takes a strong man to stand up and speak like this!  this for sure is not too popular a stance in Hollywood!

I was a Republican...I'm not a Democrat...but I will say this...with fervor;

Ain't no one touched us since September 11, 2001.

LOTS of places have been hit since.

Not us.

And dick cheney hasn`t shot anyone in the face in a while. What of it?

Everyone knows that bin-laden is biding his time, having offspring and planing attacks.

Don`t the 4 thousand 2 hundred dead GI`s count as victims of terrorism?

I mean, I hear we`re fighting terrorists in Iraq.

And when will being a republican, no longer be novel?

So what?

Well, I do give the guy credit for going against the grain and voicing an opinion he knows is not going to be very popular in the ecosystem he inhabits. But my increased respect for his outspokenness is probably more than balanced out by the respect I lost for his values and his judgement.

But at the end of the day, the whole issue makes absolutely no difference in my life whatsoever. All I care about when i think of Mickey Rourke is that he is one hell of a talented actor who, when he gets his head and his heart into the right role, is also one hell of a good actor. Beyond that, I don't give a shit one way or the other. Any more than if George Bush started spouting off about what he thought of Mickey Rourke as an actor - it wouldn't change one thing about my opinion of Mickey Rourke as an actor, so why would Mickey Rourke's opinion of the way George Bush does his job change my opinion of the way George Bush does his job?

Personally,I never gave a rat`s ass what an actor`s politics were/are.

I giggle at conservatives obsessing over Hollywood actors(as well, Hugo Chavez).lol

It really dozen`t matter, eccept to the star-struck and people with to much free time.

This keeping score thing is a little silly too. Bean counters never score fairly anyway, let alone justify their existence.

And dosen`t MR getting an award kill the paranoid theory that Holly-cons don`t get work or acknowledgment for good work?

i do believe MR made the statement at the award ceremony when he was interviewed.

Owner...i am in accord with you on that!  i could give a rats ass what hollywood thinks about politics or social issues.  but like i have said, MR is a damn good actor and his statement is for sure not popular there in showbiz land!  he has been out of the movie scene for quite awhile and soon as he hits the big time stage again he spouts off his opinion knowing it could cause his resurrected career damage.
so i thought wow!...imho.

Speaking of conservative entertainers how about -

Ronald Reagan, previous President of the Screen Actor's Guild, then Gov. of California and 2 term US Pres

Arnold Schwarzenegger, serving a second term as Gov. of California

Charlton Heston, former President of the NRA

Fred Thompson from the Law & Order series recently ran for US Pres. on the Republican ticket

Does it count if the guy supposedly doesnt remember his speech?? according to a foxnews  writer
"Mickey, by the way, tells me he has no memory of his Golden Globes speech. He also has no idea what the producers of “Iron Man 2” have in store for him. He also has no memory of presenting at the Gotham Awards back in November with patricia clarkson. But it’s all good, and everyone loves him again."

( I got hooked by the Oj is a sociopath headline I admit it).
Now of course  heresay is just that, but meh to me its just more of the same drunk/stoned not ready for prime time rambling.  I wont be watching the movie because I dont like wrestling. but certainly not because of his politics. I couldnt give a damn.

You forgot Clint Eastwood! Now, his politics are just about as remote from mine as possible, and let's face it, he is a bit of a fascist, but I find Clint's directing amazing. And he was a babe, when he was young. I even think I like him as a person *blush*.

Are you a film director with a slight fascistic slant, though :-) ?

Remember, back in the day, when Mickey Rourke was hot (before all of that plastic surgery)?

Oh yes I do, very well.

John Wayne

Kevin Costner

The old guy who ran for POTUS who`s on Law and Order.

Quick story.

Growing up with braces,I had this coincidence of my orthodontist`s teacher as my shore house neighbor.

He was retired, probably passed away by now,we saw the Roddys every summer.

My mom and I were talking with them one day(on the beach) when Ronald Reagen`s name came up.

Dr. Roddy recalled that his sister was bit part actor in Hollywood at the time of the "blacklisting"-McCarthy bullshit hearings.

She was called to testify and given a list of names of people who`d been named as communists/plague carriers, at the hearing.

She was alone and saw a friend across the room,Ronald Reagan.

Reagen was part of McCarthy`s insanity and helped McCarthy and  Roy Cohn ,using the hearings to further his not so bright acting carrier.

She(Dr. Roddy`s sister) didn`t know any "communists" or much about politics and said this to Reagan(in private).

His reply according to the account was"just name a couple names already on the list and you can go home."
