MzMia -> Any one else Obamarized today with the Inauguration coverage? (1/20/2009 3:27:41 PM)

Okay, I have written about getting up around 6:30 to hunt Inauguration newspapers.

I am currently "Obamarized" tonight, I can't stop talking about or watching the coverage.
I have been taping it all day {since it is local we have all day all night live coverage}.

I have other things to do tonight, but I can't stop watching the coverage.
I have become Obamarized, I am over the top!
I am not even at the parade!

I can't wait for the Inaugural Balls {which I am taping}, the Obama's are scheduled to go to 10 balls!
When does it end?
Or is this only the beginning?
Can I use this as an excuse tomorrow at work, for not being prepared?

Okay, I realize many of us are in the "Honeymoon period".
President Obama is not perfect, he has become the President at a time when the U.S.A.
is at one of the most critical periods in it's young history.

I EXPECT President Obama to make many decisions I may not care for.
But guess what?
I still plan to adore, like and respect President Obama!

I hope many will stand behind his decisons.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
---> back to my Obama coverage and Obama watch.

Is anyone else Obamarized today?
Anyone else glad and proud to be an American?
Anyone else that has some hope, after YEARS of not having much hope?

Mz Mia, Im not proud to be an american, cos Im not one, but if i were I would be.
Im not Obamarized, but I have to say, I havent felt this much happiness since the Berlin Wall came down.
Whatever the future brings, I do think he is going to do the best job he can.
Naysayers meh, whatever, they have the freedom to be wrong as much as I do.

The pragmatic response from an 'Obamarized' economy:

quote:

Jan. 20 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks sank, sending the Dow Jones Industrial Average to its worst Inauguration Day decline, as speculation banks must raise more capital sent financial shares to an almost 14-year low.
The S&P 500 plunged 5.3 percent to 805.22. The S&P 500 Financials Index fell 17 percent to below its lowest closing level since March 1995 as concern European banks need more capital also weighed on the group. The Dow average slid 332.13 points to 7,949.09. Both the Dow and S&P 500 retreated to two- month lows.

Nope.  I was annoyed by the pretentious, feel good nonsense from the speakers.  Oh my holy God, that preacher......"yellow can be mellow, the Red man can get ahead man."  What the fuck is that supposed to mean?  People are acting like Christ just came off the cross.  People act like we just threw Hitler out of the White House.  I wish our President the best of luck.  But I am not swooning over him like a horny groupie.  It's fucking disgusting.

Merc, the stocks have been in the toilet for the past 5 months.
Please don't attempt to blame President Obama for a market that was already crashing.
I fully expect the market to get closer to 7000 before it really goes up.

America has been in the loo for almost 2 years, don't blame President Obama.
Sorry he does not have a magic wand.
Most of us realize things will get worse before they get better.

Slaveboy,
You are on a roll tonight, man.  I just laughed so hard I was choking.  You oughtta be a stand-up comedian.  I am happy and proud and full of hope today (but not quite "Obamarized").  I'm hopeful but realistic.  I missed the "yellow man, red man" speech as I was working but that does sound messed up.  Just lovin' your sense of humor tonight.  Are you drinking?[image]http://www.collarchat.com/upfiles/smiley/buddies.gif[/image]

Actually as usual sbfy, you are making me chuckle.
People are happy, let them fucking be happy!
I am happy, let me be happy.

Don't be a killjoy, people have a right to celebrate and be happy!
[:D]
I know you are glued to the t.v. as I am, you are a secret Obamarized person.
Come on out of the closet!
Tomorrow go buy an Obama T-shirt and matching hat.
You will feel better!

When watching the inaguration today, I im my girlfriend and said to here; "for some reason all these people reminded me of Woodstock". The love and caring was there and filled the air.

Changes will come slow and we need to understand that, but changes are coming. Perhaps the times, they are a changing. okay, taking my hippie beads off..nay will leave them on:)

You know, I don't exactly agree with the way this was put...but I totally agree with the sentiment.  I wish Obama as much luck as the next guy, since he is my President even if I didn't vote for him, but people were treating him more like a Messiah than a man.

I was proud to be an American long, long before today.

. God they were awesome.
I am proud to be an American and I am so happy and hopeful about our future ................all of us!

I thought today was lovely actually, I watched a fair bit of it online and had slightly damp eyes, not at the speeches but at the cheers of joy from the audience. I dunno what the future will bring who does but god isnt hope simply wonderful

*smiles*  No I'm not boozing it up tonight, Luci.  I'm just in one of my weird, cynical moods.  I have been watching bits and pieces of the inaugural coverage today.  I've been rolling my eyes a lot.  I understand that he's the first black President, and that's fabulous.  It is indeed a historic moment.  But jeez louise, the sappiness is just revolting.  The looks on people's faces in the crowd remind me of footage of cult members in Jonestown.  It's creepy.

Hmmmmm... the whole crowd was stoned and passing around joints???  Damn!  I guess I actually DID miss something by not turning on the TV, just like I've stringently avoided watching every inaguration since I was old enough to know what was on.  [8D]

What's the most significant difference between me and President Obama tonight? I only have two balls to attend.

Nope, not Obamarized at all. I am however, happy to be witnessing history in the making.
I will always have respect for the office of the President, but respect for the person in that office is earned with me. President Obama has not done anything politically to earn my * political*  respect yet. I hope he does.  I am hoping he has a successful Presidency.

He and I have differing ideological and political views. As an American, no I will not stand behind any decision he makes that is diametrically opposed to my core beliefs. That is why we have two major parties < altho I wish we could add one more>, disent is a positive, not a negative. Keeps the checks and balances in place.

I guess I can sum it up in football lingo. I am a Patriots fan, the Patriots lost to the Giants in the SB last year. I acknowledge the win,  I respect their place at the top, but I didn't become a Giants fan. I'm still a Libertarian, errrr I mean, Patriots fan.

MzMia....this is meant in love.  Let's just be happy to see a seemingly more honest, open, earnest, hopeful man become  President.  Skin color should never be considered as requisite for anyone's ability to perform a job.  Part of the vitriolic reaction to today's jubilation is brought about by the fact that Obama's race is touted all over the place...ad nauseum.   Let's be hopeful about the qualities that enable him to be ready for this job.  Should he fail or succeed....his race shouldn't have a thing to do with his job performance.

Tulip, I agree with you to a point.
President Barack Obama was elected because the American people felt he WAS the best man for the job.
He certainly was NOT elected because he was a Black man.
HOWEVER!!!!
{I also refuse to get sucked into another racial thread}
That really is NOT why I started this thread!

This is a thread about people that are happy, excited and filled with JOY!
Electing the first BLACK man to be President is a big deal for  many of us.
[:D]
It really is as simple as that, the best man for this important job, IS a Black man.
We are celebrating BOTH, and this is a VERY historic occasion because of that FACT.
This is history in the making, more than just electing the 44th President,
and it is a VERY BIG DEAL.

[sm=applause.gif]         Well said.

Actually one of the things I do respect about President Obama is the fact that he has never focused on his race. He ran his campaign on ideas, not color.
