Yeah, that was my dad. Now, my grandfather was always muttering about having rags tied around his bare feet or something........

Tropical birds in winter, no wonder it's dead.

It gets so cold here it kills the sparrows.

I am telling you it had me literally ROFL the first FIVE times I listened to it. If I had FTP I would make it available now, but I'm sure you can find it somewhere.

I totally agree...I went to my placement today...several times I heard myself saying "that's ridicioulus/pathetic". In Germany we were used to have plenty snow before the climate change started and since then we have some years with lots of snow and some years with less...eg 2002 I stood knee deep in snow where I was living in germany but was there any school closed, any public transport not running, etc.? NO!!!!!!! During the night one train was stood in the middle of nowhere as it was stuck but despite that we had no problems at all and here they make a problem out of that???????

My manager didn't come to work, my off-site supervisor didn't come to work... WTF!!!

During my lunch break I still decided to post my stuff which I sold on ebay and amazon and guess what...a big post office in the middle of the city was closed!!!!! in addition to plenty shops being closed, I just could only laugh about such stupidness in this nanny state where obviously adults can't cope when there is a little obstacle in its way...as they are so used to being told what to do and what to attend...

My walk to placement takes me about 40 minutes, that was my worst walk ever today (and as a teenager I walked sometimes a pretty long way to a friend who was living uphill near the forest where there was a heck of a lot of snow) because as mentioned already in germany we also have the snowgritters out during the night to ensure the streets are ok to drive on and additionally we are enforced by law to shovel the snow at the footpath in front of our house/flat in the early morning hours and if necessary to place salt or sand onto it to avoid that someone slips and gets hurt...if you don't do it and someone gets injured you are legally in charge and can end up paying for it and over here??? all this bloody long way I kept slightly slipping or drowning in deep snow with my work suit trousers...that is so last century as this is managed here because at home I know for sure that I would have not found one path of a footpath in a bad condition as it was here today all way long.

I mentioned to one of the residents about the law we have in germany in regards to the footpath and she said it would be the other way around here, kind of if you do clean your footpath and someone slips out on it then you are in charge, whereas when you don't do anything then you can't have pressed charges against you if someone falls...I don't know if that is true, but if it is then it just confirms the opinion I already have which is why I can't wait to relocate out of here latest when my studies are finished

If this amount of snow would cause closing schools in germany...wow...then we would have had a hell of a lot time off at home...

But I just can't believe what a "big problem" this was for UK particular as it was to read online that a big winter is still coming up here...so why don't they get prepared then for it when it was mentioned since quite a few days

I grew up near atlanta and the entire area is crippled by as little as a half inch of snow. Kind of funny now that I live in chicago and nothing but really absurd cold, well below 0 F, ever shuts down anything in the city.
