Adam Sandler isn't a "bad" looking man.... He's not num-nums but he's ok AND funny.

(And the guys are already just dying hearing about the recasting of the movie....)

Excellent idea, LadyH. May I also suggest that you rent "Rashomon " and the American remake, "The Outrage", starring Paul Newman, Laurence Harvey, Claire Bloom, Edward G. Robinson and, yes, William Shatner.

Actually, Windy, Brad Dexter died a few years ago.  He never made a lot of other big time movies -- Von Ryan's Express comes to mind, but that's about it.

Horst Buckholz is an odd story.  He was going to be the darling of the American hipsters in 1962 when he was cast as a handsome, impetuous young cowboy in what would become the greatest Western ever made.  He was billed as the "German James Dean".  But somehow his "cool" never took off, and while he made a few more good American films, he basically went back to Germany where he became a pretty near a B movie fixture.  He died in 2002.

Any other Magnificent Seven related questions, dear?  It really is the greatest movie ever made.  Really.

E.

Nah, the greatest western movie ever made was Red River.  Just ask my dad.

Actually, the Greatest Western is "One Eyed Jacks ", some great dialogue.  Marlon Brando stars and directs, Carl Malden co-stars and, in a terrific scene, horse whips Johnnie Rio ( Brando ), who is lashed to a hitching post, then breaks his gun hand. Johnnie, of course, gets even.

Nahhhh, my all time favourite Western is Silverado with Kevin Kline, Scott Glenn, a very young Kevin Costner, John Cleese, Danny Glover, Brian Dennehy, Rosanna Arquette and some other great actors. I love that movie and can watch it again and again and again.......

(Oh wait, I already have.......)
