Egyptology is a passion of Mine.  In college, I did a project on female leadership in Egypt and came across Nefertari.  Loved all that was written about her.  I've had this nic for more than a decade.

Your name reminded me of one of my favorite books  "Uppity Women of Ancient Times' by Vicki Leon.

JustDarkness -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 2:27:48 AM)

I thought she was called Nefertati..or is that some one else?  (it is the same, just looked it up. See that is the prob with names...lol )

MsFlutter -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 2:40:11 AM)

An idea that really strikes my fancy always makes my imagination flutter at the possibilities.

(I can also amuse myself for hours with my camera and an accommodating butterfly [sm=kiss.gif] )

here's another discussion we had on it last month --> Nicks

Cant say I've ever given a slave name - it would just be something else to remember.  I had to forget the entire 5th grade just to remember a phone number!

FreakMagnet -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 2:52:50 AM)

It's basically what I am. And I mean freak in the best possible sense of the word. ;)

In regard to what we choose to call ourselves on this site (or any site), some names seem obvious i.e. "Mistress This" "Master that" "Slaveso-and-so".

For the not so obvious names,  I'm wondering what inspires them? If you are Dominant, how did you pick your name?  If you are submissive (providing you are unowned so a Dominant didn't name you) how did you choose your name?

Waaaaayy back in the Dark Ages of my nilla relationships, I had a habit of snapping my fingers at a distracted partner and commanding "Oi; Focus!" or "Focus, girl" etc - which often brought the opposite result and even headache onset syndrome....  <shrugs>

Very different outcome with the fem/subs who have shared my life, of course...!  Seems I was using the right "ammo" all along; just had the wrong target(s)....

Focus.

felicean -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 3:15:27 AM)

My name here is an old Gaelic word...choosen because I thought it beautiful. But more importantly it's a small tribute to my Mother who was from Ireland.

MistressSavage -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 4:14:13 AM)

Savage is a name from my family line,  I have used it since I was in my late teens pretty much anytime I needed a stage name or not my legal name. Since my Mom has passed on it has taken on more meaning for me since it's from her side and when I use it I remember that I am a continuation of the Savage women. All of whom were tough, southern women who I can only hope to live up to.

I sign a lot of things as Ms or Miss Tricia because when I was a kid if you were allowed to use a grown ups first name that wasn't Aunt etc you used that as a sign of respect. From what I have seen that also seems to be a southern/ midwestern thing.

May you all find what you seek and what you need.
Ms. Tricia

chezzy71 -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 4:40:58 AM)

I'm a movie buff among other things...so i really liked the movie"The Pope of Greenwich Village with Mickey Rourke and Eric Roberts.Roberts fondly called Rourke Chezzaroo and Chezz a couple of times in the movie which is slang for Charlie.After i started using it,i remembered that Jack Nicholson also called a character actor in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Chezzaroo.So i took chezzy out of them and used it.And although argumetarive..i have never been institutionalized..LOL

chezzy71 -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 4:42:18 AM)

But my spelling has...lol

badlilthang -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 4:59:37 AM)

the name i use here explains itself  laughs - but it was given to me by my very first Master. The One who taught me about BDSM - and that the way i was wired was not sick - twisted or wrong...i had just come out of an abusive marriage - and honestly thought i was not well in the head for needing domination and rough treatment. I discovered the niftyness of consent and wow.....a lot of things suddenly made sense...and the thang spelling is due to this Masters twang..i loved the way He talked. Slow, southern drawl - whisky and cigarette voice kind of...yum.

The name got stuck somehow - so i kept it....another one called me dorei for a while - means slave - and no matter how much i like the sound of that word - it reminds me of him - a total jackass...*L*...

rt - i am often just called *b*...and that can stand for a LOT of things.*lol*.  hubby even calls me babe at times - which i secretly loves...hehe...especially when i see/hear other women almost having a fit if called babe...

Aileen1968 -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 5:13:33 AM)

My screen name here is what I was going to be called when I was born. He calls me Wiggles because....I wiggle.

akisha -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 9:54:46 AM)

I came up with this nick about 10 or 11 years ago because the nick I used for gaming just didn't feel right. Old nick name was Quebie (original one on ICQ) after a few people started copying it I stopped using it.

I went with akisha because I liked the sound and the flow of it. Plus it was (at the time) very unique and there were not 1000 of them online.

