I used to teach self esteem classes to city workers in New Orleans, one of the things I taught them is when men look in the mirror they see three things right with themselves, when women look in the mirror they seen three things wrong with them selves, ( 6 if they feel pressure)

The problem today is in the free world society has failed to look and see natural beauty, it isn't accepted because it isn't cool, hip sexy--its set a standard of falseness--if we get "there" we will be happy, if you look like "that" I will always love you, if you had "this" or that" you'd have me.

I stopped wearing basecoat when I hit 40, having a less than one year old, who had time?

I stopped wearing eye shadow when I was 50, because My eyes got bluer and the dust caused problems with my contacts, lol.

Last fall I stopped getting artificial nails done, cost and it was too hard with the horses, well I survived and it is what it is.

I am 57, not hwp any longer, I have what SOME of My friends call natural beauty--I am not out of a magazine, I am not artificial, I am Me--and I am alone ( well I hope not for long), because Dominas have to hwp, good looking, big boobed, etc etc etc.

But I am dedicated, smart, witty, accomplished, I can drop anyone with a look from these blue eyes, I am not hit on, stared at, oggled or even chatted with most of the time, because I am what I am but I am also not miserable, fighting to be what I am not. I am confident, comfortable and well--trying and at times failing to believe that natural beauty is lasting.

I doubt I'll ever be able to afford plastic surgery.  Too, after all those tv programs showing peoples' recovery after having the surgery, I can't say I'm in any hurry to put myself through that [sm=whoa.gif]

As for make up, I wear it because I want to.  It's sort of a side effect of having been teased my whole life about a birth mark on one of my cheeks, as well as a couple of other facial flaws.  Do I believe that wearing it will make people "like" me?  No, but it does give me a bit more confidence to go out and face the world.  Like Cat, I've given up wearing certain things, like mascara and eyeliner.  My Dad used to say that make up should only be used to enhance natural beauty, and that makes sense to me.

I am so thankful that I got my mum's fabulous genes.... she is 70 and doesn't have a line on her face!!!!  I think having dark skin as well makes it easier to look ok without makeup on so I generally go to work and most other places without makeup, maybe a bit of lipstick and eyeliner if I feel I need a pick me up.

When going out at night I will do the whole bright red lipstick and loads of eyeliner/mascara and I will blow dry my hair.

If you all could see the glory that is my natural beauty this morning..........you would be thanking the gods, goddesses, and anything/one else you could wrap your mind around for the wonder that is cosmetics.

Everyday, I worship at the altar of Chanel.

thesugarplum -> RE: Natural beauty and why we hide it (1/28/2009 4:49:25 AM)

I'm not a big fan of make up. Even though I have large breasts, I really wouldn't mind a breast job to help "perk" them back up. I'm all for fake boobies, I love em. As long as theyre naturally looking. Not loaded and ready to shoot.

kittinSol -> RE: Natural beauty and why we hide it (1/28/2009 4:53:19 AM)

Brrrr... I had a rather large growth taken out of my breast when I was twenty; turned out to be benign, but the whole thing was so unpleasant, I can't imagine having a scalpel near there again just for the fun of it. *gag*

lusciouslips19 -> RE: Natural beauty and why we hide it (1/28/2009 5:29:41 AM)

I believe after an age natural beauty takes hard work! Gone are the days of no make and flouncy bouncy peasants skirts and birkenstocks. SOnt laugh. Your lushy really did dress like that. But what I realized is these things age you as you get older, so know ugly flats and no more clothes without shape. When you are older style is what you have, to make the most of what you have and to deemphasize the things you don't want noticed.

However to much make up is the worse. Too much gathers into the cracks and thats not good. Thats why I put eye make up on my top lid but not the bottom where it just gathers into fine lines. My routine is liquid makeup, eyeliner, mascara, bronzer andthats about it. I'll throw on eye makeup and eyebrow pencil for a night out. Of course no face is complete without a nice lipstick to brighten very thing!

You hit the nail on the head, as far as I'm concerned; my natural morning look is an intimate one. It's like nakedness, not something I want to share with everyone that meets me.

A woman upon awakening is just as sexy as the freshly fucked look. Then again, the completely natural/no make up look is sometimes hot an appropriate as is the made up for the occasion look. You women are blessed, and a blessing, to be able to change your "look" to suit your moods. We men have no such option unless it's when going to a costume party, a kink function or in the dungeon. The only look I don't care for is overly made up ( oops, even that is hot, on occasion )...so, I will amend that to say that the only look I don't care for is the surgically altered one.

Well i for one will never be leaving the house without straightening my hair again. My test did not go down well. Sir made fun of my hair, mainly because he knew i was paranoid about it i think.
Then this morning i looked like the wild women of borneo, couldn't see for my hair being in my face. Glad i had taken a hat to come home in [8|]

Up till just 10 years ago, my complexion was such that the most I ever wore was a bit of foundation, blush and eye make up.

however sometime after 45 my dad bequethed his age spots, looks like freckles, comes on with sun exposure, to me. So now no make up covers them. So there is no point in getting bent. This is me.  Looks cute on a Chinese woman ya gotta know.

After spending a few years not being able to walk without immense pain, the fact that I cannot straighten up quickly or run ( reason for keeping the slaves hobbled :)), I am happy to be walking.

Shoots, at 55 ( in a few days), 95% of the time it is what you see is totally me. No make up,  short salt and pepper hair and what ever is nice to wear as long as its comfortable. Not that I look like an escapee of the rag bag ( have a wrinkled clothes phobia), but my attitude is mostly if you dont like what I look like, then dont look. And if a fella thinks that my dominance is in how well I resemble what is the current standard of beautiful, then he is welcome to continue looking.

Now I must admit that I do have a metal fetish that translates into a love of jewelry, it doesnt bother me to go without make up, but I feel undressed without at least one piece of jewelry :).
