LadyPact -> The "S" doesn't stand for stupidity (2/24/2009 11:15:09 AM)

This is just a friendly little reminder.  It will be a quick one, as I'm sure this thread has the life expectancy similar to those on castration or other extreme topics.  However, after the last few threads that I've come from, I feel it needs to be said.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the actual acronym BDSM stands for bondage, discipline, sadism, and masochism.  General lack of intelligence, or the actions of those who can be included in the category therein, aren't it.  If it sounds like a dumb ass idea when there's no kink involved, there's a chance that it's a dumb ass idea even if there is kink involved.  If the activity would be stupid to engage in with your boyfriend, it doesn't get any better just because you're calling that person "master."  If she was anyone other than "mistress," would you really be sending money to a woman you've never met, except over the internet?

Seriously, people, put yourselves in check.  As they say, ignorance is a lack of education.  Stupidity is chosing not to be educated when the potential is available.

(And the clock begins on either the deletion or the moving of this thread.  One..... two...... three......)

good post....and your timing is perfect!!

LaTigresse -> RE: The "S" doesn't stand for stupidity (2/24/2009 11:17:31 AM)

LadyPact, you are 100% correct. I sometimes wonder when common sense was left..........where ever it was left.

If it looks like a turd, smells like a turd...........chances are it's a turd. Flush it.

Lockit -> RE: The "S" doesn't stand for stupidity (2/24/2009 11:28:35 AM)

LOL.... thank you, thank you, thank you LadyPact!  You just said what many of us have wanted to say for at least the last week!

Perhaps a few of us should set out on an expedition to find the Holy Grave of Common Sense. Imagine how good we could be with all that dumped sense!

IrishMist -> RE: The "S" doesn't stand for stupidity (2/24/2009 12:46:55 PM)

/scratches head

I am confuzzled.

Common sense?
Intelligence?

What are these things that you keep speaking about?

[:D]

jakelogan01 -> RE: The "S" doesn't stand for stupidity (2/24/2009 12:52:47 PM)

does common sense really exist? i thought it was a myth

sparkyRBF -> RE: The "S" doesn't stand for stupidity (2/24/2009 12:58:02 PM)

Beautifully written and a great reminder.  I sure hope everyone reads this.  Some need it more than others.

i find this lifestyle much more fulfilling when it's my reality and not a fantasy.  It seems to me when it is a fantasy is when the common sense gets checked at the door.. it's like "lets not ruin this fantasy with common sense!"

thank you LadyPact.

persephonee -> RE: The "S" doesn't stand for stupidity (2/24/2009 1:02:02 PM)

But...but...but...where would they move it to?

Great post, too bad its going to fly over some peoples heads....[:)]

Apparently not to some people, who think stupidity, and acting like a guilible teenager while in their 50's is "cute".

plushiecat -> RE: The "S" doesn't stand for stupidity (2/24/2009 1:25:52 PM)

  BDSM has *also* been used as a 3-in-one: BD/DS/SM, and was just shortened to make things easier.  *shrug*  I most definitely agree that common sense is still needed regardless how you parse the abbrieviation.

Ok I had to read this four or five times, it almost made my eyes cross.

I don't care if you call it happy fun spankie time, it doesn't give you an excuse to have your head up your third point of contact.

Which is why the whole age debate has always annoyed me. I've met 18yo's that had their shit together far better than some of the people old enough to be their parents.........or grandparents.

The thing is, sometimes I think it's actually fake... these people are intentionally pulling the stupid innocent little lamb act to garner sympathy, attention from the 'white knight' guys, maybe acting flaky gives the impression of being younger- attracting the attention of more men. (Sorry, going with the D/s M/f for this one)... I mean it can't all be legitimate ignorance can it?

I have an 'acquantance' who when we go out with a group of friends, her entire personality changes. She's no longer the serious legal secretary, she's the idiotic, naive "bar-sexual" highschooler giggling at nothing and gushing on about how drunk she is.

Hmm...I'm afraid, that people suffering from "Permanent Lack of Common Sense Syndrome" , won't hear this voice of reason anyway. But maybe - after relevant number of reminders like this one - some of them will experience a flash of insight...at least...!

Great post ;-)

TazDevil -> RE: The "S" doesn't stand for stupidity (2/24/2009 2:04:13 PM)

maybe I am wrong but it seems to me you talking about the lifestyle all together, then say all the lifestyle IS BDSM, I was just trying to point out there more then BDSM to the lifestyle a LOT more
