I have to ask a question that has long been bothering me. How can anyone who is in the d/s world to the point of being on this board support the conservative agenda. Financial policy aside, it seems these people are dedicated to our eradication. Does anyone think that a group vocally against reproductive rights, gay rights, free speech rights in the matter of pornography are going to at all support the rights of "whip swinging perverts" like us?

One of the most vocal and self proclaimed neo-cons on this board has a picture of herself in a corset with her breasts bared. The ads that support this site link to d/s pornography sites. Do you have any thought that the party that holds up "traditional American values" and align with the christian right wing would hesitate to shut it down if they could?

Do you think that the conservatives have any interest in allowing d/s organizations like TES or clubs like Paddles to exist? Or is it more likely that their desire is to take down these perceived blights on society and marginalize them into extinction?

Is it just that being into d/s is easier to hide than being gay that makes it possible for you to support an organization that is unmistakably dedicated to our extinction? Or is it just a matter of putting the pocketbook before all else?

In short, just as I would ask a black man how he could support the KKK or a Jew how he could contribute to the Nazi party, I ask again, how can anyone who identifies themselves as part of the d/s community support the conservative social agenda?

They support 'conservative' ideals in issues, not necessarily a 'conservative agenda' of any type. The conservatives I've seen on here are *real* conservatives, focused on little, not big, government and financial and social policies leaning toward capitalistic ideals.

I have yet to see someone on here support any sort of limitation of speech (which is a liberal phenomena, btw, even if some neo-cons support/use it), or anything that's restrictive on the individual (without what they deem as proper cause).

Though we have a tendency to disagree on many points, I have yet to see anyone in support of anything that would ideally destroy all types of 'BDSM' at all. Government non-intervention in personal lives? Yes.

Government intervention in our personal lives is at least as much a liberal thing (and is arguably more of a liberal thing) than it is a conservative thing.

Obama's dollar-a-pack tax on cigarettes is a good recent example of liberal do-gooder politics that comes to mind.

Tipper Gore also comes to mind... at least, if you're up on current events, if you know your history at all.

It's been my experience that every Republican administration has attempted exactly what the OP says.

Limiting free speech a liberal phenomena?

How about Reagan's Justice Department's crusade against pornography?

How about that putz John Ashcroft who had to cover the bare breasts of the statue of Lady Justice?

And you think these people will support your right to whip or be whipped?

They're not necessarily conservative in all politics, is my observation, rulemylife.

Intervening in the personal lives of government constituents is *very* much a liberal-minded activity, even if it's veiled under conservative 'values' (which are very different from conservative politics)

Right. Got it. However, why is it not more relevant things that are currently happening via the GOP platform than something from two decades ago? Oh, and you did write current events in the same statement as well, prefacing the word history, if you did not realize that.

Tipper Gore... lmao. Wow, there's a memory!

If anyone has children, which I do, I'm sure they've heard the dreaded threat: I'll call the cops if you punish me.
I am almost positive that the CPS is full of liberals and liberal ideaology. If I'd threatened my parents with that, I'd have got my mouth smacked.
Also, I'm pretty sure that conservatives didn't come up with seat belt or helmet laws, but if anyone can prove me wrong please do so.

Yes, I agree that conservative values are distinct from conservative politics.

But which party has exploited those conservative values to advance it's own political causes?

Of course not. They were too busy coming up with tax loopholes for the Bush elites and the 1% of wealthy in this country. A law to protect minors from harm and making sure idiotic parent's didn't take the kiddies on the back of the bike with no helmet or for a sunday drive unbuckled and chain smoking in the car. What fun.

Oh and I don't have um's, but I have never heard my sister's or girlfriend's telling them they would call the cops on them if they were to be punished.

Oh, as I googled seat belt laws, I saw a little blurb that said something about, why write a law to protect idiots from themselves.
That made me think of this, which I'd like to add:

Contents may be hot *on a coffee cup*
Do not iron clothes while you are wearing them
For external use only *on a curling iron - wonder what some kink was doing*
Do not use in the shower *on a hair dryer*
Do not spray in eyes *on deodorant*

I could go on and on and on... but does anyone out there think conservatives thought up this stupid stuff?

The bigger font is to help you magnify your reading comprehension, dear.

Why do all the threads lately seem to almost instantly go into these petty personal attacks of late. Conservatives give examples, then Liberals desperately attack the person, as if the only way they feel they can win a given argument is to make it about the person posting, or the wording, or the source, or their relationships - rather than the issue itself.

It's sad, these boards used to be worth participating in.

By helmet I meant motorcycle.

And so, it's okay for the government to tell me how to raise my children, but it's not okay for the government to tell me how to have sex? see the gray area there?

Assuming that sex is with consenting adults, of course the gov't has no rights to intervene. When it comes to protecting um's? With the rampant blatant examples of horrible parenting everywhere, a little intervention might not hurt in SOME cases. If you think it is okay to smoke in an enclosed vehicle with a baby, you might need a wee bit of guidance. You meaning the general public, not you personally.

abortion is a liberal ideal, correct?

edited to add: if you want to parent a child, have your own. until then, don't try to tell other parents what to do. and no, i don't smoke, but is it your business if i do smoke around my children?
