Status: offline 		Only a few made here I believe, most of them would be on a philosophy forum I post on. Just because something is not said, does not mean it is agreed with. Maybe I should instead fill several pages with your posts where you rage against an issue, but then make exception for it when done by those of your party.

So what do you think of the vetting process that the President is using? Think it is sufficient enough, or needs some improvement?

Excuse me, but these "issues" as you call them DO have a great deal to do with party.  These are people chosen by President Obama to represent HIS administration.  If they were just your normal run of the mill tax cheats than you might have a point.  It makes some of us wonder about the creditablilty of this most liberal man in the Senate who is now chosing "the best among us" to lead us into "change"....and exactly what this "change" is going to look like. 


There have been some nominations made by other Presidents, regardless of political party, that have also had questionable to proveable misconduct or crimes in their backgrounds. It is politics as usual, and that is the point. It has nothing to do with political party.

Those same types of excuses/reasons have been used by past Presidents as well. There should be outrage every time, and I am not giving this President a free pass on this, but no President should be given a free pass on this.

Political cheerleading, such as you are doing, does not solve anything. I am not sure what you mean be belittle, have you actually looked up the definition of that word?

...clearly it has a major flaw. Specifically that part of the questionaire dealing with taxes. However, i'd point out that the part of the vetting process that has failed was the early part. The later part is working, as otherwise we'd be finding out about these things months or years later.

Status: offline 		Wrong. Having more money means you can afford a good tax consultant that may assist you in lowering your taxable income, but they still pay a hefty amount. Ever heard of AMT?

Status: offline 		You are claiming I am bias? For what? I am bias against politicians, and do not trust any of them. Replace tax issues with questionable investments, and you may see what I am talking about.

Cheany nominates himself to the second highest office in the land...

Bush has his minions fire Supreme Court justices in several key states in order to replace them with republican sycophants...

Bush appoints a horse show organizer as the head of FEMA. (How'd that one work out, BTW?)

Fully half of his cabinet apointments were people who either gave to his campaign, or whom his family owed political/financial favors to. (I'm surprised we didn't end up with a Saudi Secretary of the Interior)

He tried to nominate Harriet Meyers to the Supreme Court, knowing that she'd be a "good German" to all the power abuses the Bush administration had been pulling against the US Constitution....

Eight years of this malignant little weasel fucking with the US people, we finally oust his sorry ass... and you bitch about some guy who didn't pay taxes on a car and driver whom he thought was being supplied as a gift... (yeah, it sounds a little weak to me too, but compare that to a prime bit of malfesence like "Speedy Gonzoles" trying to get Ashcroft to sign the papers to allow unrestricted wiretapping of Americans while that A.G. was still under the influence of general anesthetics for an operation...)

Time out - I don't have a source reference because I only heard it as a radio news clip, but President Obama admitted that nominating Daschle and standing behind Daschle's nomination was a "mistake"; even though good old '59 may still not think it was. 

That is the first positive thing I've heard coming out the White House is quite some time.

Good for you Mr. President! (Swear on beth's life - none of that was sarcasm!)

Anyone who has the confidence to point a finger at himself and take the blame for making a mistake gets kudos from me. It's kinda refreshing actually.

Who's being considered? Only this was offered when I was trying to include a written reference source for quoting the President:

Well, you can look up for yourself the many functions the NOAA has, but one is charting and mapping for aviation and marine uses.

While I know you don't believe government serves any useful function, this is a very necessary, but cost intensive function that would not be profitable for a private company to undertake, without making the product exorbitantly expensive.

And there are private companies that buy their data from the NOAA and compete with them by supplying a superior version of the product, but at a much higher cost.

Not to mention that much of the weather data you hear on your local news comes from this agency.

Including those tornado and hurricane warnings.
