Gosh, your right!  I missed the story about the six terrorists from Denmark who threw herring at tourists, the five Germans in Munich
who replaced themselves with the rotating statues in the square and went round and round on the hour...or those fiendish killers from Ecuador who had trained llama's to eat the shorts off visiting women.  Please help me out here..what are the other news stories in recent years and up till today that I missed with non-muslim terrorists.  Ok, maybe I missed one or two you can find..but that was not the point...the point is that MOST terrorists today ARE muslim radical extremists.  It's that kind of thinking that makes some people deny the holocost too??

Gosh Cory, I'm always glad to help.

You might remember that little unpleasantness in Northern Ireland.

Or the obscure little thing about Iran-contra.  Of course when we arm terrorists to overthrow a foreign government they are not called terrorists but magically become "freedom fighters".

Just as we did with the mujaheeden in Afghanistan.

They were "freedom fighters" when they were fighting our enemy for us, and we trained and supplied them, but ................oops................................... it seems now those same brave freedom fighters have turned on us and we call them terrorists.

Back to the OP,

He doesn't get fired because he brings ratings...which brings in advertising dollars...same for Limbaugh or Anderson Cooper.

And since Fox News is on cable, it isn't on the airwaves, so isn't subject to the same rules as broadcasters who actually use the designated broadcast to home spectrum. CNN, MSNBC, CNNH, NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS and even EWTN are just a click away. (Thankfully, so is Discovery, History, SciFi and Science)

Same applies to Satellite radio broadcasts.

Funny how Obama picked up his middle name when the campaign ended.

What the he** are you talking about? His middle name isn't used any more now than it was then. In fact, it seems to be the opposite, as during the campaign right-wing shock jocks and their followers tried to inflame simple-minded bigots by continually throwing the name out there, suggesting that Obama was Muslim or Arab, "not one of us". What supreme bullshit.

I understand your point, but I work in retail and it is amazing the projections people will put onto a word. I now am very careful how I greet customers because at times I've said, "Hi. Can I help you?" And gotten a very angry, "IF I NEEDED HELP I'D ASK!" (Of course those are the customers I tell security to watch.)

Then I've asked, "Are you finding everything okay?" In response, "NO! Why is my favourite soap not here!" I learn a great deal about a person based upon their response to how I greet them. It tells me a lot of where they are at and also where I am at. I am learning not to take anything personally for words have a different meaning for everyone and some days , unfortunately, "Good morning," has gotten me angry responses from customers in a bad mood.

And, it is amazing how most every customer wants to know what is "most popular" or the "miracle deodorant" or "miracle vitamin". I try to educate people but find most just want to be told what is best for them. And, it is just that type of thinking that can create a fundamentalist and terrorist. "Tell me what is best. I don't want to have to think for myself. It's too difficult and too painful." I wish I were joking, but I personally deal with hundreds of people a week and most just want a quick fix and to be told what to do. They don't want to take responsibility for their health and well being.

As for ther know-it-alls who like to shove their brilliance and great discipline in one's face. I just tell them they're too smart for me, hand them the manufacturer's number and walk away. Again, they have a mentality that will not allow room for compromise and free thinking. And this is in the good ole US of A.

Oh, and I don't even ask, "How are you," to customers any more, for then I'd have to stand there for 30 minutes to an hour with some of them. I just say "Hi there. Are there any questions I might help you with?" That seems to be safest for now.

True 'dat. Retail, it seems, is special level of hell, one where each and every single rule of human interaction, common decency, hell, even physics seems to go upside down! I learned from working retail to NEVER, EVER say "Ma'm" no matter if the lady is using a walker and is doused head to toe in Ben Gay. Now it's "Miss", no matter the age!

Totally hear ya!

I'm curious as to how it came to be that women in certain hot desert countries were forced to cover themselves from head to foot in heavy black material whenever venturing outdoors.

I also get images of foot binding in China . Genital mutilation in Africa. And not to mention how female babies have been thrown out in China because a male was desired. Sexism is everywhere.

I used to be very into Buddhism. One Zen center I practiced at was run by women who were ordained and called themselves monks. The male monks wanted them to call themselves nunks or monkettes. They could not handle the "equality". Hmm. And yet there was supposed to be no attachments. Also, nuns had 100+ more vows to take then monks And, a monk who was newly ordained had more authority than a nun of 20+ years.

I then ventured to Tibetan Buddhism and found much of the same. When religions are founded in sexist countries, there will be inherent sexism. That is why I prefer the mystics in any religion over the fanatics. The mystics go beyond the words. The fanatics will kill over a word.

So true. If there weren't a market for it he wouldn't have a job. There are people who agree with him and will continue to watch.

