well, ive made a year here. and funnily enough.., im hitting that phenomena now myself - i still love visiting, mostly cos i really enjoy a number of people who post on here and ive made some excellent friends behind the scenes - so for me its a community i like to drop in on once in a while.

the threads are starting to repeat on me a bit (smile) - but you know, we could always zest it up with some totally different questions.

but also this is a place for beginners too and sometimes i see a thread thats asking for an opinion or advice on something i can contribute to - it was a pretty fierce pond when i turned up - if you asked a stupid question you got shot down but LARGE - thats settled down a bit now - hm!, i just like it here.

Yer Kidding right?  The boards are full of humor due to some of the moronic posts and reply.  That said there is tons of good informaiton here as well.  I stop by a couple times a week.

Well I've not made it to a year yet.  However I do find that being active on a forum can be hard work and its difficult to sustain it.  I've been active on other forums in the past (such as gaming, pc tech help etc) and I've often had a break, come back and then had another break, then maybe left altogether.

Sometimes, I don't feel like contributing even though I have something to say but I think its good to force yourself to write.  I hope to stick around for a while on here.

I notice that people have widely different ideas of pacing.
Some may be more used to the pace of a chatroom and expect the forums to be similar - if the conversation doesn't take place in something approximating real time, it's over for them.

Others check in much more sporadically.

I recall a post in the "Ask a Master" forum where there were about 6 or 7 quick replies, then someone wrote "I notice no male doms have chimed in yet !!" (or words to that effect), and it had been all of a half hour since the thread had been started.

And I've seen in other posts how people have different ideas about how quickly a conversation will unfold, so perhaps that could effect one's experience of the place.

I think pretty much once you squeeze a sponge dry it's dry. There is only so much discussion that can go on. If you have an interesting enough life the repetition of a place that focusses primarily on one aspect of your life is bound to become dull after a while. seems normal enough to me.

I know I sure get bored with the forums.  It seems like if you aren't part of the major clique here, have a different opinion than everyone else, or you have different kinks, no one really acknowledges your opinions or input.  It's like an adult internet version of high school.

I can admit to a waning but I feel it is due to changes in my personal life ..like I have not been working for the last few months and I am more distracted due to health issues

This may be a case of "you have to be the change you want to see" then.

I try to reply to anyone who writes something interesting to me; but I also try to keep it short and not overpost, cause threads can get unwieldy pretty quickly.

Breaking in here is the hard part, but boredom does affect me at times. You hear subjects repeated and you come to understand why LA often posts those links. Still, I find reasons to read and post here. I come to know certain posters and that makes it new to me reading their views whether I know the subject or not. That personalizes reading about BDSM subjects.

I do not really get bored with the boards because i choose what i read and still find enlightment. I do get bored with people complaining about the fakes , and watch out for this etc. I would think starting out posting on a board you would want to put your best foot forward and not be screaming Fake ..Not address this to you OP, by the way. Just a general observation that i am making.

I've been here for about a year and when I first started reading the forums, I would be annoyed when LA would make those posts.  Now, I have to stop myself from doing the same thing!
Lately, I find that going back and looking a certain subjects of interest to be more beneficial then reading posts about fakes/scams/liars/cheaters.  Oh, and I now click on those links LA posted......the things you learn in a year

Message boards tend to be cyclical, and there are some threads that we tolerate coming around faster than others, and some that begin to grate on our sensibilities.

The only way i stop myself running, screaming for the hills is to take a break from them all for a while, go and do something less boring for a while, and let a rash of new members find their feet and their posting styles and come back refreshed to view fora with a new slant to them.

The longer i stay, the more everyone just blends into one amorphous mass with the same old topics being trotted out, and if i hadn't found the solution when i did, i have no doubt i would have been a gibbering wreck, desperate for validation and definition!
