Yes, for me it was all about 9 1/2 Weeks and Wild Orchid.  In his prime he oozed  with sexuality.
Did he really get so beat up in boxing that he had to completely change his looks?

...from the article linked to in the OP.....

"The Wrestler star revealed that he is baffled by the U.K.’’s approach to fundamentalists and revealed that he was taken aback by the freedom of speech allowed in the U.K."

....yup, a proud American......

Remember, back in the day, when Mickey Rourke was hot (before all of that plastic surgery)?

Don't forget about the steroids..
Seriously, remember when he was average size, then all the sudden he's as big as Sly, and his face is distorted...
Roids.....probably ate some brain cells too

my OP said nothing about him being a good or bad American.  as usual many have misread what i posted.  i was simply pointing out that MR was strong or brave to speak up amidst a sea of Pres. Bush haters!  most of Hollywood conservatives have decided to keep quiet so that they can keep working.  seems freedom of speech is only respected or allowed when you speak out as a supporter for the "right" side.

His sexiness factor just fell 50 points with this statement. I fell in love with him in "Wild Orchid", but lord does he look horrible now. Why do people destroy themselves with plastic surgery? M

I think his statements were very savy. He's desperately trying to re-start his career, so he stirs up controversy by throwing in with the GOP nazis, and the WOST. PRESIDENT. EVER. So he gets a few more minutes of being on everyone's radar screen, with cable pundits like Bill O the clown and the fat oxy-contin addict talking him up on their shows...

Ch-ching! He's a "hot property" again, offers for more movies come in (probably shit that will end up on USA or Sci Fi) and he can make his house payments.

Hah... posts like this one come to mind every time someone whines about Obama being called "Dear Leader" or Liberals being called (gasp) "Liberals" or some other trivial nonsense.

Really... come on. "nazis"?

i doubt that being conservative or buddying up to the GOP will get him more jobs. contrary to popular belief....sorry to disappoint ya!  if you ask any Hollywood actor (working or has been) if they are conservative they keep it to themselves so they can get work!  so MR's speaking out is brave!

That explains the following list: Andy Garcia, Gary Sinise, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, LL Cool J, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar, Dennis Miller, Denzel Washington, Robert Duvall, Catherine Bell, Danny Aiello, James Earl Jones, Ron Silver, Kelsey Grammer, Morgan Brittany, Ben Stein, Pat Boone, Kathy Ireland, Rick Schroeder and Bo Derek

list complements of the folks from Free Republic.

Regarding the face, I'd call it Rourke's Drift.
Reminiscent of another disaster.
As regards the career, he is pencilled in for Iron Man 2 and
Sin City 2 for which he may need no make up and The Expendables a typical mercenaries to the rescue actioner with Sly Stallone.
A project with greater opportunity to do some acting may be 13 which promises to be a half decent drama with Ray Liotta and Ray Winstone.

I don't think pat Boone made a movie this year.  See, to be nominated for a Golden Globe or an Oscar you actually have to have appeared in a film in the past year.  Some of the people listed have been nominated in the past.  Some have never delivered Oscar worthy performances.  I cannot believe that any of those who have never been nominated would say that it's because they are politically conservative.  Ridiculous.
