I would  use oregano, cumin, fennel and garlic powder with salt and pepper, diced onions and diced bell peppers. Mix all the above and some ground breakfast sausage in your ground beef and brown until it starts to carmelize. Drain the fat. Then add in your cooked pasta and more of the above seasonings. Add brown gravy mix or mushroom soup on top

Good ideas all, LunaVenus.  I season everything I make, but I get the impression that Yourhandmyass isn't fond of cooking.  For novice or folks that cook once in awhile, I suggest three seasonings.  Invest in a pepper grinder (so much better than regular packaged 2 blend pepper), salt (I'd say sea salt, but I think it's overrated frankly), and Mrs. Dash.  Mrs. Dash is great for seasoning if you don't know how to cook well.
I used to think the same about sea salt. I would scoff and say, "it's all in yer heads!"

But then, a few months ago, I found some Old Thomson sea salt I had back in the pantry when I was cleaning my kitchen (still cleaning - deep cleaning, pulling dust out of the cabinet panel/stile joints and such) and tasted it.

Hmmm! says I. Tastes kinda sweet! So I tasted it next to Morton's, rinsing with water between tastes.  There WAS a difference. I'm told it's because of the CaCl2, theory is it falls on a different place on the tongue.  Maybe, maybe not. Could be a "placebo effect", too. I just know I perceive a difference.

Now I'll use the Thomson's for delicate cooking, the Morton's for a pot of beans or the like (and the iodine), and Himalayan sea salt for salads and fresh stuff. The Himalayan is cool; some of the crystals are pinkish, like rose quartz.

Makes an ok cut for Bolivian Marching Powder, in a pinch, too. The pink crystals and all, yanno. Does burn some, but, some peeps like dat.

Things don't have to be kinky to be talked about on collarme.com And if you think things should be kinky to be mentioned here, and that nothing non kinky belongs here start your own group with your own rules, and then run it the way you want.

On the other hand, it can be kinky, I guess depending on what you're going to do with it after you cook it lol. Maybe someone plans to stuff their subs pussy with it lol.

Uh...pretty sure she was kidding. And the last statement of your post is beyond horrifying and awful and I sincerely hope no one intends to do it. Ugh.

I think I am one of the few people that cant stand salt.  Probably why I hate prepared food.  I find that most just overwhelm me.
Just the thought of HB gives me the ickies.
I will not eat chips for instance unless its no salt or low salt
I love nuts but buy them in produce so its salt free.
There is very little food I do prepare where I use salt.  My sister is a salt fiend so always has to add after.
Fast food, is only considered when a rare craving comes or I am traveling and cant find a resturant.
If a resturant over salts food, I send it back or try and remember to tell the waiter to hold the salt.
To me salt ruins the flavor of food instead of enhancing it.
There are a few things that just have to have salt like a pot of beans or cooking potatoes..but I use it sparingly and prefer sea salt as it seem to have a milder taste.

To me pepper is my salt. Spices are indeed the spice of life and never made a dull meal.
I like hot as in flavor not heat, perhaps growing up in Texas is one reason.

Most of the things I eat are fresh then cooked or snack wise raw with fruits and veggies.
I avoid anything canned, if I cant get fresh I will get frozen.

Its not because I try and eat heathy I was just raised to eat healthy which thankfully passed on to my daughter who also prefers fresh so I know the wee ones are being raised on a healthy diet.

My dislike of salts keep me from using boxed meals.

But it makes for a healthier me who rarely gets sick, so I must be doing something right.

I want to make it from scratch , and I like the nacho cheese stuff and other flavors, but when I've looked online, the recipe's all have stuff in it I don't want, that wouldn't be authentic to hamburger helper, like tomato's, and garlic.

This is so easy.....

Scratch is nothing more than individual ingredients...without a brand name.

Simple enough:

Buy some Hamburger Helper....open the box....pour the ingredients into a bowl....throw box away so it can't be found.....leave the building for 20 minutes.....

Drive back to the house....see the bowl full of..."ingredients"......cook some hamburger, drain....boil noodles till soft....mix with "ingredients" and 1/2 cup water....

Scratch.

just keep in mind if you want to lower your salt intake avoid the bullion cubes...they are loaded with salt substitute recipes that call for it with low sodium broths and reduce the liquid portions.

if you want home prepared meals with low preparation fuss  ---- then google 10 minute meals ... most will have less that 10 minute prep times  though the actually cooking time may be longer

if you don't like peeling potatoes  the buy baby new potatoes for stews  ,, just need to wash a 1/4 them  to cook.

or for easy baked-- new potatoes pierced with a fork or slit across the top with a knife and popped in the microwave for a few minutes till cooked thru ...you can test with a fork to see if done

fast fried steaks or schnitzel  --takes around 5 minutes about the same time as microwaved potatoes  along with prepared salad  you can have a meal ready and on the table  in less than 10 minutes.

And one of your best investments is a crock pot(slow cooker) you can make soups and stews  with out having to sit and watch, many people use  by preparing the ingredients the night before.. in the morning they pull the crock out of the fridge,  plug the unit in .... go off to work and when they get home they have a finished hot meal waiting for them. you can even make lasagna in a cock pot... when I make I don't bother with layering  as  it does not change the flavor  just mix all together  and use bow tie noodles or even macaroni instead in lasagna noodles

and here is a whole slew of crock pot recipes http://southernfood.about.com/library/crock/blcpidx.htm

Please refer to my last post in "Melting Cheese" thread. Except for Niki, it will do her no good without the secret decoder ring :-)
