Grew up in Wisconsin...I like critters, especially the canine variety.  Now I am allergic.  Firm, it is always about me.

Anywhooo,  know many farm folk...Simple people, not unlike yourself. lol. Couldn't help myself.

anywhooooo, I always respected their take on life,  there is a theory that life should not be wasted on a "bad dog."  Many a "bad dog" just disappeared and was explained to have "run away" to the kids....later in life there was a bit if a family joke that the kids, when acting like shits, might consider "running way."

Didn't read all of the responses...probably a bit redundant.

I'm not a big fan of  "letting them go."  too much of a hazard.  They can get hungry, potentally starve to death or become dangerous to others, livestock or pets, get injured, become rabid or fall into the hands of some pretty bad people.

I think you either put them down. Or send them off to a shelter.

However,  I can't get the imagery out of my mind of a naked "Treasure" draped over the hood of your pick up bellowing out at the top of her lungs a moving rendition  of "Born Free."  Poor "Spot"  is left standing and whimpering feeling totally abandoned on some distant rural road as the two of you drive off laughing and singing.....

Born free, as free as the wind blows
As free as the grass grows
Born free to follow your heart

Live free and beauty surrounds you
The world still astounds you
Each time you look at a star

Stay free, where no walls divide you
You're free as the roaring tide
So there's no need to hide

Born free, and life is worth living
But only worth living
'cause you're born free

(Stay free, where no walls divide you)
You're free as the roaring tide
So there's no need to hide

Born free, and life is worth living
But only worth living
'cause you're born free.

Live free Spot.

This is how it works.

Stray comes into yard, call animal control.

Period.

Then maybe(and only then) the alternative of keeping it,but only after the animal is checked out as healthy and un-owned.

A stray coming into your yard should be treated like a life raft survivor.Nourished and made safe and cared about. Not set adrift again to meet an un-certain and surely horrible death.

Since there is no animal control in my area, this option does not exist.  The closest animal control is in a city 1/2 hour away and they will not go out of city limits.

The very definition of chutzpa

The outrage triggered by the photos and the allegations that the dog had been left to starve to death quickly spread internationally via blogs, e-mails, and other unconfirmed sources, including internet petitions to prevent Vargas from participating in the 2008 Bienal Centroamericana in Honduras that received over four million signatures. Vargas has endorsed the petition, saying that he, too, has signed it.

I have this recurring nightmare, where Firm is drooling and running his hands over your naked body....His nails are always dirty.  Sean Hannity, wearing only boxers and a tshirt, is sitting in your bedroom gluttonously eating a peach...The juices of the peach are runnings down his mouth and "wife beater" and the flesh of the peach is flying out of his mouth as he voraciously shouts out commands as to what position Firm should "take" you next.  Soooo disturbing.

I always wake up sobbing, rocking and reminding myself....It's only a fucking dream!...It's only a fucking dream!...It's only a fucking dream!

You think they are gifts, but really they are warnings.

There isn't a middle ground.

Then may you never be in a position to need to find that "nonexistent" middle ground.

My nails are always quite well manicured.

And Hannity doesn't wear boxers.

And he eats plums while in the bedroom.

*Sheesh*

Can't you get any of the details right?

He is talking about different ways that "pack thinning" has happened with different dogs.

1.  Stray comes into the yard and becomes a pet, but has gotten terminally ill.  They are euthanised at the vets, most likely the outcome of a check-up to see how the dog is doing.  Consultation between Firm and the vet takes place about options.

2.  Stray comes into the yard but is an aggressive dog.  Even with food, water, and safety, some remain unsafe to have around.  Dog is shot.

3.  Stray comes into the yard, nice dog, stays a while, but then decides to leave.

4.  Stray comes into the yard, nice dog, but Firm is able to find someone else wanting a dog, and so the dog gets a new home.

Perhaps he will be back to clear it up, but that is how I was reading it.

You got it.

Doesn't it make you feel lonely at times ... being able to not only read and comprehend ... but to be able to explain it succinctly as well?
