BondageBarbieX -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 1:22:54 PM)

I have seen some silly names but I just ignore them and move on...

heartcream -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 1:41:08 PM)

The ones including words like 'piss' kind of curl my toes. The pompous ones annoy too.

NorthernGent -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 1:52:54 PM)

I prefer the nics that are the person's name. I equate this to individuality and a down-to-earth approach, which I like.

InTonguesslave -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 2:18:26 PM)

i was actually approached by someone who called himself Toxicdom - and he was (toxic)

and by the way intongues is about language (just to get that one across, feeling a bit self concious now [&o])

camille65 -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 2:25:07 PM)

When I first started chatting I was turned off by 'certain' screen names, ones like BIG_10_INCHDICK4U etc. Most were trolls but.. yanno trolls kind of do have their place and its okay. I don't really mind trolls now, they are what they are with no pretense.

Some of those trolls actually turned out to be pretty interesting people when I got to know them, such as azzmaster from CM. I actually got to know him off-thread and he was not like he presented himself. [;)]

I don't go by screen names anymore, I don't automatically assume things about them. It is okay by me if all they want is a quick fuck!

Really creative screen names are great too, just in a different way.

porcelain26 -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 3:05:28 PM)

I'm also turned off by the names in all caps, those in 'text speak', or those with overtly sexual references. With my own name, I've used porcelain every since I found out there were such things as chatrooms when I was 15. I like names that speak something about the person, whether it's a fetish, a mindset, or an aspect of their personality. I can't think of any good examples without using actual names, and like someone else said, I'm not sure if that would violate the TOS.

Maya2001 -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 3:26:26 PM)

I am with Camille on this ...  judging a person by screen name is like judging a book by its cover there could be a lot of reasons that a person may have chose their name  and could be not the reason you assume... and it is sort of like judging a person based on a photo only,

came4U -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 3:26:49 PM)

Any names with sirlordmaster are cheesy.  Otherwise, the name means less to me than the actual person., never really paid much notice to them til topics come up about em.

DomMeinCT -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 3:28:25 PM)

The ones that have typos or use "dominate" as a noun (instead of  "dominant") make me giggle.

CarrieO -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 3:37:38 PM)

One that gave me a sludder (slimey shudder) was a man who's nic involved doing something nasty to a cervix.  I've always wondered about the people that earnestly respond to those with such "interesting" names.

Most just make me laugh out loud....and I'm always open to a good laugh.

pinkwind -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 3:48:22 PM)

Ones i really cringe at are the ones where someone has forgotten to engage their imagination, at all, and where the thought process is sadly predictable...it's a kink site...wipyerslavehardsir might do! Or worst still...SirMasterUberDom!

Nicknames really mean nothing in the grander scheme of things, if they did half of us wouldn't have got past first base!

Arrgghh!!!!!

PrincessEllie -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 4:02:40 PM)

I'm a princess because I'm a little bit of a snob. And because I'm willful, but not to the point that I am a brat. I am also a princess because I adore cute things. But I could see that someone might find my name a turn off, if they want someone to be a doormat for them (and there's nothing wrong with that.)

MsFlutter -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 4:08:12 PM)

I've seen a lot of magical nicknames - the ones that make the user ' invisible' to me the moment I see them. They usually involve any derivation of sensual, sensous, hot, gorgeous,a fetish that doesnt appeal to me or anything from  the always famous beatme/useme/Iamalowlyworm/humantoilet collection.

Sure - there's a case to be made for not reading a book by its cover but I learned many years ago that I am philosophically incompatible with the majority. :)

ElectraGlide -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 4:44:41 PM)

I can't stand people that name themselves after motorcycles, hold on, I named myself after my Harley, I can stand myself though, I guess all is well here.

CatdeMedici -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 5:33:10 PM)

Most of them leave Me cold and I won't give them a split second glance

feydeplume -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 5:36:49 PM)

Sometimes you just word things so well. i am still giggling about it and pondering stealth names, names of mass distruction, names the Q would have made for james bond....

thanks for the mental playground

Aynne88 -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 5:41:44 PM)

Sorry feydeplume, I drive a Corvette, a 6spd. C5 millenium yellow.  Paid a pretty penny for it.  However I guess to some people a car that costs new in excess of 50k is not much. It's Aston Martin too by the way.  So, what do you drive again?

As far as names go, I am with Northern Gent. I do like names that are close to the posters "real name" but for the most part here, once a person starts posting it is very very easy to see their personality rather quickly, regardless of their name.

hmm, so someone gonna come home covered in more bacteria and viruses that the average person, who will be called away at odd hours to deal with pus and barf, who is a status symbol for those that think doctors actually make a lot of money (HAHHAHHHAaAA snort), and who is lame enough to admit to driving a corvett (meaning possibly that they can't afford a real car like and anton marton)

and who's easy nickname would be Dick....

nah i think i'll pass

The list is short anyone who uses Lord, Master, Lady, Slave, Sub.  You get the idea someone who puts that in their nick.  As if they are attempting to validate who they are and what they are about. I'm like give me a break your already on a bdsm site

"Validate?????"  Nope.  My name SAYS who I am.  It's not an attempt to "validate" anything.  "Luci" is a shortening of my given name and slave is what I am.  How is stating that as my screen name asking for validation?  Typical negative answer from you, sailingBUM.  What's that say about you?  Are you a "bum" seeking "validation?"  Hmmmmm[8|]................luci

feydeplume -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 5:50:28 PM)

I meant to disrespect to a damn fine car with killer torque and good gearing. I was being silly and poking fun at the idea that someone, on a BDSM site would call themselves "hey looking for a trophy wife/fuck buddy!"

My last car was a Mercedes, a 70's model that was a tank with a jet engine. It made L.A. traffic pleasant. I spent more on the sounds system than the car, but i babied the hell out of it because it could to 120 uphill without whining. It got the best gas, oil, and mechanics i could find.

I haven't had a car since Hurricane Katrina washed our car into lake Pontchartrain. yeah years i know. But there is nothing quite like losing everything to make you broke and put your focus on things like food and shelter. The bus/train system works and i don't have to deal with parking now.

Aynne88 -> RE: Screen Name First Impressions (2/23/2009 5:54:25 PM)

Fair enough. I get a little touchy when I remember a payment book that seemed endless and the monumental joy of paying that beast off so I was a little surprised to hear the "can't afford a real car" comment . Yes, I have seen men use the "hot car fuck me" thing, that is why it is nice to have one hotter. [;)]
