Whew !   Sure seeing a whole lots of sour grapes here .    Has it occurred to you that this country is made up of PEOPLE ?     US ?

This has nothing to do with being a Pollyanna , or not seeing things as they really are - but it might be far more helpful to maintain some hope, and send all kinds of positive energies in Obama's direction ,  and be willing to work towards the greater good of the country by doing what you can in your immediate lives, neighborhoods, towns, cities and states - to help get this country back on track .   In many cases we're gonna have to make our own hard decisions and sacrifices to stabilize our lives .

Our present problems were the result of many people's actions and bad decisions - the solutions will also require the efforts of many - on the "Main Street" level.  I feel Obama will be a capable leader - but he can't do it alone !    As for some of the questionable people immediately under him - it remains to be seen how their influences will be felt .

And like lots of folks ,   I am being directly effected by the economic chaos out  there .  But even with all that - most of us know where our next meals are coming from , and have a roof over us , and our little creature comforts - modest though they may be ( or not ) .   Try to mourn less for what you don't have , and appreciate what you do have .   Some gratitude can change how you see things .

Oh please.  That kumbayaa bull only works on people who can't really think for themselves.  Everyone should be questioning everything that the president, congress and the Supreme Court does.

Well I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm beside myself in anticipation

of what Michelle Obama will wear for the inauguration ball.

Rumor has it that it might be an up and coming fashion forward diaphragm.

But some say she could surprise everyone and go for the tried and true IUD.

I wonder about that too. The expectations are so high, and some of the problems so grave, that at least some disappointment seems inevitable.

Let's not forget how the expectations got where they are.  Anybody remember his speech in Berlin?  The seas will stop rising, and the planet will start to heal?  He set his own bar.

..... The biggest hurdle, minorities will find out that an African American president can do very little to help them financially....

Do you honestly think this was the primary reason why minorities (or anyone) voted for Obama?

I actually do believe that. It is no different than anyone else supporting someone for President. The labor unions ( one of which I am a member ) spent millions to get him elected. They also want something in return. I'm just saying, that's the way it has always been..There will be no change..

I am excited and I like Obama but I do think there is a bit of Idolatry going on and people will be disappointed when he is flawed as everyone and doesnt take care of their interests like they expected he would.

I still haven't figured out why people are in awe of Obama, sure he's better than Bush, or most likely will be, but come on, he already showed he is the same ole thing. He Voted for the bailout, now one will point out most of congress did, okay, but they are the status quo not change, and where did the bailout get us? NO WHERE. So, he has already one point against him and a big point against him in my book. I can't recall all the people he is appointing, but whenever I read about them they are all the same ole same ole Washington types. No change is coming, at least there is little indication in the actions he has already taken.

Anyway, I understand hope feels good, I understand people are tired of Bush, I understand he doesn't sound like a blubbering idiot, I understand he comes from a non-privileged background, all of that is fine, but so far the record he has in the run up to the elections and the picks he's made don't indicate to me that change is coming. Rather more of the same.

I hope I'm wrong, but I didn't want McCain or Obama.

So, I fully expect a large disappointment across the nation once Obama continues the same policies of more government and intervention laid down by the previous presidents.

More of the Same.

IMO. At least I won't be disappointed as I expect nothing of him at this point, the Bailout showed him for what he is. I won't forget that either, whether it be day 1 or if he gets elected again on the last day of his second term.

He's already in the hole in terms of credibility with me. I'm expecting higher taxes, more government, more bailouts for the mega corps, with a pittance of little tax rebates or the like thrown in for everyone else.

My fear is that they will turn on him..
It's human nature....not much to fear.  More of an expectation.  It's not a question of  "if", but "when?".

He has alot to prove, and he has a huge amount of problems and issues to deal with coming into all this.  i don't expect him to fix it all, i just expect his administration to be more honest, upfront, and  than the last administration.  i have been very  concerned with the damage done to civil liberties,  and privacy rights, and the basic freedoms that were being encroached upon.  These things can be worked on, and without any bailouts or burdens to the taxpayer. If he fails to address these pivotal issues, i will indeed be disappointed.

Knowing how our media is, I just keep it turned off. Most of my news I get from either reading, or NPR. Television journalists have become nothing more than Enquirer on tv.

My brother, a former Marine, tends to remember an attack much earlier than that. His squad happen to be out of the barracks at the time. These types of attacks have been going on for decades, and every President since Nixon bears some responsibility in everything that has led up till now, for prevention, and every President since Roosevelt for foreign policy applications that have contributed to the problem. Not to mention all of the other politicianc and "boo"acrats that could have done things along the way.
