I find that I often feel rather different than most Dominant women, in that I very much prefer "bratty" subs. I definitely want to be in control and for him to ultimately do what I say, but the fight and struggle is half the fun. I like when subs are cheeky or when they try and disobey. It gives me a reason to punish them. ;) And I like to know that my sub has a will and desires of his own. I have no interest in playing with someone who, to me, feels like a robot I can control by pushing buttons. I need to feel that there's a real person there.

Any other Dommes feel this way?

My Owner loves when I fight back and struggle during play.  She likes proving her physical dominance over me.  She loves for me to have my own thoughts and opinions outside of it.  However, she also expects that I remain respectful and obedient...just not mindlessly.  The dynamic is always firmly in place.

I like servitude and I expect, want and desire for that servitude to come without a bratty tongue behind it but the physical side is much more fun if theres a fight. A mouthy sub brings out the best in my sadism

Ditto LaTigresse on this score. I don't like any kind of hostility, verbal or physical, and when I'm genuinely displeased I don't want to play.

I like a good powerplay scene as much as the next Domme. I also enjoy having a sub with a mind of their own, someone I can have fun with, and that includes heated debate. My boy is a bit of a brat, and yes, it does bring out some of My best sadism.

I do not, however, want a relationship that's all struggle. For one thing, it just makes My life harder to have to convince him of every little thing I want him to do, or "make" him do everything. For another, I'm a big believer in people taking responsibility for what they want to do. I'm not one of those Dommes who's into "forced" anything, be it bi, or feminization, or boot worship. If his submission is something that needs to be forced, even if it's play force, My mindset ends up being that he really doesn't want to submit in the first place.

Nope, sorry, not interested in a "catch catch me if you can" of ANY kind. I want a sub who wants to work together to build a life, who agrees that I lead, who gets the fact that I know best, seek out the best advice and opinions--is he a door mat--NO--is it a tug of war? No! I can guarantee you that would get a slap in the face and a happy happy ass on the happy happy train.

Welcome to the boards Inglevine, and please stick around, because bratty subs is where it's at, if you want an abundance of them to choose from.

I, on the other hand, would prefer to send them your way, after a few go arounds.   A little brattiness is cute, if it's done in a way to get my attention, but is stopped when I give the "this is not the time" look.    A lot of brattiness or contrarian behavior, and he either has to find a way to deal with the issue of why he found himself this dominant woman, or leave.    M

No brats for me thankyou very much.
I do not have a desire to fight with a brat's reluctance to submit, that would irritate the hell out of me.

Also to add, subs can also be subserviant, yet still have their own mind, so the misguided view that genuine submissive's are all doormat's is untrue.

Bratty and contrary and turning everything into a struggle just isnt any fun. The occasional bit of a struggle in play, however, can be fun to address.

Personally I have always been attracted to somewhat bratty subs.  I am not talking about having to force submission or argue when things are serious. But more a playful brattiness. I do want one that really wants a D/s relationship but maybe is a little difficult in a fun way, but knows to stop when I give him/her that look. Everyone has things that appeal to them, just happens to be one of mine.

I value my slave's obedience above all else.

I chose him for his willing obedience and extreme submissiveness to me.

He is not a robot by any means, I assure you he is a real person, with real strengths and vulnerabilities.

There is nothing bad or wrong, in his strict obedience to my will. To the contrary, his overt, shameless submissiveness is noble, good and right. There is a great deal of strength and beauty, in his submission to me.

He doesn't get to decide to resist. If I wanted a fight or a struggle, I could order it.

And I don't need an excuse to punish him. I will punish him whether or not he is obedient. Its "funishment", of course- not real punishment. We don't have a punishment dynamic.

I have no problem setting him up for failure so that we can then enjoy some funishment, if I want to. Or I can just drag him to the whipping post with no provocation whatsoever. He understands that his funishment will happen whether or not he is good for me. But he is not allowed to instigate it, period.

I just would never in a million years, take a bratty slave in service to me. I detest the idea. My slave's abject obedience to my will is extremely pleasing and gratifying for me. Why would I put up with, or want, anything less than near-perfect obedience?

Hey,

Thanks so much for all your responses.

Some clarification:

I am in now way judging anyone or saying that what I like is "better." I don't believe in any of that. SS&C and it's all okay.

And, wow, I am not into forced compliance at all. Forcing a sub to do anything would take most of the pleasure out of the situation for me. I just find that rather too often for my own tastes I'll ask a sub, "What do you like?" and he'll respond with, "Whatever you like, Mistress." Nothing is guaranteed to make my interest wan like that. He's got to have his own mind and preference.

And I'm not so into servitude. It's all about the interaction and emotion for me. And, I think, total compliance detracts from the emotion of a scene while a bit of struggle adds to it.

Ditto

Having previously worked as a pro Mistress I came across this a lot. I think its the words that most pro Mistresses dread, especially with a new guy. I was always tempted to say, "well what I would like to do is pop you in a cage, go upstairs and make myself a coffee, smoke a few cigarettes and catch up with a few close friends on the phone. Ill be back in a couple of hours"

I agree with you, but trust me, they generally don't mean it.   They only tell you that so you can give them the chance, than they start to whine about all their expectations later...
The "whatever you want mistress" types are about as interesting as the "here is my dissertation on what slavery should be, and therefore how you must treat me."

My preference is for adult conversations regarding what he likes/wants.   I am fairly straightforward when someone has desires that are outside of my ability/desire to entertain.    M

Hehe... I was very money minded back then!

Its still something I really can't stand though, even with my own submissive. It just puts me in the mindset to do something I know they will not enjoy but then you get them stating, 'I hated that but I did it for you Mistress'!!

I was quiet yet somewhat bratty as a kid..of course that got me nothing but a hand over my mouth and that in turn became a huge part of my life. The brattiness is gone and i wish to keep it that way..besides..i'll still get that hand over my mouth for some reason or another without even trying. It's almost akin to being accident prone..smiles.
