if you were hyper you would not sit around all day. Sorry, but you yourself admit to extreme laziness. The two do not go hand in hand.

I personally am hyperactive, as are others i know. Hyperactivity is just that...the desire/need to be more active than the average person.

So I am going back to the policy we started about fast foods only once or twice  a month, and eating out no more than once or twice a month.

You can eat out without dire consequences if you learn to make healthy choices. Even most of the fast food joints are offering healthier menus now. I still wouldn't make a regular habit of it. You could get away with once a month or so...but I would seriously consider opting for things like "grilled" and "baked". Even salads can have a lot of hidden fat, sugars and sodium...especially if you are using their dressings. You can buy single serve healthier dressings and take them along when you know you are going to eat at one of those places. Better yet...a little lemon or lime juice on a salad is really yummy! Most of the chicken served in fast food places is injected with sodium. That is what is making you so thirsty. Your body is trying to get you to dilute and rid yourself of all of that salt. It's in panic mode.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: How do you like to detox after an overdose of sugar? (1/23/2009 9:58:03 AM)

LA, a lot of people who've been fat and un healthy for years, or hell even skinny and unhealthy, once they kick the bad health habbits, they realise most their life they've felt crappy, but crappy felt normal to them and they didn't know that wasn't a normal way to feel.

I tested pre diabetic years ago, and I don't want to shove that from pre to IS diabetic, so I am trying to get a control on my eating. IT's not sugar I like a lot, cause I don't regularly eat locks of cakes, or candies, or bakery goods,  like doughnuts or or pies,  or ice cream, or potato chips, or soda's

If it's in the house though I will tend to graze it somewhat, like dureing holidays when my dad bakes holiday cookies. My mom is a huge sugar junky, she'll eat a box of douhgnuts alone, have two for breakfast today, and two tomorrow, and she loves chips and dips and stuff,  so if dorito's are in the kitchen I want so bad to eat them.

I have personally gotten up and left the kitchen, because the desire to grab that sack while we ate dinner was so strong lol.

Another time I asked my dad, who was sitting in front of the storage unit where the chips should be, to put them back in there so I didn';t have to look at them.

So personally in my own space, that I can control, I choose not to have sweets and crap handy, and have asked my Daddy not to buy me stuff like that, Because while it was sweet and he wanted to treat me special, I really don't want candy as a treat.

Hell if  he wants to give me a special treat i said buy me more water so I don't run out, or do some kink with me:)

I DO however love fast food . And it's the fast food and poor lifestyle that is trying to drag me into the dark pit.

I adore sweets, love love lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeee, chocolate and pastries!!!

I know my weaknesses and how to control them......IF I really want to control them.

I keep ALL junkfood I have a weakness for out of the house, period. I do keep the best quality, most intense, dark chocolate in the house. One or two bites of that satisfies my sugar/chocolate craving better, and much more healthily than a pound bag of milk chocolate M&M's. Less calories and fat too!

Sugar OD's are something I am familiar with. If I do it, I will even notice it in my vision. There is no quick fix, or immediate body cure for that abuse. Just train yourself to not do it. I never used to realize how bad it was for me, I used to be a skinny little thing, it didn't cause me to gain weight, I loved it, why not right? Because it made me feel like shit, and it was bad for me. Even so, I didn't stop until not that long ago. Long after it had become a weight issue, and a realization that I might not always be in great health like I am now. Better to nip it before than try and fix health issues later.

I do NOT want diabetes, not ever. It is one of my main motivators to staying on the healthy track.

housesub4you -> RE: How do you like to detox after an overdose of sugar? (1/23/2009 10:00:05 AM)

20 wings and you're worried about sugar?  I agree with salt being more of an issue.

Well, I can't stand KFC (I like Churches, though just as unhealthy) and the breakdown of the meal...Dam!  and people wonder why we have a weight issue in this country.

It sounds like time is the only cure for what ails you, and more water.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: How do you like to detox after an overdose of sugar? (1/23/2009 10:03:39 AM)

Oooh trust me Holly, you don't see me, when I am not parked here, which is admittedly to often lol. I drive people in my life nuts with my energy. Get me off the computer and around friends and in social situations I am just  going going going going,  I am like the energizer bunny I've been told lol.

So maybe it's situationally hyper then. But then I define hyper activity to me, to a heightend need to be active, it's like you're being driven, and you can't just slow down and you're figurativly speaking, running circles around every one else, cause your mind and body and mouth are going thousands of miles a minute*

I am also diagnosed with manic depression, but I range more towards mania, than depression. Wind me up, or excite me  let me go and I'm like a wind up toy with out an off switch lol.

Talking and thinking are not considered "being active" in ways that will do your body a bit of good physically. One thing that helped me that you might consider....

I once read an article that basically said that bad habits that are not broken by the age of 30 are over 85%  more likely to be LIFELONG bad habits. You don't have much time left to set the course you say you want...

purepleasure -> RE: How do you like to detox after an overdose of sugar? (1/23/2009 10:20:46 AM)

Whether it's an excessive amount of salt/sodium or sugar/carbohydrates that someone may have indulged in, an increase in a water - PLAIN water- is probably the healthiest way to flush your system.