I like names that are unique and have a disticnt sound and flow to them. If trying to find a new username I will keep trying different ideas until I find something that is not already being used on that site. Personally I have having to use a nickname that has a bunch of numbers at the end.

I've been lucky. I have the same username on all the sites I belong to and for my email. *S*

chiaThePet -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 10:18:50 AM)

For the longest time I thought my birth name was damnitboy,

but then Mom explained that I was actually named after

the pet nick she gave the flesh eating bacteria which

consumed my father.

hardbodysub -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 10:38:01 AM)

chia's post has reminded me how as a kid, I thought my name was Jesus Christ, because my dad was always saying "Jesus Christ, what do you think you're doing?!!!"

beltainefaerie -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 10:47:56 AM)

Beltaine is the third spring/fertility festival in Wicca.  It is related to human fertility and sexuality.  My friends have long joked that everyday is beltaine at my house and to one extent or another they are right.  It is my favorite of the sabbats, although I love them all.  I have always loved faeries and have many faerie symbols and statues around my home.

Master thinks it is appropriate, since I can be a mischievious lil slut.  We didn't set out to have scene names, since we are always who we are, but my online name sort of morphed into a pet name for me and now Master often calls me bel.  My livejournal never uses my real name due to family/career, etc, so when Master was writing about me in his, he also respected that and typed my screenname, which is the same as on here.  After awhile, beltainefaerie is a lot to type and he shortened it to bel.  We like that it refers to the sex holiday and that its variants mean beautiful in many languages.  He started calling me bel when I was at my most playful and it stuck.  Though he often calls me by my real name too, now when he calls me bel, I melt immediately into subspace.  We joke sometimes that it is more who I am than my given name.

Unfortunately, I love the names Arabella and Isabelle, but I know we'd shorten them to Belle and I think it would screw with everyone's head to hear us calling a little one basically by my slave name.

VampiresLair -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 10:55:16 AM)

My name is based on a character in some of my writing, but it is also a mini-IQ test. Or, maybe an interest test in the very least. If someone asks me what Diurnal means, I let them go look it up. If they are interested enough to do so, they might be worth talking to. If they cant be bothered, that tells me a bit about them.  Those that know it, and understand the irony, get extra points.

Our couple profile is what we will be calling our home when we get it. Southern homs get names, and so we chose this one.

I named Fox, and his screenname is pretty simple to figure out. DVsFox

kristileigh -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 12:23:08 PM)

Mine's a song by David Bowie. I am a Bowie fan. I like the song and I thought it would sound kewl as a screenname.

Nothing deep or meaningful behind it, sorry.

I am such a David Bowie freak. Can't even tell you how much I obsess over him.

My name is the name I use for modeling.

Lilith is a mythological demon seductress, temptress, plus its a pretty name. Vonworren is just something I made up.

You can't steal it. D<

softness -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 12:45:36 PM)

Soft/softness is my most common screen name online and has been for about 5 years. Softy was an old vanilla nickname (largely ironic) from my rugby/army cadet days. It suits the side of my personality that most people in the scene would see ... pliant, bidable, sweet and generally soft. People who get to know me better see a different side of me, and soft suits that as well. People who know me well learn that I play dumb like a fox (am hearing this a lot lately, from someone in particular who seems to enjoy watching other people fall for it).

I also go by the nic Pudicitia and am slowly updating profiles to soft_pudicitia. Pudicitia was the Roman Goddess of chastity. However our concept of chastity was slightly different to the one she personifies. Judging by what we can know about her devotees being chaste (in our modern sense) was not what she was after ... being chaste according to your social status and occupation was. As such a Roman matrona faithful to her long death husband, and unvirae (having only known one man) could and did worship the same Goddess that a concubine or a street whore would - though perhaps not in the same pew. That pseudonym suits me. I cannot be described chaste by modern standard, but neither am I total trash. I have a strong and well developed Madonna/whore complex - pudicitia allows both.

Right now I am spending a lot of time with a poly family who have a slave with the same first name as me ... this causes confusion when someone is yelling for a beer.  She is a real boi, and I am a "prancing femme" we are therefore known as "____ hard" and "_____ soft". In the long term, or more truthfully as soon as anyone can think of something more appropriate I will get given another name. Currently am answering to "puta" as well.

MsEmpwr2 -> RE: Dominant/slave names (2/4/2009 1:03:01 PM)

I picked Mine from a general philosophy of life.
