Most of the girls I knew growing up preferred older men precisely because they tend to take their time, and in the case of wild sex, less apt to freak out and dump on you because they feel guilty - with adolescents you get adolescent behavior - or as one girl told me: "they have better stories".
There is also the question of culture: I prefer older women myself, in fact I've found that women over 50 remember the "free love" 60's, and 70's, liberation and all that, and are much less likely to suffer from hang ups, whereas Thirty somethings or younger grew up in the more competitive 80's, and it seems to me are much more likely to be "on the make", as they say: i.e., obsessed with status, and generally more set in their ways as a result than someone older.
Not all of them of course, but they aren't hard to spot.
Back in the Sixties and Seventies, people had wild sex for it's own sake, because frankly, there just wasn't a whole lot else to do, it had nothing to do with status.