But, if someone were to limit (not necessarily eliminate) the consumption of certain foods or supplements in the first place, is actually the healthiest option of all.

housesub4you -> RE: How do you like to detox after an overdose of sugar? (1/23/2009 10:25:41 AM)

Try jumping to conclusions as an exercise!  Seems to work for alot of people on this site.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: How do you like to detox after an overdose of sugar? (1/23/2009 10:31:33 AM)

mist, no, they're not. But i would say it's a form of hyper activity to be so wound up you can't stop talking or moving or your mind won't stop running a thousand miles an hour, even though you personally are tired and want to stop talking and thinking, and you would LOVE to be quiet and be still, and just be,  but it's like you're compelled to and can't stop lol.

Or again maybe it's just the mania , and not hyper activity lol.

LOL being to lazy to clean house, or cook, or eat right, does not equate to being to lazy  in social situations.

You can ask Daddy, not that you would or you care to, but  he has a hell of a time keeping track of me when we go out to social stuff, cause i am here, there, yonder,  hither, going to see this, going to see that, finding this person, finding that person. One time I went to go to the bathroom and didn't come back for more than an hour, cause I was being quite the little butterfly and flitting from here to there mingling and walking around.

whoa there...her comment was in response to a post giving the nutritional content what you ate.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: How do you like to detox after an overdose of sugar? (1/23/2009 10:44:28 AM)

Holly, she also freely admits she thinks I am an idiot and will take pot shots at me any chance she gets.

Which is why I took her comment the way I did, I took it as a reference to an earlier private comment that she thinks I am an idiot and will take pot shots at me all she likes, regardless of my request for her to leave me alone.

And if I don't like it shut up and stop posting stuff she thinks is stupid.

So you're saying that being social at a social gathering equates to exercise?

I'm not big on exercising, I would think of myself as lazy in regards to excercising (going to the gym, riding a stationary bike) unless running after the Ice Cream truck after it passed my house is a form of excerise.

I am much more active in he summer, biking, skiing, hiking and other activities, but I would not consider going to a social event and walking around talking to people as being some type of healthy workout.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: How do you like to detox after an overdose of sugar? (1/23/2009 10:54:17 AM)

No. I'm not saying it equates to exercise,  I am saying, that just because I am lazy at home and am to lazy to cook and clean and do that sort of stuff , doesn't mean I am lazy in social situations, and can not be hyper in social situations.

all though socializing it can equate to exercise, depending on how you're socializing.

If you're walking all over the place talking with them, yeah you're exercising, walking is exercise,  IF you're on say the gym equipment, peddling on the cycle for an hour, while you socialize, yeah it's exercise.

If you have to go up and down 2 flights of stairs, to go find the friend you're wanting to socialize with* in some cases cause the elevator doesn't go up that way, it's stairs only* Yeah that's exercising.

Yup I exercise when I go get ice cream from the fridge, I have to walk all the way there  [8D]

Sorry that was actually a joke. YHMA I just think you know what it is that you are doing wrong eating 20 of them things is not going to be good for anyone, you said that you have pre-diabeties its not about will power or anything it is about stopping an illness that is absolutly horrific. Its about looking after yourself, actually doing it and not just talking about it. You can start threads like this and then try to justify it to yourself but at the end of the day no matter how hyper you are in social situations it wont work off the crap in 20 of those things. You mentioned moderation that isnt moderation, that isnt restraint and its bound to be bad for you. Its logical. You can flush your system but whats it matter if you binge like that? You will be unhealthy probably have bad hair and skin not to mention stomach problems etc. But its your life.

YHMA, you've said it yourself on one of your own threads that "but I could be wrong, I have seen snarky ness before where there was none lol.".  This is such a case in point, Potty was just agreeing with the nutritional information posted by a previous poster. The point being made, that due to the unhealthy amount of food and what was it, i.e. the HIGH amount of sodium, that was consumed, it was obvious why you were so thirsty.

Are you perhaps cycling up right now and the perceptions might be a little off?

housesub4you -> RE: How do you like to detox after an overdose of sugar? (1/23/2009 11:02:18 AM)

Well I'll agree walking can be excerise, however it is walking at an increased speed, so your heart rate increases and you keep up the increased heart rate for at least ten minutes 3 times a day.

I have stairs in my home (15 steps) and I go up and down them about 25-30 times a day (i have a 1 yr old) but if I go up them in a slow pace I don't consider that a workout.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: How do you like to detox after an overdose of sugar? (1/23/2009 11:12:13 AM)

colouredin, IT was a pretty funny joke, we used to joke when we were kids, we watch what we eat, We watch it come from our plate to our fork and from there watch it go into our mouth.

Or, the famous, we're on a seafood diet, we see food, we eat it.

I'm not trying to justify anything by saying I am situation ally hyper. I'm just saying, and I will say a gain because I am lazy at home DOESN'T mean I CAN'T BE hyper in social situations. Which is basically, what Holly said.

Since god knows hyperactivity of the mind and the mouth, has nothing to do with the belly lol.

How is mentioning that we won't eat out, not restraint, or that I leave the kitchen or put the food away, not restraint. I'm not eating the stuff, isn't  not eating the food and staying away from the food restraint?

I mean sure, I guess since you're avoiding it all together, you're not showing restraint because you're not dealing with it, just ignoreing the foods. But come on it IS in some form restraint not to buy it and keep it around, or to walk away from the kitchen since it's there taunting you.
