That's the biggest thing for me, avoiding things like that.

I stopped eating and drinking a bunch of stuff I used to like, because while it was supposed to be good for you, like fruit smoothies from the dairy isle, it had 300 400 calories and as much sugar if not more as some cans of  soda.

You can sneak all sorts of veggies into Meatloaf..from grated/minced carrots to mashed potatoes to act as filler. Spinach mixes nicely into Spaghetti sauce, along with onions, tomatoes, mushrooms. Broccoli is not bad on pizza..IF you use only the florets separated from the stems, it hard to tell them from oregano visually. One method I have used is mixing a small can of spinach or cream corn into cornbread mix before baking it...it changes the color a bit ( to green for spinach) but you don't get the taste or texture of the spinach.

As for juicing..carrot mixes well with most juices since it is sweet. Here is a site that should give you some starter recipes http://www.smoothieweb.com/category/vegetable-smoothies/

Have fun

One thought comes to mind....Just eat your vegetables (in the same tone as clean up your plate). Not sure what the sneaking is about.

Twice a year I do a green smoothie cleanse- which is just adding a handful of dark leafy greens to regular fruit smoothies. I personally can't taste them, but I like they taste to I guess I might but it doesn't bother me...

Carrot and orange is a good combination if you juice them, ditto to carrot and apple. Because carrots are so sweet they blend well with lots of fruits. Cucumber mixes very well with melons, just make sure you leave the skin on because it's the only part with any real vitamins.

Because broccoli is so sulfuric, you'll most likely taste it no matter what you mix it with.

I don't often cook, but I will cook up hamburger meat every now and then, I figure if you sneak them in by blending them until they mix right in, it can make the meat go farther, since the more you add to the meat the more people it will serve, plus well sometimes people are more apt to eat something if they don't realize they are eating it, plus convenience.

Anything that doesn't take a lot of time or effort, I will cook.

Stews are good my mom makes these huge pots of stew and mostly all the are are veggies and stew meat, maybe a little rice thrown in or something extra, but mostly veggies.

Those are the kinds of ideas I was looking for.

Why do the stems on broccoli, make it less yummy than if you use the florets alone?

I'm just not an outright veggie eater,  there's very few veggies I willingly will eat, carrots being one cucumbers being another and bell peppers being another.

adding anything to ground hamburger will change both taste and texture.. that said, enough seasoning and you might disguise it... meatloaf is a good idea... anything stuffed is a good idea... mushrooms with a meat stuffing?

for me... put avocado in anything (uncooked of course) and I'll eat it...

I hate mushrooms, I refuse to eat them. Have for all my life. Stuffed bell peppers now are a different story, and so would stuffed squash be a different story.

Changing the taste and texture, if it wasn't a gross and in edible change wouldn't be bad. It'd just be bad if it was so icky or repulsive you and every one else were not going to eat it lol.

I'll eat avocado, strait out of the peel. No need to put it with anything at all.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE raw avocado. Had a raw Avocado this morning in fact. Just cut it open and ate it while watching tv with DAddy.

if you've always refused to eat mushrooms, how do you know if you genuinely wouldn't like them?

I used to swear I hated mushrooms, and then one day ate a stuffed portabello mushroom, and now it's one of my all time favorite foods. They aren't like regular mushrooms, they're more like meat. If you cook them like a steak and serve them with lentils in a tomato sauce, they're amazing.

Just start trying a variety of different vegetables, and eventually you'll find recipes you like including ingredients you never thought you would eat.

The florets are milder in taste than then stems and will blend in with taste of the pizza. The stems are more fibrous and require longer cooking to be soft. They are also smaller than the stems and you are less likely to pick them out of the pizza.

Chop the vegetables up really small and saute, then add tomato sauce, seasonings and simmer. Result a great spaghetti sauce. I grate raw zucchini into meatloaf. Even the zucchini hating teen likes it better like that, less dense and more moist.

My mom used to force us to eat them as children, after childhood I should say, I refuse to eat them.

The mushrooms you get from the store, are gross and slimy, and I suppose it's not fair to paint all mushrooms with one paint brush, but any time I've eaten a mushroom indirectly, Ie it was in a stew and you didn't know till you had it in your mouth there was a mushroom, they've been slimy and gross..

I will admit though one time I got some mushrooms in a salad, cause the three bean salad at Mary's has them, And Daddy forgot to tell me there was mushrooms in the salad, so I could say no mushrooms when ordering,  and I did end up eating one or two on accident, cause I couldn't pick them all out, and they were not disgusting.
