Grew up in Wisconsin...I like critters, especially the canine variety. Now I am allergic. Firm, it is always about me. Anywhooo, know many farm folk...Simple people, not unlike yourself. lol. Couldn't help myself. anywhooooo, I always respected their take on life, there is a theory that life should not be wasted on a "bad dog." Many a "bad dog" just disappeared and was explained to have "run away" to the kids....later in life there was a bit if a family joke that the kids, when acting like shits, might consider "running way." Didn't read all of the responses...probably a bit redundant. I'm not a big fan of "letting them go." too much of a hazard. They can get hungry, potentally starve to death or become dangerous to others, livestock or pets, get injured, become rabid or fall into the hands of some pretty bad people. I think you either put them down. Or send them off to a shelter. However, I can't get the imagery out of my mind of a naked "Treasure" draped over the hood of your pick up bellowing out at the top of her lungs a moving rendition of "Born Free." Poor "Spot" is left standing and whimpering feeling totally abandoned on some distant rural road as the two of you drive off laughing and singing..... Born free, as free as the wind blows As free as the grass grows Born free to follow your heart Live free and beauty surrounds you The world still astounds you Each time you look at a star Stay free, where no walls divide you You're free as the roaring tide So there's no need to hide Born free, and life is worth living But only worth living 'cause you're born free (Stay free, where no walls divide you) You're free as the roaring tide So there's no need to hide Born free, and life is worth living But only worth living 'cause you're born free. --- Live free Spot.
