exactly!

the superstars that ARE conservative do not make it public!  MR has had a big success recently with his movie "The Wrestler" and he made a supportive statement, whether you agree with it or not, about a very unpopular POTUS.   GAWD!  i was just saying.

Has it occurred to you that the reasons conservative stars aren't as successful as the others is simply because they tend to be less talented, on average?

LOL!! that is funny as hell!!!  no i believe the successful ones that ARE conservative just keep it private.  as a rule most conservatives are very private with their political views.  seems most find NON-conservatives not too tolerant.  (this point proven here on these threads many times!)

You think that their political beliefs are keeping them out of the awards?  That has a hell of a lot more to do with the quality of the script, director, etc.

Seems to me that Duvall, Washington, Jones, and Derek were up for awards in the past.  Grammer and Geller were best known for TV roles (and Geller was very popular on Buffy the Vampire Slayer).

That explains the following list: Andy Garcia, Gary Sinise, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chuck Norris, LL Cool J, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar, Dennis Miller, Denzel Washington, Robert Duvall, Catherine Bell, Danny Aiello, James Earl Jones, Ron Silver, Kelsey Grammer, Morgan Brittany, Ben Stein, Pat Boone, Kathy Ireland, Rick Schroeder and Bo Derek

list complements of the folks from Free Republic.

how many of those are up for a Golden Globe or an Oscar?

I can't believe we're calling Pat Boone a "star."

no their beliefs sometimes keep them from getting the roles that lead to the awards.  many of the stars you listed in your previous post have said just that!  they want to work, so they keep their mouths shut.

As someone who works in film, bullshit. The actors listed who don't get awards, don't get the roles because;
a) they aren't very talented
b) they're notoriously hard to work with.
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr don't get work because they appealed primarily towards the teen base and have aged past the point of being believable in the roles they used to play.
Dennis Miller is the unique combination of painfully unfunny and a complete asshole.
Gary Senise has a starring role on a very popular show, that isn't really award show material.
Bo Derek doesn't get work because she's over the age of 40, not because she's conservative.
Ben Stein never really had a film career.
Kelsey Grammar was type cast as Frasier. He'll never be able to get a role outside of that.
Jon Voight has a bad temper, and very little name recognition (other than being Angelina Jolie's dad, but everyone knows she doesn't talk to him so that doesn't help his case).
Mickey Rourke didn't get work for a long time because while on drugs, he was incredibly difficult to work with, and plastic surgery left him pretty much unrecognisable
I'll happily go through the rest of the list. No one cares if an actor is conservative as long as they're good to work with and believable in the role. I think this has more to do with conservatives being douchebags/bad actors than it does with them speaking out about their beliefs.

More on point: I saw The Wrestler tonight and Rourke is fantastic in it.

I was watching the Golden Globes last night and did not recognize Rourke at all!  He looked like a washed up drug dealer/pimp/gambler and landed on the Worst Dressed List for the night.  I am glad he is doing better than he did in the 90's but it is also very sad to view the results of the brain damage and facial reconstructive surgery after all the boxing matches.

"a repulsive getup, along with a dirty head of hair, a sequined scarf, and a truly tacky wallet chain."

http://omg.yahoo.com/photos/worst-dressed-at-the-golden-globes/2579#id=5

He gave a rambling, profanity filled acceptance speech -

"The Golden Globes are supposed to be loose, but so loose that it could spur FCC sanctions? The Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. can thank newly minted Globe winner Mickey Rourke for one of its most profane acceptance speeches in recent history -- highlighted by frequent use of the word "balls" as a compliment."

And Rourke has some very sad quotes listed on his bio page at IMDB -

"You get desensitized to pain and for three and a half years I developed these symptoms of Brain Damage - you forget what you did the night before. You have to get out when the doctors tell you to, otherwise you're on queer street for the rest of your life. One doctor said to me before a big fight, your neurological report doesn't look too good. I was like four fights away from a big, big fight and he said, 'Mickey, how much are they paying you? Look at your tests - you won't be able to count the money'."

"I always knew I'd accomplish something very special - like robbing a bank perhaps."

Hah, Vendeval...

Your post reminds me of a fable, by Aesop:

ONE hot summer’s day a Fox was strolling through an orchard till he came to a bunch of Grapes just ripening on a vine which had been trained over a lofty branch. “Just the things to quench my thirst,” quoth he. Drawing back a few paces, he took a run and a jump, and just missed the bunch. Turning round again with a One, Two, Three, he jumped up, but with no greater success. Again and again he tried after the tempting morsel, but at last had to give it up, and walked away with his nose in the air, saying: “I am sure they are sour.”

Do you genuinely think that people are envious of Mickey Rourke? Really, sincerely, Sanity?

I think that certain people clearly... despise the man, kitten - where, had he attacked the president instead, he would be the apple of their little eyes.

That is one plastic apple I wouldn't want around, regardless of politics. I am quite certain there are politically conservative entertainers I enjoy and would like as human beings.

I just simply find this Rourke fella rather sad and pathetic.

I just thought of a far right entertainer that I enjoy in spite of the fact that our politics are a Grand Canyon apart. Ted Nugent. He is passionate about his views but he is also intelligent and informed. Regardless of whether or not I agree with him, I can respect the integrity of the person.