I was going over some notes I took from a great book called, A Terrible Love of War by James Hillman. He's a Jungian and had some very interesting perspectives. I hope you all don't mind me quoting a few.

p.17 “During the five thousand six hundred years of written history, fourteen thousand six hundred wars have been recorded. Two or three wars each year of human history.”

p. 21 “To declare war ‘normal’ does not eliminate the pathologies of behavior, the enormities of devastation, the unbearable pain suffered in bodies and souls. Nor does the idea that war is normal justify it. Brutalities such as slavery, cruel punishment, abuse of young children, corporal mutilation remain reprehensible, yet find acceptance in the body politic and may even be incorporated into its laws. Though ‘war is normal’ shocks our morality and wounds our idealism, it stands solidly as a statement of fact.
‘War’ is becoming more normalized every day. Trade war, gender war, Net war, information war. But war against cancer, war against crime, against drugs, poverty, and other ills of society have nothing to do with the actualities of war. These civil wars, wars within civilian society, mobilize resources in the name of a heroic victory over an insidious enemy. These wars are noble, good guys against bad and no one gets hurt. This way of normalizing war has white-washed the word and brainwashed us, so that we forget its terrible images. Then, whenever the possibility of actual war approaches with its reality of violent death-dealing combat, the idea of war has been normalized into nothing more than putting more cops on the street, more rats in the lab, and tax rebates for urban renewal.
I base the statement ‘war is normal’ on two factors we have already seen:
its constancy throughout history and its ubiquity over the globe. These two factors require another more basic: acceptability.”

p. 23 “Ingrained or acquired? Individual person’s aggressive instinct or social group’s aggrandizing claims? The various contesting assertions about the origins of war can be reduced to two basic positions. On the one side, theories of psychoanalysis that take human nature back to early loss of love objects and to the birth trauma; theories of animal biology (inborn release mechanisms of fight-or-flight; theories of determining genes pushing to get what they want). On the other side, war is a product of the internal structure of groups, their belief systems, their territorial claims, their exogamous fertility requirements, and the collective psyche of the crowd as such.
In both cases, whether human drive or societal necessity, war requires an imagined enemy. ‘Warre,’ writes Hobbes, is that condition ‘where every man is Enemy to every other man,’ and Clausewitz insists that ‘the enemy must always be kept in mind.’ ‘
P.25 “Mind you now: there may not actually be an enemy! All along we are speaking of the idea of an enemy, a phantom enemy. It is not the enemy that is essential to war and that forces wars upon us, but the imagination. Imagination is the driving force, especially when imagination has been preconditioned by the media, education, and religion, and fed with aggressive boosterism and pathetic pieties by the state’s need for enemies. The imagined phantom swells and clouds the horizon, we cannot see beyond enmity. The archetypal idea gains a face. Once the enemy has been named, war has already been declared and the actual declaration becomes inconsequential, only legalistic. The invasion of Iraq began before the invasion of Iraq; it had already begun when that nation was named among the axis of evil.
=======

The road to peace begins within each and every one of us. Yes, we can discuss ways of improving the world and coming up with plans. Vision. But until we have peace within, until we have made peace with those warring factions within our own minds, then how can there be peace outside? The world is a mere projection of what is going on inside our heads.

And, until such a time, we will have those extremists spouting their venom and hordes of people lining up to watch and listen, and sending in their donations for they are having their fears, their negative thoughts all reinforced. Therefore, "I must be right. I think, therefore I am."

Most Muslim are not terrorists, but most terrorists are muslim...and that is upsetting to people and makes them fearful of someone with a name like Hussein.

Please tell me you're not serious.

So, does that mean you run the other way anytime you see a woman in a burkha, just in case she is a suicide bomber?

So what`s your point?

That Muslims are somehow less human than us,less intelligent, more violent?Great! I guess that excuses us from invading a Muslim country and killing over a hundred thousand of them. That`s like an "easy button".Thanks!

Most nazis were German. Are you going to make silly comments about Germans?

With your logic,Christians would be thought of as abusive polygamists who enslave woman.Thank god most foreigners are smarter and more enlightened than to go there.

Timothy McVeigh was as white bread as they come.Go explain the vast differences to his victims.

Excuse me...but could you highlight in red my comment that you interpret as meaning ALL
muslim are somehow less human..etc etc??  Is English a second language for you?  In that case I understand and will use a translator to answer in your native tongue.
To anyone else out there...you do see that I said "Most Muslim are not terrorists, but most terrorists are Muslim"...or isthat statement somehow false.  If it is...there are 250 or so guys locked up in Gitmo that speak a wierd style of Galic, German, or Swahili...that sounds like arabic...with some exceptions.

If you don't want Hannity on the tube:

A) Become an Nielsen family
B) Lower his ratings:
1) don't turn it on.
2) encourage your friends/comrades/compatriots to not turn it on

C) Raise someone else's ratings:
1) turn on someone else
2) get your friends to turn on that same someone.

D) reach the sponsors
1) Don't buy from his sponsors
2) Buy from the "other's" sponsor
2a) If they are the same, send 'em a letter to say who you appreciate them sponsoring

ed to add:
I'm sure others here can come up with some POSITIVE things to do to change the ratings.  Negative things just leave ya, well, negative.

Once again the liberals need to be educated.
The Northern Alliance was the freedom fighters.

http://www.sptimes.com/2002/09/09/911/The_man_who_would_hav.shtml
The man who would have led Afghanistan
Ahmed Shah Massoud's assassination one year ago foreshadowed the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Massoud rose to prominence battling the Soviet Union, which occupied Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989. Unlike Soviet forces, who killed indiscriminately, Massoud was always aware of civilians: "On several occasions, he ordered the Panjshir to be temporarily abandoned by its population so that he could undertake military operations against the Soviets, unhindered by humanitarian concerns," according to the International Center for Humanitarian Reporting, a non-profit journalism organization based in Geneva. After the Soviets withdrew, Massoud served as Afghanistan's defense minister from 1992 until the Taliban seized power in 1996. Ousted from Kabul, he resumed his role as Afghanistan's most charismatic resistance leader.

I guess for you time heals all wounds.  It doesn't matter what crimes they were involved in as long as the necessary time has passed.
