Whoa, newsflash, its politically INCORRECT not to celebrate valentine's? I thought it was the other way around. It could be insulting and painful to those who have lose someone, are divorced, single, lovelorn, etc etc. Incredibly common to feel pain, jealousy, and loneliness on this day if you're without. And it's a day people like to rub in other's faces what they've got. Not because they love each other. Why else do my female coworkers get flowers and candies sent to them with ridiculously sappy cards from people at work? If it was sincere and between them, it wouldn't have been sent to work. It'd be given personally. It's a ridiculously politically incorrect day in general. I think it's a hateful day. And I got lot's of valentine's in school - but it was ridiculous and horrible then. You could buy differnet colored roses from the principal's office, meaning friendship or more, and some people would do secret admirer's some true, some hateful.. some not anonymous.. all kinds of weird stuff, and the girls who got them were put on pedastals.. those who didn't have boyfriend/girlfriends were made to feel awkward... and people scrambled to get one. And this started in like.. kindergarten.. it's ridiculous... and people who were more popular or richer would get more valentine's from friends too.. sad sad little day it is.. I used the term sarcastically. I called dissing VD to be politically incorrect, because you experience a backlash whenever you express your negative opinion about VD. Whatever your reasons for not liking VD, and there are plenty of legitimate ones, if you express them, people will call you a spoilsport, unromantic, suggest that you didn't get any valentine cards in your box at school (see earlier replies in this thread), etc.
